Yael, is a true professional. I’m five months pregnant and she did an amazing job making me feel so relaxed and relieving pain I felt in my shoulders and lower back. She taught me stretches I can do to help with during my pregnancy. Her equipment was clean and she was pleasant.

Chad's style of massage was perfect for what I needed. I have been having back and neck problems for a while now and he intuitively knew where he needed to focus on without me even telling him where it hurt the most. He covered all the major and minor muscle groups and did so at the perfect level of pressure for me. I need a 10 out of 10 pressure-wise and he fulfilled that and more. He's is the first masseur I have ever had who was able to do that, so I was pleasantly surprised. His space is clean and well put together. His music was nice and relaxing. The hot towels he had were amazing. I felt like I was at a high-end spa. I will definitely be back for more.

"One is certainly blessed to encounter the healing hands of Dorace Falone. :) " With 3 bulging discs in my L3-L5 region + arthritis, I have had many a massage/healing session in my time. Be it in the form of a chiropractic session, spa, shiatsu, acupuncture... you name it. In January of 2016 I was in a car accident. Nothing "major" or hospitalizing, but just enough good random impact to send my body into shock - seize up my muscles - spasming my back. I knew from previous experience that it was beneficial to have a massage to help assistance the tissue back into finding "safe mode". As my go-to CMT for the last 10 years had moved to Italy (can't blame her), I was racking my brain for someone that I could trust with the delicate nature of my back condition. I have known Dorace for quite some time - but never in this capacity. I was a little reluctant at first, thinking "she is my friend - what happens if she isn't good??" But I was in far too much discomfort to not take the chance. And I am SO glad I did. :) I have noticed overtime that massage therapy is about, 10% knowledge of physical anatomy and 90% intuition. The CMTs that allow their hands to follow the intuitive path in locating the pain and discomfort are far more effective than those doing a set standard of choreographed handwork. Dorace's touch was guided in such a supple and caring fashion - with an ability to get deep into the tissue spaces - in a non intrusive way. Imagine the muscles all tight - having one big house party that is annoying the hell out of you (your brain)... Dorace came to break up that party without them even realizing! She did this by encountering each component of tension - greeting it, dancing with it and then letting it know it was OK to leave :) The result = She cleaned house! :) Initially, I thought that I would need a few sessions - which is often the case with my back and can be necessary for many people to see sustained results. However, after this 1 session with Dorance combined with the proper care and follow up on my side was all it took to dismiss the discomfort. :) I am SO grateful for her talents and highly recommend her CMT service. One is certainly blessed to encounter the healing hands of Dorace Falone. :)

Chris was great. It was very easy to set the appointment and he arrived exactly when he said he would. We were doing two massages and Chris asked to arrive early to set up the room. He does a great job turning the massage space into a "spa". I loved the heated massage table and warm towels and eye covers. He played great music and really just did a great job of turning a regular in-home massage into a elegant, blissful experience. We have had a lot of in-home massages and no one has ever given us quite the spa experience like Chris. And, the massages, they were great. He was very attentive to the amount of pressure and technique. It was obvious he knew what he was doing as he commented on areas where I was sore or really tight without my saying anything. I highly recommend Chris for in-home, spa experience massage.

This place is amazing. It feels more like medical tearment office than spa. If you want to relax and fall asleep, then this is not the right place for you. If you want skin treatment that will leave your skin looking , clear, clean and health, then this is the perfect place. The do use cheap products. They use only top and expensive products. And this is the first, place that did all extraction without leaving marks original scars on my face

I met Angelica at ONA SPA, in west Hollywood, as was a manager and ran the front of house. She was the most requested therapist, and in very high demand. Her body work is like non-other. I have to say "hands down" the best massage/body work I have ever had, and I have done A LOT of massages in my life. The last cranial session I had with her, I left like my whole life had been transformed. I called her and asked "what did you do to me? I have never felt better in my life." I had an experience of pure bliss and happiness, that's the only way I can explain it without sounding too woo woo. I recommend all my clients to her, and I myself will never go to anyone but her, honestly, NO ONE compares to Angelica.

Stephanie has outstanding technique and was able to really work on those tight spots. Now the stress that I had been holding has been released, and I feel relaxed. After speaking with her, it is clear she brings a wealth of experience to the massage table. She doesn't disappoint! I had medium-firm pressure applied and it was perfect, head to toe. She also brings soothing music, a comfortable and sturdy table, lotions and salves with aromatherapy essential oils to calm your soul. To be honest, I was delightfully surprised by how spa-like and professional the time was. And the best part is that I am now relaxing in the comfort of my own home, drinking a lovely cup of tea. Looking forward to my next massage with Stephanie.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

      What is a facial?

A facial is a restorative cosmetic treatment for the skin on your face. Facials can be performed by a licensed cosmetician, esthetician, dermatologist or other qualified provider. Spas,  medi-spas and other skin care centers offer facials. Most offer different types of facials that address the most pressing skin care needs such aging, dryness, sagging, pigmentation, etc.

The national average cost for a facial is $60-$80. More complex facials, such as microdermabrasion or chemical peel, will cost more, as will services provided by a dermatologist or plastic surgeon. The products used can also affect the cost of your facial; high-end creams and serums will likely result in a higher cost. For most non-medical facials, the practitioner will perform a skin assessment, determining your skin type and learning about your lifestyle, diet and skin care concerns. Then the facialist will cleanse and exfoliate the skin, extract any blackheads and clear clogged pores, give a facial massage, apply a treatment mask and then apply moisturizers. Typically facials are relaxing and restorative, leaving your skin clear and dewy.

      What is Thai massage?

Thai massage, also called Thai yoga massage, combines acupressure and assisted yoga postures. Thai massage is based on the flow of energy through the body and focuses on energy lines called “sen.” It doesn’t use oils or lotions and, instead of rubbing muscles, the massage therapist compresses, pulls, stretches and rocks the recipient’s body to promote the flow of energy through these sen. In this form of massage therapy, practitioners use their hands, knees, legs and feet to apply deep muscle compression and stretch the body. It’s often performed on a mat on the floor instead of on a massage table. Like most forms of massage, Thai massage is used to relieve stress, improve range of motion and enhance flexibility. Some people also use Thai massage to address a range of health issues, including:

      • Relieving tension headaches
      • Decreasing back pain
      • Reducing joint stiffness and pain
      • Stimulating circulation and lymphatic drainage
      • Boosting energy

Because a traditional Thai massage session covers all of the muscles in your body, it typically lasts 90 minutes to 120 minutes.

How much do you tip a massage therapist?

All forms of massage therapy, from Thai massage to Swedish massage to deep tissue massage, are similar to other spa or hospitality services. So it’s appropriate to tip a massage therapist the standard hospitality rate of 15 percent to 20 percent of the cost of the session. For example, the national average cost for a deep tissue massage is $70-$90, so expect to tip $12-$18. Of course, you can always tip more or less depending on your experience, especially if you’ve opted for extra services. For example, expect to tip more for a couple’s hot stone massage session that includes aromatherapy. Also, if you’re paying with a gift certificate or coupon, or purchasing a discounted multi-session package, make sure to calculate your tip based on the full price of the massage.

      Which facial is best?

The wide variety of names, methods, techniques and technologies for facials can be confusing. The best facial for you depends on your skin care needs. If you’re aging and want to address wrinkles and sun spots, you may want a chemical peel, while for acne you may want a deep pore cleansing treatment. Consulting with a licensed esthetician, cosmetologist or dermatologist will help guide your choice. Skin care professionals specialize in assessing your skin and determining which course of treatment will help you achieve your goals. Here is a basic overview of the best facials for different outcomes:

      • Reduce wrinkles: A chemical peel can help stimulate skin cell turnover, creating a fresh new layer thanks to the salicylic or glycolic acids. It’s important to work with an experienced professional when getting a chemical peel so you choose the right level for your skin type.
      • Prevent acne: Enzyme facials or LED facials help battle acne breakouts.
      • Smooth skin tone: Microdermabrasion facials are done using a small tool that polishes off your dead skin cells to reveal a fresh layer of skin underneath.
      • Relax and rejuvenate: A traditional European facial often features warm steamed towels, a facial massage, deep skin cleansing and exfoliation, extractions (as desired), face masks, and applications of serums and moisturizers to leave your skin refreshed and you feeling great.

What is a mini facial treatment?

A mini facial treatment is an abbreviated version of a classic European facial treatment. Typically provided in 30 minutes, it’s short enough to complete during a lunch break but long enough to feel luxurious. Before any treatment begins, most providers will do an assessment of your skin to determine the appropriate products to use, such as anti-acne or anti-aging. During a mini facial treatment, the licensed esthetician or cosmetologist will prepare your face by gently wrapping it in warm, moist towels. The heat of the warm towels loosens the pores of your skin, readying it for cleansing and treatment. After steaming, the skin care provider will cleanse your skin, then apply an exfoliant, often a fruit enzyme exfoliant. Next, the provider will apply the appropriate serums and moisturizers for your skin type, and often give a small massage. Mini facial treatments are more cost-effective than traditional facials, which typically last 60-90 minutes. They’re the perfect splurge when you need an affordable pampering session.
