I was born in Glasgow, Scotland in March 24, 1964. I grew up in Baltimore, Maryland, and later went to the American Culinary Institute (affiliated with the Culinary Institute of America) in Kansas City, Kansas, in 1986. I moved to San Diego in 1989.
