Mina was on time and did the diagnostics for a problem I was having with my washer. He gave me the repair estimate and deducted the service call amount from the estimate. I called him later to hire him. He ordered the parts and came 2 days later to repair the washer. The charge was much less than what I had read online was the cost for this repair. Mina was thorough and professional. I would definitely hire him again!

Friendly, professional, efficient. Although we didn't hire him to complete the rest of the washing machine repair (we decided to purchase a new one instead), we will definitely keep Sam in mind for future services. keep Sam in mind

Javier was amazing! We will use him all the time for our repair needs. We had a washer and dryer on the fritz and he fixed both of them for a very very reasonable price. He is our new handyman for our home. So happy we found him. I recommend him to anyone!

Made appointment between 9:00 am to 12:00 noon. Showed up just before 10:30. Took less than 5 minutes to diagnose issue. Provided fair quote. Took about 90 minutes to complete repair. Overall satisfied with service and price. Would use again.

Nick responded quickly to my initial request and arrived on time the following morning. He quoted me $35 charge over the phone but more than quadrupled his quote after a 20 minute repair. He simply re-screwed the hinge back into the top of the fridge. The entire effort took 20 minutes for which he tried to bill me $154. I told him that he'd been here less than 1/2 hour and supplied no materials. I offered him $100, he countered with $120. I told him $100 or nothing and he accepted. $154 for screwing in one screw is highway robbery. His work was adequate but not worth the his outrageous charge.

Hector came and fixed my washing machine just when I thought I'd have to buy a new one. It is a stacked washer/dryer unit inside of a closet. When I had another technician out, they would not move the unit to do the repair. I was told to hire a third party to move the unit and then he'd do the repair. Hector was able to move the unit (by himself!) and do a very dirty job for half what the other guy quoted me. He was punctual and respectful. There was some water that got on my carpets, but I think with how bad it was backed up - that's to be expected. I had a neighbor that ended up buying a new dryer because they couldn't get anyone to do their repair. I wish I had known Hector then!

They were very courteous. The quote was promptly done. Then, once we ordered the part needed and gave a deposit; we had a customer service issue with the ordered part taking too long to arrive and no communication about it. HOWEVER John Sa absolutely took care of us as soon as he learned what was going on. The only reason we had not heard form DNE is because he was unaware of the situation. From then on, he called me with updates exactly when he said he would, he texted me... he even ensured someone else was in touch with me 3 times in one day to give me status of my part arrival. He provided excellent customer service and made sure we knew he valued our business. The tech came out and did the repair in a timely manner, no mess, very professional. He did a great job! The repair was great. He even followed up with a call days later, to make sure the refrigerator was running well. Overall, they really care about finishing the job right and they know their business.

It took two visits to fix my problem but the repair was finished and my dryer works great. The repair man was polite and worked hard to get the old part off so it could be replaced. The price was very reasonable. While setting up my appointments their response was very quick.

Andy responded immediately to my repair request for my broken dryer and was able to diagnose the issue quickly. He ordered the piece that was needed and fixed it. He arrived at exactly the time he said he would. He also vacuumed and cleaned up any dust and mess that resulted from the repair. I would definitely hire him again to fix my appliances!

I had him come to remove a ceiling fan and install a new ceiling fan and wall switch. Because did such a nice job, I had him remove and install two bath faucets one of which needed more repair than I thought. He also repaired my tub faucet which I knew needed lots of work. If I need anymore repairs, I will definitely call him.

Phil was very knowledgeable about the problem with my refrigerator, came out promptly, took everything apart, diagnosed the problem, and told me that a repair would only be a bandaid. I really appreciated his honesty, as did not try to sell me parts that would only temporarily fix the problem. He cleaned up the area, and only charged me the $40 as he only did a diagnostic. He was here for about an hour. Very pleased.....

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does refrigerator repair cost?

Refrigerator repair generally costs a fraction of the price of a new fridge and shouldhave your appliance up and running again in no time. The problems your refrigerator is experiencing and the parts required to fix it will affect your repair costs. Where you live can affect labor rates, which will raise or lower your costs. Here are some examples of average costs:

  • Diagnostic fees: $50-$100. Repair pros often have a service call fee or diagnostic fee to account for their time traveling to your location with all their tools to assess the problem. If you choose to have them repair the fridge, most pros then credit this fee toward your repair cost.
  • Parts: $20-$500. A new compressor averages $200, an icemaker $300, and computerized components such as touch screens and control boards average $300 or more.
  • Basic repairs: $180-$400, including parts. This price range can include repairing the evaporator or fan motor.

How long do fridges last?

Refrigerators can last 10 to 20 years, although the most common lifespan is about 13 years. If your fridge is acting up, consider its current age when deciding whether to invest in repairs or buy a new one. Common easy fixes include faulty thermostats, dirty coils and clogged drain lines. Thermostats and dirty coils can be generally be fixed for an average cost of $80-$100. Clogged drain lines, which usually cause leaks, can often be fixed for under $200.

More complex refrigeration repairs such as replacing a bad compressor or replenishing low refrigerant can cost more because of expensive parts and higher labor. A new compressor costs an average of $200, not including labor. If labor is an average of $75-$100 per hour, and the repair takes 3 hours, you’re looking at roughly $500. Consider the age and purchase cost of your fridge; investing $350 in a $600 fridge that is 8 years old may not be cost-effective.
