FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I am unique because most designers do a cost plus fee. I try whenever possible to get my clients the best quality for the best value and use my designerâÂÂs certificate to help you whenever possible to get my professional discounted prices. My clients get to see the prices directly from the vendors and pay them directly plus the tax. I usually charge 20% of the total cost of the whole project and an hourly rate for smaller jobs. Most designers take a mark up of all purchases and then bill the client sometimes double or triple cost. They also do a 30% commission of the total cost. I rarely charge for travel time if it is close to my studio. I am very aware of working within someone's budget no matter how big or small and usually create the home of their dreams under budget.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I went to the prestigious Interior and Environmental Design Program at UCLA for my post graduate professional training, after receiving my degree in Fine Arts at New York University. I have decades of additional programs, workshops and seminars that I attended.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
Ever since I was a little girl my mother would change the layout of our house and was always rearranging the furniture. Every so often she would ask me how I would do it. She was a gifted, tasteful artist and designer, who had the finest quality furnishings but enjoyed re-designing the space to change the arrangement of the furniture, move art objects, etc. Eventually, she relied on my ability to create the space into a more uplifting and beautiful design. She was the one that all her friends respected when it came to exquisite taste and harmony, and then it was handed down to me!
