JaxWilde Animal Care/Training & Personal Assistance & Organization
About this pro
Received Best of 2015 and 2016 from Thumbtack for excellent reviews. DOG TRAINING AND ANIMAL CARE: Lots of people have a set training for working with dogs that they aren't comfortable varying. I'm different in that I listen and observe very carefully and find what will work for you and your dog. My work seldom uses treats, but occasionally it fits the bill. I do my best to be firm, consistent and compassionate in working with dogs (and their owners). So the cues for a sit, down, come as always the same. Praise is what they work for and short play periods, and your relationship with the dog is the key. I use a training collar, for light, brief, corrections. Also, training isn't just a one time thing, but requires regular daily practice, especially while they are learning and continuing as needed. This is partly depending on what you want to do with your dog. I work hard to understand each dog and leave you both happier and better off. A good Citizen Canine is a joy. I treat your animals as I do my own. And I have received Best Thumbtack awards for 2015 and 2016. ORGANIZATION AND PERSONAL ASSISTANT: I also provide services related to organization, moving, errands, editing, internet, etc. I have used my organizational skills in every job I have ever had and including in my own life. I work with each client to produce a system that works for him or her, because if it doesn't work for you, it doesn't work. I am also sensitive that our things are important to us and we need to tread carefully with how to manage them. Here is a letter from a lady I have been working for for 2 years. As she has no email, she couldn't leave it as a review. "Jackie has turned my life around! She has helped me carry out projects I'd been putting off for years: * organizing/purging file cabinets, closets, and a large storage area overflowing with a lifetime's worth of memorabilia, * selecting service providers for needed home improvements, * and above all, determining options and priorities for these and other tasks, so that I no longer feel overwhelmed. As a result of Jackie's assistance , I've lost over 50 pounds (the weight of obsolete business documents taken to the shredder) and gained her thoughtfully-prepared files lists, storage inventories, and action agendas...No more guessing where to find things - or what to do next. Jackie also serves as my Personal Assistant, dealing with sensitive areas such as a 10-year-old claim which I couldn't resolve on my own. Thanks to Jackie, the matter has been settled successfully. In all these matters, Jackie has been fully responsive to my needs, focused and hardworking, patient, flexible, creative, and intelligent. She is hones and absolutely trustworthy. And on top of this, she is fun to work with - great sense of humor. I give Jackie my highest recommendation. (for more information, let Jackie know you would like to speak with me)." I love the dogs and enjoy helping them communicate with their owners and visa versa. Dogs are so smart and it is fascinating to work on communicating with another species that is so devoted to us. It involves never-ending learning; and generally improves us as people as well. As a former Marriage Family Counselor, I really enjoy helping people become less frustrated with their dogs and get the wonderful effects of having a loving and well behaved animal in their lives. I love helping people to feel more at ease in their homes and situations. Helping someone organize their lives is extremely satisfying to me.
Customers rated this pro highly for work quality, responsiveness, and value.

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?Right now, I am offering a session of training (usually about an hour) for $35. Walking dogs and general care is $25/hr. Organizing $35/hr.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?I go to the home of the customer and meet them and the dog (or cat), or look at what they want to work on organizationally, and listen to what their concerns are. I ask questions to discover what they want for the time I would be putting in. If it is walking and/or caring for the animal, I determine what they want and get a tour of their house and yard. If it is training that they want, I give them an overview or how I work, what would be required of them, and then we see if we are a match. If it is organization, they show and tell me what they have and what they want done, and we start a dialogue about it.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I am an avid reader of dog books and I continue to work with Dominic Kavanaugh, the owner of Citizen Canine, a master trainer to whom I apprenticed myself for three years, and who I still work with.
