Jason and a few other Videographers provided me with quotes last year. I selected Jason because he worked with me the best. Unfortunately, due to some personal issues that arose a month ago, my fiancé and I had to cancel our wedding. I contacted Jason very soon thereafter and he quickly worked to return my deposit. We hope that one day, we will be able to plan this all over again and if so, we will definitely like to work with Jason again.

I recently used 1Man1Woman Designs for photography for an event at our house. Jessica and Bobby were very responsive to my request for information and also came and spoke to us for a while, checked out our location in advance. They were on-time for the event and even stayed longer than we had originally agreed upon so that they could take more candid shots. Jessica took a good number of photos so that we could have several to choose from. She turned them around back to us within a couple of days. I had a very good experience working with them. There is only one area that would recommend that any prospective clients think about in advance and that is the lighting. We had our event outdoor in the evening. This impacted the quality of some photos with the sun streaks and shadows from trees. All in all, we were happy with the value that 1Man1Woman Designs provided.

Lou was AMAZING! I have worked with a lot of videographers and so far Lou has been the best. He made sure he understood every aspect of our event so that he could do the best job possible and was accommodating to all my requests. And his communication throughout the entire process could not have been better. I knew that when the day of our event came, he was going to be their to deliver! Our conference is jam packed with a lot of awards and presentations. He made sure to get it all and then some. When it came to editing, he had a few samll requests and I was happy to oblige. He used it to give it that high-end professional touch. High quality and super organized! I would highly recommend Lou for all your videographer needs!! Especially business conferences. Thank you Lou for all your hard work! It is greatly appreciated!

Palo and Alex were our wedding videographers and put together an amazing edit! It was super easy working with them leading up to our big day and the day-of. They're fun people and got along well with our photographers and other vendors. We received our deliverables ( + raw footage) within reasonable amount of times. HIGHLY recommend them for any wedding. Your wedding day really is a blur, and we were more than happy with our decision to go with Palo to capture all the feels of the day/night.

I was debating if i should invest in a professional camera to take pictures of my daughter playing high school sports or pay a professional to take them for me. Boy, did i make the right decision going with Timberland PhotoArt. They are very professional, my photos are high quality, action packed, and some pictures I wonder "how in the heck did she get that shot"! For the last 3yrs. I have been more than impressed with the pictures I have received. Money well spent and pictures my daughter will have forever.

Commercial and Event Shoot - we hired Ron to do the event shoot for our new facility opening and do a few external images, he delivered 10 folds, he brought his drone and was able to fly it around our facility to capture stunning video and still images. We then hired Ron the second time around to take commercial photographs of our products and equipment and once again has delivered amazing results! I recommend Ron for any photography and videography needs!

Myron and his team were the videographers for our February 2018 wedding. They were really nice and easy going, which helped us in feeling not so nervous in front of the camera. Something that stood out to me was that Myron and his team provided raw footage in addition to our highlight video. Most videographers we interviewed would not do that or added an exorbitant fee for the raw footage. In addition to providing raws, Myron actually ended up editing not jus tone, but TWO versions of our highlight video for us because he wanted us to have one that was the traditional highlight video and another more documentary style. I really felt like he went above and beyond. And these files were all provided to us in an external hard drive. We had some issues with the hard drive at first (probably due to him using Apple and us using PC), but Myron made sure to fix things and that we could open up our files! He even sent us a dropbox link to the highlight video so we can watch it while he was working on the problem with the files opening. We really appreciated his diligence and really felt he and his team really captured the joy of our big day! I was so pleased to have the videos for keepsake and would highly recommend!

Our class hired Soundbytes for our 30 year class reunion. The music was outstanding. Everyone was dancing. A perfect event. We are definitely using him for our next one. Besides the usual services: timely, dressed to impress, great stage presence, awesome music selection, going above and beyond to make our night perfect, he was reasonably priced and stayed longer then he was booked for. Thank you Terry for all you do.

My favorite thing about working with Luis was his friendly mannerisms and respect for those in attendance at our wedding. He and his helper did an outstanding job with recording us in the perfect manner. We've shared the videos with our friends and family and everyone really enjoyed watching them. Our family members that couldn't make it out to our wedding were in tears after seeing the highlights. We are super glad that we hired newlywed cinema and Luis. Couldn't have asked for a better videography team!

Jon shot video of an event we hosted for an award ceremony and did a great job. His was easy to communicate with, and he shared his work throughout the editing process to check-in with my team, to be sure it was matching our goals and expectations. And he was timely with his delivery of everything. And our video turned out wonderfully!

I’ve worked with Above and Beyond Events for several corporate and social events - and can say that they are hands down the best event company out there. For my last event (corporate fundraiser) Selina (the owner), met with me personally and went over each and every detail, and thought of multiple things that I didn’t event think about. She is quick to respond via email, and made sure that everything ran smoothly through setup and execution of the event. She created a beautiful setup, provided lovely certerpieces and even coordinated all take down after the event. I truly can’t say enough about Selina and Above and Beyond Events, my expectations have been exceeded every time.

The experience we had with Chef Drew and his excellent staff simply was truly great. Everything went so well, and from the elegant table settings, to the superb entrée selections. We truly appreciated all that was done. If l was to again require a professional caterer for any event, Still Water Catering would be the first one to call. All our guests were impressed by the elegance of the table setting, and really thought the selections and the service was first class! If you require a professional caterer, call on Still Water CatErin to fulfill your every need.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.

How much is videography for a wedding?

Wedding videography is one thing many couples regret not paying for. It may seem like just another expense during wedding planning, but it’s really special to have a moving memory of your big day. The national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. Pricing can vary depending on wedding length, special film features, the amount of editing required, and how many videographers are needed to cover the event. Many videographers offer packages that provide different levels of service. A very simple wedding documentary could be $600 or more, while a full-scale cinematic experience involving multiple videographers could be $2,500 or more. Here’s an example of average package pricing:

  • Package 1: $1,400
    • Footage during and after the ceremony, including highlights requested by the couple.
    • Two cameras with audio equipment.
    • DVD including a 3- or 4-minute edit to a song of the couple’s choice and a 45- to 50-minute raw edit covering the entire event.
    • Recordings of guests’ good wishes to the couple.
  • Package 2: $1,800
    • Includes everything from Package 1, plus an additional videographer (2 total) and aerial videography.

When do you pay your wedding videographer and wedding photographer?

Most wedding videographers and photographers require a set deposit when you hire them. Wedding season is a busy time and a deposit secures that vendor’s services for your wedding date. It also protects the vendor if the couple changes their mind at the last minute, and they can’t find a new booking and lose work for the day. The deposit may be anywhere from 20 percent to  50 percent of the agreed-upon total price. Always get a written confirmation that your deposit has been received.

The remainder of the wedding videography and photography bill may be due in the week before to your wedding or on the day of the wedding. Other vendors may require a second payment immediately before the wedding and a third and final payment after the wedding video or photos are delivered. Each vendor has their own policies, so before hiring be sure to read, understand and agree to payment protocols. There is no requirement for tipping wedding videographers or photographers, but if you do want to tip them, the end of the reception is the appropriate time.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
