I've been taking guitar and singing lessons with David for a few months, and I've got to say I've had a really great time learning from him! David is an incredibly friendly and knowledgeable teacher who clearly cares about his students and their goals, and better still has played and performed with the artists that I like best. It took me a while to find a teacher who was willing to teach me the music I wanted to play instead of starting with their core competence, so it was really refreshing that within a month or two with plenty of practice I was able to learn one of my favorite songs (Three Rounds and a Sound by Blind Pilot, if you're curious), and a little longer to start singing it, which I was really stoked about. He has been great about breaking things down when the piece we're working on is too challenging. David has also pushed me to pursue my goal of creating music, helping along the way to create melodies and lyrics. I have to say, it takes a great teacher to get me to sing and to share lyrics with them (do you know how embarrassing that can be?). I could go on, but suffice it to say, David is a great teacher, and I'm really glad I started taking lessons with him.

I have had guitar lessons with John Lewis for two months now and I have to say without a doubt, he has exceeded my expectations in every way. Not only is he a very talented musician, he also possesses a rare talent for communicating and teaching guitar and musical concepts that are sometimes hard to grasp. He is patient, kind, encouraging, inspirational, and very creative in his teaching style. He knows how to judge exactly how much information I can handle at one time and I never leave feeling overwhelmed. He always makes the lessons interesting, challenging, and FUN! I am so grateful to have found this wonderful teacher and I highly recommend him to anyone from beginner to advanced. He truly is the Best of the Best!!!

Jerry was very charismatic and knowledgeable about bass guitar. I've played guitar for a few years and recently picked up a used bass, and I took several lessons with Jerry to explore the fundamentals of bass playing. He quickly pointed out some problems in the way I played coming from guitar and pushed me to improve so I could play better and help protect myself from injuries. He also worked with me to improve the feel of my bass playing, that hard-to-describe quality that clearly separates a good player from a weak one. I'm glad I found Jerry and he got me on the right path!

Paul is my favorite bass player in the universe. The perfect balance of groove, chops and creativity. As a producer, the tracks he's done for me are stellar performances and he makes every project he participates in better with his attention to detail wether the music is ultra-complex or simple folk tune and everything in between. Can't go wrong with Sounder.

About

My name is Thomas. I've been playing guitar for over 15 years now. I want to teach students to play what they want while also learning the basic fundamentals of guitar. If they want to learn their favorite pop song I'm going to teach them it, if they want to become an amazing guitar player I will teach them how to become that as well.

Sam is great - a real laid back style but deep grasp of music. I've advanced in a very short period of time.

About

I have been playing for 42 yrs. Enough said. I like to think that within a song are many lessons and techniques that can teach, but at the same time keep the interest of the student by having fun.

I earned my Master's Degree from the SF Conservatory of Music in Double Bass Performance in 2006 and I perform regularly around the Bay Area. I specialize in classical technique/repertoire and jazz technique/theory. I would also be happy in helping electric bass students learn rock theory, songs, etc. This offer is for serious students only. Beginners are expected to practice fifteen minutes a day. I work primarily out of a home studio in SF, but I am willing to travel. I offer one free trial lesson to gauge student's ability. Pricing is set accordingly to the location of lessons. I am a music theory and guitar instructor. I teach using the various goal oriented methods that have proven themselves to work in the musicianship and playing of both myself and my students. I offer a money-back guarantee. I have never taught someone who hasn't grown as a musician and/or guitarist after studying with me. I have formal training in most styles of music, and I am happy to teach all levels of advancement. I also offer group lessons which is a great way to save money for two or more students that are at similar levels.
