Bruce was very professional and knowledgeable on what he was doing. His pricing was reasonable. We thought it was minor what we were doing to the two bathroom sinks but we found out from Bruce that it was a major problem. The bathrooms were clogged but we he had to rederect the sewer line. What we loved about him the most was that he was very honest.... he even gave us the option to call three more plumbers to give us an estimate but we decided to go with him. He also educated us on how the pipes work and sat down with us to explain the problem. His work is clean he doesn't leave a mess. I would give him 10 stars but their is no option to. We will definitely contact him for any future issues. Thank you Bruce God bless you we will be in touch. From Henriquez/Jimenez Family

Manny provided a quick and reasonable quote and after reading the reviews on Thumbtack, I felt he was the best choice for the job. I spoke with him over the telephone and the following morning he and his crew were at my door ready to repair my sewer line. Their work is top notch and was completed quickly. Manny is honest and very reliable and I highly recommend him for all of your plumbing needs.

Highly recommend Juan for any plumbing projects. His work is very professional. He is easy to communicate with and a good guy to chat with. He quickly repiped a couple pipes and capped another. He had all of the parts in his van which made the whole appointment quick and painless. He left the job site cleaner than when he showed up..didn't leave a message like some contractors tend to do

In short, I would highly recommend TJ with House to Home. I've already referred him to a friend, which is rare for me to do with contractors I've worked with in the past, but TJ earned it. If you want a contractor with an eye for detail, the skill to see it through and a pride of workmanship that ensures a quality job, then TJ's the guy. He was creative and tenacious about solving unexpected problems and he did so with a genuine consciousness for my budget. He removed my old double sink vanity, mirror, light and medicine cabinet. He did a beautiful job replacing them with the new fixtures, including all plumbing and electrical. TJ was both dependable and flexible. He was always careful about protecting the floor and surroundings and thoroughly cleaning up every time before he left. Thanks TJ!

We were originally quoted $2,000 to replace a water heater. Of course I knew this was exorbitant and in no way where we going to pay this. At this point, I came across Allan. Allan went above and beyond what I would have expected. He picked up, paid for, and delivered the water heater to us! Of course I reimbursed him after the job was completed. Who does that? At any rate, we communicatedand flawlessly though text during the initial transaction. He also did it the same day that our water heater went out which was on a Saturday! Needless to say-and by all the reviews he has-Allan and his team are a breath of fresh air among the the somewhat flaky world of contractors.

Contacted Elite contractors for an air conditioning repair. Our air-conditioning started leaking a couple days ago because of the crazy heat. Called them Monday, and they were able to send out a tech same day in the evening but worked better with my schedule for the following day. They came promptly at 10 am as promised. Profession, and polite. He fixed the clogged drain pipe and replaced the vent filter ( something I didn’t know needed maintained regularly. Can’t believe I was breathing that!!! ) great service. Will definitely be using them again.

As a contractor I'm particular about other contractors. I've also had a number of plumbers out to the house and have never called the same one back twice. Anthony will be the first I will call back. Super nice guy, prompt, and easy to contact. The price was also equal to or better than the other plumbers I've called. He got to the house and had the drain unclogged in no time. This is after I used my own snake, then went out and rented a 50' electric snake from Home Depot, spent hours on the drain, and finally gave up and called Anthony. I would highly recommend him for your drainage, hot water heater, most of your plumbing needs.

100 STARS!!! I’m so pleased that I don’t know where to even begin with this review.... In January of 2017, I hired Edgar to complete the plumbing for a unique type of Colon Hydrotherapy equipment that I wanted to install at my new business. I requested Edgar’s help literally 12hrs before I needed plumbing advice and, despite the fact that I contacted him at the very last minute, he was totally available, flexible and willing to help. The specifications required for my equipment were extremely unusual and were explained in a lengthy pamphlet that Edgar willingly read from cover to cover, in an effort to understand the exact details of how the device worked, what was required and how the job could be completed as quickly, inexpensively and efficiently as possible. Unfortunately, before installing the equipment, we unexpectedly underwent a 6 month long renovation as well as a 3 month long city hall review, before we were finally approved to move forward with the plumbing and installation of the device. I was a bit worried that Edgar would lose interest in the job at some point during the 9 months that it took for me to be completely ready & approved to move forward, but no...Edgar was there every step of the way! As the months passed, he was always available to answer any of my questions, to go with me to city hall to obtain necessary permits and to review my plans for the equipment (regardless of the many times that my plans changed). Although the process of starting my new business, completing a full office renovation & obtaining necessary city plumbing approval often felt like a never ending nightmare, Edgar was always the one constant positive throughout the chaos. I cannot give him enough praise. I’ve never written a review before but I will for him because everyone needs to know how great he is! He’s extremely friendly, patient, positive, affordable and always professional...I will be sending him referrals forever! I definitely definitely definitely recommend Edgar of Ocho Plumbing to anyone who is looking for an honest, reliable and knowledgeable plumber!

Al is the best help one can find when in an emergency. I had a stubborn clog in the sewer line that leads from the kitchen to the main line. My kitchen sink was backed up, dishwasher not functioning as supposed to. Al responded at 10 pm in the night and asked if he could come over. I asked him to come in the morning since he would have over 50 miles to travel. He arrived right when he said he would. He was very professional and had a roll up the sleeves attitude. The entire job took more than an hour since it was an extremely hard clog. He finished the job with tremendous patience and charged me the same dollar amount he said he would during our very first conversation. What a relief! I would hire him back again in a heartbeat in the future.

My project was taking out a sink/faucet/disposer set and reinstalling the disposer and new sink and faucet set. The thing that some of the contractors said was that one couldn't install around granite, so I was a bit prepared for damage to my countertop, which was not at all desired. Not a scratch. A few unexpected challenges in that my existing disposer was too big for the piping and the piping required an adjustment, but he had some fittings in truck, so no delay. One of the parts I ordered did not arrive on time so he is coming back to hook that flange up. 1. He was precisely on time and emailed to say how far away he was. 2. Arrived neat and professional with his shoe coverings already on before entering my home 3. knew what he was talking about 4. adapted to surprises 5. most important, got along well with my dog, who supervised the entire project and approved.

I needed a plumber to come out and check the clogged drains in my bathroom tub and sink, and bad sewer stench coming from my bathtub. Turns out will need some serious work cleaning of main sewer pipes. Robert and his partner were punctual, professional, and genuine while diagnosing the problem. They took the time to explain everything and provided reasonable quotes. Will hire them for future plumbing projects.

Geoff Davis is truly a godsend! I was searching for a handyman to help with repairs around my mother's home. . Other handyman services were truly price gouging her. In the past, we had horrible experiences with handymen doing terrible work costing us more to repair what they "fixed". We found Geoff Davis while searching for someone to repair my mother's patio cover which was damaged by the wind. Geoff was able to come up with a beautiful and creative way to repair the patio cover that was also affordable. After the repair of the patio cover, we had him paint her home, repair the rain gutters, repair the stucco walls and wrought iron fence, fix the shed door then he came to our place to repair the ceiling after a pipe leaked and replaced our hot water heater! His work is brilliant. He takes great pride in doing a job well done and treats you as if you were his family! With decades of experience as a private contractor, i truly believe there isn't anything he can't do! He is truly an answer to my prayers as knowing he is there to help my mother and to help us gives me huge peace of mind!

We wanted new granite counter tops for our kitchen and a island built. We wanted our island to match our existing kitchen cabinets color as well. Germain came out the same day I reached out to him to measure and gave us an estimate, turn around time, and was very informative, professional, and very reasonable. Throughout the process, he was always in contact with us, giving us updates, and keeping us informed of how the work was coming along on my island. The island we had made has 2 trash can pull out on one side, and a cookware organizer that was customized to fit in the middle cabinet, and another cabinet for storage, he later informed us we had room to add 4 more drawers up top, which we accepted to have done. It came out great, the color of the island was identical to our existing cabinets. We were very impressed. His guys he had doing the granite work were also very professional, punctual, and did a beautiful job on the counter tops. I would definitely be using Germain again for our future projects as he's a licensed general contractor. It was a nice, stress free, experience to upgrade our kitchen working with Germain at Greenview Construction.

My best experience with the contractor) in just a week we make our house look fresh so I can sell it. They painted the house, installed a new washer and dryer, changed the tile in the bathroom, installed a new bath tub etc! Everything was done so fast and clean. It’s very important how workers take care about your stuff. They never make profit on the materials. Arut gave me all the receipts so I can check and make sure they didn’t return materials without my knowing!

What an incredibly lucky find. My main sewer line needed replacing and not only did Jesus do an amazing job, his attitude and the attitude of his coworkers was absolutely outstanding. What a pleasure it was working with him. I'll be sure that this guy is my go to plumber and the one I'll be recommending to friends and family. Side note, I got an estimate from 6 different plumbers. His was the best rate!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How often do you clean a septic tank?

For homeowners with a septic system, it’s important to have a regular septic cleaning schedule. To protect ground and drinking water, the Environmental Protection Agency recommends residential septic cleaning every three years. Many septic system companies state that you can maintain a healthy system with regular septic cleanings every three to five years. In addition to cleaning, a septic tank inspection once a year will uncover problems and can save you thousands in cleanup and repair.

When waste goes into your septic system, it separates into three parts. The solids (sludge) drop to the bottom, wastewater floats in the middle, and a layer of scum rises to the top. Regularly scheduled cleanings prevent the sludge in your septic tank from building up and clogging your tank, leading to an overflow. Pricing for a standard septic cleaning ranges between $200 and $500, with the national average cost at $315. It’s easier, more cost-effective, and better for your home health to keep your septic tank maintained.

What are plumbers and what do they do?

Plumbers are skilled professionals who are trained to install and maintain pipes and systems for drinking water, sewage and drainage. They usually have trained through four- to five-year training programs, which include apprenticeships, via trade schools and community colleges. Plumbers’ areas of expertise typically go beyond pipes to include mathematics, blueprint reading, plumbing codes and water distribution. They handle plumbing emergencies, such as broken pipes or clogged drains, and install and maintain everything from a new piping system to a replacement faucet. Plumbers also know how to install bathtubs and showers, toilets, water heaters and dishwashers. Plumbers may work on residential or commercial sites, sometimes designing and laying out a pipe system during construction.

Who pumps septic tanks?

Septic system professionals pump septic tanks. Pros in different states will have different licensing and certification regulations. Make sure the company you hire is licensed and certified, is a legitimate business, and has the appropriate insurance. Damage to your septic system could cost thousands of dollars in cleanup and repair, so it’s best to hire a qualified professional from the start.

Using an industrial-strength vacuum hose connected to a tanker truck, the septic tank company will pump out the contents of your tank. First they break up the scum of the top layer, then mix the sludge (on the bottom) into the wastewater for removal. To get all the sludge and scum from the tank, pros may use a tool called a septage spoon that loosens stubborn waste from the sides of the tank. After the tank is hosed down and empty, it is inspected for any cracks or leaks that could lead to trouble in the future. The waste in the truck is then transported and disposed of at a waste management treatment center, a cesspool or an approved dumping site.

When should you clean a septic system?

Experts agree that you should clean your septic system every three to five years for optimal system health and safe water. You should also have it inspected every year to catch minor issues before they become major. If you think you may be overdue for a septic cleaning, here are signs that you should call a pro immediately.

  • You’re at capacity: If the bottom of the scum layer is within six inches of the bottom of the tank’s outlet or if the top of the sludge layer is within 12 inches of the outlet, your tank needs to be pumped, according to the EPA.
  • It stinks: If you can smell wastewater, call a pro right away to clean your tank, pipes and field.
  • Sewage backup: Raw sewage backing up into the pipes in your home is no fun. The pros can pump out your pipes, clean your tanks and clear any clogs, but it will be a complex and messy job.
  • Pooling water: Water collecting around your tank or drain field can be a sign you need to clean your septic system.
  • Super grass: If the grass above your septic system drain field suddenly gets vibrantly green and lush, the septic tank leak could be leaking sewage and fertilizing your lawn in unwanted ways. Call a pro to inspect it right away.

How much is it to clean a septic tank?

Nobody wants their septic tank to back up. Regular septic cleaning and pumping is important to keep your ground and drinking water protected from harmful bacteria. The Environmental Protection Agency recommends septic system cleaning every three years. The national average cost for a septic tank specialist is $315. Costs for septic cleaning may vary based on where you live, how large your septic tank is, and how long it has been since the last cleaning. If it’s been many years since you’ve had your tank cleaned, the process of breaking up and removing the solids may take longer and could cost more. Typical residential septic tanks range in size from 1,000 to 2,500 gallons. The price range for septic cleaning usually averages $200-$500, with varying by tank size. Repairs or replacement parts will also add to your cost. To keep your septic tank in good health between cleanings, only flush approved items such as toilet paper, and don’t rely on your garbage disposal for composting. Items that don’t break down easily (like lemon rinds or feminine hygiene products) can back up the septic system, leading to clogs and overflow. If you smell the unmistakable odor of sewage or can see sewage bubbling up above your drain field, call for a septic cleaning immediately.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
