Barry has been excellent and skill set is diverse. He has experience with plumbing and bath, tile, flooring, finish carpentry, pavers, light electrical, water filtration system. He also painted our house. He cleaned up an awful mess our contractor left us and did it with a smile and w/o judgement. Overall the quality of his work is excellent and he will always offer options on price but typically suggests the cheapest route. Bravo Barry !!!

Do not hesitate to call G B Construction for gutter cleaning and replacement and leaf guards. They are prompt, quick, thorough, friendly and professional. Their charges are reasonable, and they do not upsell. I understand that they also do tile and wood floors, painting and household moving. I will be using them again and again.

We needed laminate flooring installed in our great room and den. Ben and his crew were excellent. They were timely, treated our house with care is if it were their own, and did not rush through the job even though the install went into the evening. Ben followed up a few days later to make sure we were satisfied with the results. They are fixing some of the common issues that arise shortly after an install to make sure our floors continue to look amazing. They even installed brand new base boards! And to top it off, his price was very affordable. I need tile installed in my kitchen and will be calling Ben to do that install today! If you want quality, attention to detail and great attitudes to go along with it, I highly recommend Ben's Flooring & More!

I had a number of issues with the tile company that I was working with (not enough tile sent, sent the wrong color, etc), so that extended the timeline of my kitchen floor project significantly. Juan was incredibly patient and flexible and use his own time on weekends to finish my project which I really appreciated and he did not have to do! I would definitely recommend him and use him again.

Installed quartz countertop with tile backsplash. It was a little hard getting him to understand some things such as how to install the faucet, but job was good for the price.

I hired Bay Wide Hauling to clear out a retail space, which included removing an old linoleum tile floor, a half wall, and a large awning, as well as hauling away old carpet and debris. They showed up on time, did a great job, as well as they were friendly and polite. I believe the cost for the scope of work performed was very fair. Without a doubt, I will hire them again!

Cesar has been working on our money pit with us since we bought it four years ago, helping with a long list of differed maintenance projects and sudden emergencies. These have included plumbing, electrical, carpentry and tile work inside and out. We were very lucky to find him. He is responsive, diligent, conscientious and his standard of workmanship is very high. On top of that he's a pleasure to have around. You won't find better.

Nick (owner, Colony Construction) and Dakota are doing a medium scale bathroom remodel in our new house. We didn't have a contractor recommendation when we decided to have the bathroom remodeled, so we were careful to call Nick's references before we began. All the references gave glowing feedback about Colony Construction and Nick specifically. Nick is wonderful to work with: his work is conscientious, careful, and clean. He explains every step of the process, and keeps us updated on progress and upcoming steps. He has good ideas for meeting our needs when obstacles crop up (it's an old house). We're very happy with his and Dakota's work, and would highly recommend them.

I worked with Floor Coverings International (Concord) for my bathroom remodel and love the worm they did so much I had them install new hardwood throughout my whole house and I could not have asked for anything better. I'm so lucky I found out about this company, after years of different contractors and big name business giving me nothing but headaches and hidden charges, this team came through and made everything easier. They don't your time with a tacky sales pitch, no sugar coated fees, and No surprises. Just a professional, dedicated, and diligent team that were with me every step of the way. Everyone and I mean EVERYONE on their team is amazing, from the front desk to the installation crew- they all treat their customers like family and go above and beyond to get you what you want! Thank you FCI!!! I love love love my new tigerwood floors, marble and white porcelain tile batbroom😍 You have helped me create my dream house and I will be telling everyone I know to use you!!!

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to tile a shower?

The cost of tiling a shower depends on two main factors: the size of the shower and the quality of the tiles. In general, most professional tilers charge an average of $25 per square foot of tiled area and the national average cost for a tile installation project is $490-$750. The tiles themselves are the greatest variable; the cost depends on their size, shape, pattern and manufacturer. For example, tile purchased at a volume discount from a big-box store cost far less than tiles made in small batches by an artisan ceramics shop. Prices can range from as little as $1 to $50 or more per square foot of tile. Other factors that will drive up the total tile installation cost are grout and mortar, speciality tiles like bullnose caps or soap holders, and surface prep materials, especially if drywall needs to be replaced before the tile can be installed. Many tile installers will also remove and haul away any old materials from an existing shower installation.

How much does it cost to install a ceramic tile floor?

Tile installation costs for ceramic floors depend on the type of tile you select. You can purchase tile that sells for under $2 per square foot or tile that costs $50 per square foot — or more for artisanal and hand-painted tiles. The cost of labor to install a tile floor will also depend on the tile you select. It is far less labor-intensive to install a white 12-inch by 12-inch square tile than a 2-inch by 2-inch hexagonal tile with a distinct pattern. That extra time and energy equates to a higher per-square-foot installation cost. For example, a flooring pro may charge approximately $3.50 per square foot for labor to install wood-look tile in an area ranging between 6 feet by 24 feet and 8 feet by 48 feet. That same pro may charge $6 or more per square foot for a more intricate pattern, or a smaller space. Some installers may charge a minimum day rate for ceramic tile floor installation, such as $340 minimum per day, to cover business expenses and employee wages. If you’re looking to reduce costs, removing your existing flooring and handling any repairs needed can help eliminate prep work costs. Prep work may be charged per hour and could cost anywhere from $25 to $80 per hour or more, depending on the region and the type of repair work necessary.

How much does it cost to tile a bathroom?

Tile installation costs are a key part of your bathroom remodel costs. The tile you select (which can range from under $2 per square foot to $50 per square foot or more), the demolition and repair work required prior to installation, and the size of the job will all affect cost. You can install tile in the shower, on the counters, on the wall or on the floor. The national average for tile installation cost ranges between $490 and $750. Bathroom tile is easy to clean and durable for daily life. Here are some examples of average bathroom tile installation costs:

      • Tile installation at $25 per square foot of tiled bathroom area.
        • A standard tub and shower combo requires tiles for approximately 60 inches of length. Calculate wall height and add 30 to 36 inches of tub width for the walls at the head and foot of the tub. If the tile walls are 6 feet to 8 feet high, in this example, the tile installation costs would run about $2,000. Price includes materials.
      • Tile installation on a 3-foot by 5-foot regular tub and shower walls with an 8-foot ceiling: $1,450. Price includes materials.
      • Tile installation on a 3-foot by 5-foot regular tub and shower walls with a 10-foot ceiling: $1,650. Price includes materials.

How much does it cost to install tile?

Tile installation costs vary widely depending on the tiles you choose, where you want them installed, and what kind of demolition and surface preparation you need to have done. The national average cost for a tile installation project is $490-$750. The more tiles that need to be cut by hand and laid on the surface, the higher the total cost. Tile installation professionals can handle many different types of stone, ceramic and porcelain tiles, applying them in kitchens, bathrooms, hallways and entranceways. They can create anything from artistic mosaic backsplashes in your kitchen to modern shower enclosures to rustic patios in your backyard. Tile installation professions often can remove existing flooring or old tiles and replace drywall. Tile prices range from $1 to more than $50 per square foot — handmade ones are even priced individually — depending on the material. Rustic, handmade or special-use tiles cost more to install because they must be applied to the surface one by one, rather than in a sheet. For most jobs, tile installation costs are based on the square footage of the project. For example, a standard 6-foot by 8-foot shower tile installation can average $1,200-$1,600, depending on whether the tiles go to the top of the shower or to the ceiling. The total cost of a tiling project also includes the grout and mortar, speciality tiles like bullnose caps, and tile mounting materials like backer board.

How much does it cost to install tiles in a kitchen?

One of the most common kitchen upgrades is installing decorative backsplash tiles in the space between the counters and cabinets. It’s a chance for homeowners to get creative while also protecting the kitchen walls from splashes and stains. Like all tiling projects, kitchen tile project costs depend on the tiles you choose, installation materials such as grout and mortar, and any surface materials, like replacement backer board. The national average for a tiled kitchen backsplash is $490-$750. In general, pricing averages $10-$40 per square foot for installation, not including tile. Some professional tile installers have a minimum day rate for small projects, which averages $350.
