FAQs
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I recently staged a home that had some furniture in it but the secondary bedrooms were empty and appeared very small. The listing agent believed that this was the reason the home was not selling. The first people who saw the house after I was done staging it, bought it!
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
There are a lot of stagers out there. Most have websites filled with pictures of beautifully staged rooms. Few have pictures of what the room looked like before they staged it. Interior Design is easier than Staging. When you are hired as an Interior Designer, you start with a blank slate. You can paint the walls any color you wish, you can lay your choice of flooring and you can purchase the perfect pieces of furniture that tie all these things together. As a stager you usually have to design around what is already there. So when you can see what a stager had to start with and what they ended up with, then you will see how talented they really are. Make sure they have BEFORE pictures, not just the afters. You can view all my Before & After photos on my website.
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
You know that "I want to live here!" feeling you get when you tour a model home, that is how you want prospective buyers to feel about your home. It creates instantaneous interest in your property above and beyond other properties that prospective buyers will see. That is what sells your home faster and for more money. THAT is exactly what staging does. It makes a huge difference for such a small investment.
