I go to Dan for mandolin lessons and always leave feeling musically satisfied. He is very encouraging but always has ways to improve my playing. He knows that playing music is all about creativity and having fun, and he conveys that in every lesson. One thing I particularly enjoy is that when I have a particular song memorized well enough, he will jump in and play along with me. This is great because one of the best ways to improve your playing is to listen to others who have mastered what you are playing. On several occasions (almost all of them really :P) I have listen to how Dan interprets a tune, and incorporate that into my playing. Dan is very pleasant to study with. He never scolds you for coming to lessons unprepared. He is flexible when his schedule can allow it. He does not set a timer and kick you out of his house when your hour is up, but starts to wrap up the lesson and makes sure you understand everything covered before setting you free to create on your own. Dan is one of my favorite teachers ever and I strongly recommend him to anyone looking to learn Mandolin, Guitar, Bass, Banjo, or even math or science!

Dan is an incredibly gifted musician. He is adept at multiple instruments with a solid understanding of music theory. Dan's passion for music is infectious and I would highly recommend him for music lessons.

FAQs

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Reviewing or really getting in all your basics can incredibly speed your progress in being able to play well and enjoy it. I try to get my students playing what they enjoy as soon as possible, while improving their skills as we go.
