Singing Lessons

I could not have been happier with my experience with Annie! Each lesson was well balanced of technique (breathing and vocal), musicianship, and repertoire. Annie helped brush up my technique and get my voice back in shape before going to Chicago College of Performing Arts after taking some time off from singing. She was very patient, kind, and fun to be around, making my lesson a highlight of each week. By offering many different analogies, metaphors, and visuals in her teaching, she actively attends the individual student's needs. She understands and successfully addresses each student's different comprehension and learning patterns. Best of all, Annie digs into the mental aspect of singing, revealing how some singing barriers aren't rooted in poor technique, but rather the mental perception and preparation. Annie is a perfect choice to continue or start your musical journey with lessons that are engaging, supportive, and fun!

Singing Lessons

After just a few lessons with Annie, I’ve seen substantial improvement in my singing. Annie is such a positive teacher and does a great job creating a safe environment which has really helped me build confidence in finding my voice. I thought I would have trouble practicing with my house mates around, but Annie has helped me overcome those fears and just let loose. Taking singing classes with Annie is so much fun, there is always a smile on my face during class and a lovelier singing voice afterwards to sing an hour of karaoke.

Singing Lessons

I have only had a few lessons with Annie and my voice has already improved immensely. I am so thankful I found such a great teacher. She helps me visualize what I need to do with my voice to make the notes effortless. She is also helping me with musicianship and gives me personalized vocal warm ups. I sing regularly in theatre and in worship at my church and noticed over the years that my voice was tiring out and getting sore. Annie has helped me become aware of my bad habits when I sing, and has helped me improve my vocal health. It has definitely been worth the investment. I can't wait for the improvements to continue as the lessons continue.

Singing Lessons

My wife and I chose Annie to give our 8 yr old granddaughter Liliana her first singing lessons and we have really been happy that we picked the RIGHT person. Annie is great at relating to young children. Liliana was SO EXCITED after her first voice lesson that she had her mom facetime us right after her lesson so she could tell us about her lesson. She had a huge smile on her face the entire time and was very excited as she spoke to us. Our daughter in law told us that she likes the warm up exercises Annie gives and that Annie is helping Liliana to enunciate her words. Liliana just completed her third lesson with Annie and it will be fun to see Liliana's progress as she continues her lessons with Annie

Singing Lessons

After my first two lessons with Annie, she is absolutely fantastic! I’ve been working on a few songs for an upcoming project, and I was really struggling with my vocal solos. Not only was I unhappy with the sound I was producing, but I just couldn’t figure out how to use my voice the same way I’ve learned to use my other instruments; I’ve been a musician for a long time but just recently really started digging into singing. Annie helped me quickly identify a few key technical issues in my singing and showed me how to make great sound without using so much energy. Within minutes of implementing her suggestions, my voice already sounded clearer and more resonant. She showed me exercises to reinforce the concepts, and I’m looking forward to working more on the fundamentals with her. But Annie also helped me build a great ornamented vocal line for one of my tracks. She showed me how to weave the melody into my solo ideas so that the line was cohesive and fit within the overall context of the song. She really understood what I was going for and helped me refine what was in my head and explained how best to use my voice to express those musical ideas. I am really looking forward to continuing my work with Annie and am absolutely delighted at the progress she has helped me make so far. I highly recommend Annie for anyone looking to sing with better technical and musical control; she’s absolutely wonderful!

FAQs

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

Think of learning vocal technique like building a house, and I am the contractor. We are going to lay a strong foundation and build the house with quality materials.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I’ve been training my voice for the last 20 years and continue to do so. Having gained so much experience, I teach my students the way I wish I had been taught from the very beginning. If you want to learn HOW to use your instrument in a healthy, sustainable, and more effortless way, that’s what I do. I hold a BFA in musical theatre as well have worked extensively on stage in New York.

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

People often ask me if I teach after they hear me perform. So, I started teaching voice as a natural extension of my own singing career. If you are interested in singing musical theatre, I am especially well suited for you!
