I owe Valerie Wright the BIGGEST Thank You EVER for creating a perfectly matched chiffon skirt to accompany my wedding dress. For my wedding I had picked out a slim fitting ankle length guipure lace dress. However I wanted to incorporate a flowy chiffon skirt to wear during my ceremony; ultimately giving me two separate "looks" for my big day. After searching stores high and low to no avail for a matching skirt I lucked out and found Valerie on Thumbtack. I met with Valerie and after listening to my ideas she came up with a plan to design the skirt - she even had the EXACT matching fabric on hand to use for the project. Valerie designed a light weight chiffon skirt which attached to my dress and gave me the separates look I was hoping for. The skirt matched the dress so well that no one knew it was not originally meant to be worn together. I had many compliments on the skirt and wedding dress and I am very thankful for Valerie's time and the effort she put into making it for me. Valerie made time for multiple fittings and worked with me to add on a few extras to both the skirt and dress as well as doing some basic alterations on the dress itself. She is a extremly skilled designer and has an apparent passion for clothing, fashion, and costume design. Valerie was enjoyable to work with and I would HIGHLY recommend her services!
Linda Duclos helped me create a stunningly beautiful wedding gown in just 4 1/2 weeks. I met Linda while shopping for wedding fabric downtown L.A. We met briefly while standing in line as her client over heard me talking to the owner of the store about my swiftly approaching wedding. Her client cut nicely into our conversation. She asked me who was making my dress. I said I'm not sure but needed to find some immediately. She told me about Linda who designed many costumes and special event dresses for her. Linda over heard her talking to me and she poked her around head to say hello. We spoke briefly and she gave me her number. I walked away with a good sense of, " I'm definitively going to give this woman a call!" I had found some great vintage wedding patterns and vintage evening dress patterns off the net. Unfortunately most the patterns I choose were sold out. But I downloaded the pattern covers anyway for reference. I spoke with Linda I think it was the next day. I made an appointment and went to see her at her lovely home. After seeing her portfolio and chatting with her about her work, I couldn't help but see she had a excellent eye for detail; for craftsmanship, which I respect so much and love because I was costume designer for a long time. I know what it takes to make a garment of choice. I gave her my fabric and it began. She was awesome and let me figure out the real look I wanted; along with her insightful input that I needed to anchor help my ideas. Linda was really patient with me at every turn of the design and in the building of the dress. I was able to tell her how I felt and if I felt I'd something should be different in the design; she was always very gracious and very quick with changes and too with the fittings. I absolutely loved talking with her and she loves to laugh, which is great because as you know weddings can be a mix bag of stress with little sleep and in my case really tight time constraints. I was capable but too stressed out to sew my own gown and to fit it myself. In doing so much for the big day in such a short amount of time I had to decline myself. But Linda saved my bum, big time on this one and made it look so good!! She is fantastic and lots of fun. Oh, I also asked her to design and quickly built my bridesmaids skirts. And she did. She's making one for me, their gorgeous with a capitol G!!! I'm hiring Linda for many more upcoming projects and I look forward to it; can't wait!! So my wedding was really very beautiful. It was held at an old 1920's historical estate in Sherman Oaks, CA. It was a misty overcast day. I walked down the isle escorted by my dad led by an incredible bagpiper Max Gillespie. (I married a Scotsman so it was the right thing to do.) My dress was truly admired by the guests, woman and men alike. Most of the guest knew I loved vintage clothing and Europe. So they thought I must of found it in England, Ireland or France. I said no, I hadn't, but instead I was able to tell them the magical tale of designer Linda Duclos. :o) xx
Phenomenal Ariel costume. A+ work. Very good. Spot on. Best in the business.
Keyra was our costume designer on a super low budget but highly stylized indie horror film we shot in Detroit. She worked magic despite our ridiculously low budget constraints, and her costumes helped to create really memorable characters. I'd hire her again in a heartbeat. E. Bradley
My experience was great. She totally exceeded my expectations and provided me with a great costume. She is very easy to work with and communicated throughout the entire project which made it easy to track the progress. I will definitely use her again in the future.
Cia is a consummate professional and a talented seamstress. She offered many ideas for my designs and worked with me until we got them right. She's working on another one right now and I trust her implicitly. Plus, she's wonderful to work with!
I hired Cathi to make a jacket and 4 designer t-shirts for me. I feel bad calling them t-shirts because they really aren't. They're more like trendy hollywood sheik nightlife shirts that have short sleeves. Anyways she did an incredible job. Very detailed super creative and delivers beyond expectation.
We bought my daughter's bat mitzvah dress from Marine's Couture -- it was an elegant, sophisticated dress, yet it was also appropriate for a 13-year old. For the synagogue, Mara designed and created a little jacket to match which was absolutely perfect. Mara was also willing to work with us to make everything affordable, which was very much appreciated. And everything was ready on time! My daughter loved her dress and looked fabulous -- working with Mara was a delightful experience. I highly recommend her!
Your site,is very well put together.I'm a proud Mom. Love Ya
I've worked with Tati several times and let me say, she is absolutely wonderful both personally and professionally. She is an amazing designer and very creative. She has a wonderful collection of her own designs, but also she transforms vintage pieces into something one of a kind and absolutely stunning. She comes to styling with a lot of creativity and bright ideas. I highly recommend her!
Dorrie a true professional who knows her skill as a seamstress. She took time to assure the dress fit my body. She did not rush but took the time needed as seamstress working her art as a designer of fabrics. I will recommend hereading to many.
Clementina helped me design my perfect wedding dress and it came out better than I could have ever dreamed it to be. Dreams Bridal Shop truly holds up to their name because Clementina made my wedding gown a dream come true. Clementina is professional, caring, and VERY patient!!! I couldn't have asked for anyone better to design my gown. I truly felt like a queen.
Very professional and knowledgeable of what he does. Every question was answered with detail and confidence. From preproduction to the final outcome, we were very satisfied.
My design expertise covers more than one genre. I am a milliner and I offer hat making classes in the Los Angele area. I also have a unique line of apparel called SQUARE BIZ, featuring women's wear, handbags, and other accessories.
I have over 25 years of experience working as a designer in the Apparel industry in both clothing and accessorie's design (in NYC, Italy and now LA). I have an in-depth and excellent eye for detail, construction, fit and true value. Being a designer in the industry has its advantages. I naturally am always shopping the market and am hyper aware of what's out there. Often preferring undiscovered brands before huge new ones. My favorite compliment is when someone comments on what your wearing but can't figure out exactly where it is from or they have to look twice. A multi layered approach.
I am constantly pushing the boundaries on what I can design, so I do a lot of research; not just on fashion, but on nature, art, science, and everything that can inspire me. Teaching-wise, everyone has always told me that I'm really patient and understanding. I've learned very well how to explain things so that anyone at any level can learn.
