How could they improve.... hmmmmmm. I'd suggest to hang it up and pick another trade. First week, he started by taking the roof off rather than work on the foundation. I told him it was going to rain on Halloween, he disagreed. It rained ! The water went thru the flooring right into our kitchen. That should have been a warning right there. Rain leaked into our home 3 more times. Fast forward to the first inspection - he failed everything ! Nothing passed. He put it down to a cranky inspector - shocker ! The inspector seemed perfectly civil and reasonable to me. I should have fired him right there but no, I gave him yet another chance. He tried to do all the trades himself or have his brother or cousin do it. None of them were experienced and the plumbing and electrical had to be re-done. He made so many mistakes - cut the trusses of the truss roof, cut a joist beam in the bathroom area which destroyed the structural integrity so much that I had to pay the structural engineer and architect more to come with a new structural plan. I eventually fired him on Jan 4 after he continued to argue with us about correcting the bedroom window which was not level and wouldn't close properly. Apparently, he thought he would fix it with drywall ! I reported him to the CSLB and they told me that he took money in advance that he was not entitled to do and that was a violation. Next came his 2 partners - Dave and Justin, unbeknownst to me who were sharing the licence with him (very bad mistake) and they assured me they could fix it all for the same price as remained in the contract. I must have gotten 10 days of work from them in about 10 weeks. Start, stop, wait and more wait. Totally out of their depth - really pretty clueless, no real building or trade skills at all. Called in a Plumber to fix the plumbing and an Electrician to fix the electrical all of which was a mess from the last joker. Then came the coup de gras - they wanted to shake us down for more money to fix the mess that they screwed up to begin with. I almost went for it but then when the Engineer came with a plan, they then wanted even more. That was the final straw and it finally ended when they came to visit asking for more money and he brought his Daddy who was about as bright as a blackout and was loaded for bear right from the get go. Long story short, these guys need to be out of this business. They have no business being anywhere near homeowners other than under the strictest supervision of someone who actually knows what they are doing and well away from anything complex. Stay well away. Next stop CSLB once again!May 13, 2017VerifiedBenjamin M.'s reply
Please disregard all the discrepancies from this irate customer. If you can see in these pictures the buckets are staged. Long story short John was very abusive I tried my best to take it as long as I could. Then I quit once him and his wife started to curse at me. My partners went back to finish the job. Because it would affect our license. They tried John and his wife abused them also. They were referring to my partners grandson as a little mother---------. They quit also. We still have our contractors license still insured. It's just hard to move forward with this type of review on my page. If your reading this please, I promise a professional high end top quality job. I wasn't going to respond to this type of person but it started to affect my jobs and getting people to hire us. I'm a good honest person I've been in this business since 1998 I've built whole homes. I've dealt with tough customers and never walked off a job. But I feel John wanted me to lose my license. But if I did something wrong I wouldn't have a license because the license board investigates these types of problems. I hope the best for John and his wife. I'm so torn on this issue because it's supposed to be an exiting time when building or remodeling your property. I'm feel really sorry for John and his wife. If I could make it rite I would. I even told my partner I don't know what to do. He told me stop worrying about it we will fix it. The worst thing they did was tell my partner who is like a grandfather to me that he doesn't know what he's doing. I told my partner I am you ,you taught me all I know! If your deciding to work with me. Give me a shot you will see the accusations you heard from this customer are totally false.
