Griffith is such a fun teacher. He adapts to your needs and abilities without ever making you feel inadequate or stupid. With my infinitesimal music knowledge, Griffith sprinkles in music lessons between vocal warm ups. It's interesting to learn and see videos of how the voice works and how the body helps you sing rather than just going from warm up to song week after week. Thank you Griffith for such a fabulously fun way to learn and become more comfortable with my voice!

I requested singing lessons and received 6 quotes rangers big from $36/hr to $100/hr. I eliminated 3 of them just based on the message they wrote to me and their reviews or lack there of. My passion is indie rock and Jan does not fit the profile of a rocker and she was vocally trained as an opera singer. However, her reviews were positive, she was priced in the middle, her message to me was pertinent and once I called and spoke to her I was sold. I didn't bother contacting the other two quotes I was interested in. Needless to say, my hunch was right and I had my first lesson last week. It went incredibly well. She amazed me. I am a song writer wanting to improve my vocals so I can work indecent from hiring a singer. I showed he some of my recorded originals and within seconds she knew what I had to improve to make my voice fit the song better. We changed the key a whole step, she had me pronounce some of the words differently and she gave input in to what could improve for the song instrumentally. She started showing me current artists and what I could take from their particular songs to inspire some rhythmic changes. she had suggestions on where to go and present my music to sale for commercial/tv/advertising. She had big picture advice on where to focus my energies. I couldn't believe what we packed in to a one hour rehearsal. She sat at her piano and taught me vocal exercises and explained to me how I could improve on them with what I call tricks to break certain bad habits I have formed. I can't wait to see her next week. She can totally rock!!!

My experience has been very good.. At first I came in just wanting to sing songs but after taking a few weeks of lessons I have learnt so much more than I was expecting and really learned how to use my voice in the correct way!

I've had four lessons so far with Steve, and I am so pleased with how it is going! Steve is very skilled, patient, kind, punctual and professional. He responds to all my questions, and is very encouraging. He comes to my office in Pasadena to give me my lesson. I find that the biggest challenge in learning something new, is keeping my own internal critic under control as I struggle with note reading, and learn how to play the guitar. The fact that Steve is so patient and never critical helps to offset my internal critic. I have felt self doubting in the first two lessons, but by lesson 3, I am confident that if I keep practicing and working with Steve, eventually I will get it. Steve also shared info re his Taylor Mini guitar which is much smaller than the typical guitar, easier for me to play because the frets are smaller for smaller hands. I just bought my own Taylor Mini, a beautiful instrument which also inspires me to keep at it! Steve is also introducing some popular songs starting in lesson 3, which also makes it more enjoyable. This is one of the best decisions I have made for myself, and I am very happy that I was lucky to find Steve. He's great!

I have had three lessons with Rickie so far and she has completely changed the way I approach singing. She breaks down the fundamentals and gives you a solid foundation on which you can continuously expand. She is incredibly encouraging and is amazing to work with. I have found my vocal coach. :)

Great instructor. He is very patient and has a very understandable way of explaining things. He did often forget to follow-through with sending things (music, lesson sheets) or bringing them to the next lesson. If it wasn't for that minor issue, he would definitely get 5 stars!

We decided to chose Brian for my teenage daughter's beginning guitar lessons due to his willingness to teach her the type of songs that she wanted. Right away he connected with her and her music. He taught her the theory behind playing guitar as well as teaching her the tricks and skills of how to play the guitar. His practices were enjoyable and not just rote. She learned very quickly and therefore stayed excited about learning. Brian was always very complementary and encouraging. Brian also helped us buy useful equipment like a tuner, etc. She always felt safe and comfortable. We would highly recommend Brian as a guitar teacher.

Very to the point and knowledgeable about the instrument. He obviously has studied the guitar for a long time and knowing that makes the lessons comfortable and effective.

Michael, from my first lesson was so attentive to what I wanted to learn. Kind of in passing, I told him that I loved to sing but was afraid to so he really coaxed me to sing along to all the guitar songs I was learning (I really do not think that any other guitar teacher would have bothered...like "not my job". But, not Michael, he took that on as his job because he recognized that it was important to me). Likewise, when I would show an interest in a particular type of music (i.e. I like acoustic and more mellow, verging on country even), he found songs like that for me and he taught me my songs I had picked even though I doubt that they would have been his picks. In summary, he wanted me to relate to and enjoy the music; the lessons are all about what I want to get out of them...with professional guidance along the way as well. The other thing I want to definitely mention is that, Michael is top-knotch, professional and KNOWS music. He encouraged me to not only learn songs to play but to understand the theory of the music in those songs. I feel very proficient in music theory after taking classes with Michael. I not only play the stuff but I "get it." I understand the technical theory involved. I really think that this is something not every guitar teacher brings to the table or encourages. Many just do not know it! With Michael, we can move from guitar to piano so that he can illustrate something about chords in a key or the difference between major, minor, dominant and diminished chords. Bottom line, I have fun during my lesson but I learn so much more than memorizing chord shapes on the guitar. And, when I play and sing a song...well, it really feels great! Honestly, he is the BEST! He just cares so much about you learning all you can regarding music and he knows how to teach it so that you get to understand what can at first seem so unfamiliar. Michael has the holistic approach. He makes music familiar, logical, relatable and, most of all, Enjoyable. As his student, thumbs-up!

Howard Richman is not a piano teacher...he is a LIFE CHANGER. I went to him to learn piano...but realized that the lessons I learned studying piano with the MASTER were not merely lessons in music....but lessons that helped me see outside the paradigm in all areas of my life. Often, as adults, we "come back" to our music...to study what we have been "wanting to get back to" for years. I learned that this is often a time of great change and evolution for us personally. Howard, being so intuitive, knows how to tune in to each individual's needs.... and empower them to EMPOWER themselves. He is a BRILLIANT pianist, composer and master teacher. I've watched him perform miracles with young children who struggled with other teachers who simply wanted to teach "by the book." Howard is always able to find your inner talent and abilities, possibly that are even unknown to you...and he can creatively, intuitively and intelligently create a course of action that will leave you amazed! That's why you are reading SO many wonderful comments here about him. If you are lucky enough to get to study with Howard, it will change your life!...and btw, I can now play a mean Beethoven's "Moonlight Sonata"....Thank you for everything you taught me Howard Richman! Our 2 children have been taking piano lessons with Dory for more than a year and it has been an outstanding experience since then. Dory is not only a music teacher (not only for piano btw), he is a musician and a composer. My children have made incredible progresses in piano but they've also learnt to love music, understood the principles of styles, composition, orchestra etc... Dory customizes the approach for each child, always making sure his students progress at their pace and continue enjoying what they do. The studio is very peaceful, well decorated and inspiring. Even for me it's a peaceful and very pleasant moment when I stay there for an hour.

I am an adult student that has been learning the piano from Susan for about 4 months now, and I am enjoying every lesson thoroughly. Susan is an extremely patient teacher with great experience. I had about 2-3 years experience with western classical music on the piano before beginning my lessons with her, but still had difficulty in sight reading. Susan immediately identified my problem and suggested a method to correct it, and it is working extremely well! She also is very methodical in teaching and this helps tackle difficult pieces with utmost ease. I love the fact that she is very flexible, and gives importance to mastering a piece more than anything else. Loving every bit of my lessons with her!

Suzan Horrocks is a delight. I’ve been her student for more than 20 years. Before I started I was concerned that as an adult student with a very busy schedule I would be hassled for not always practicing as much as I should. I needn’t have worried. Ms. Horrocks is a very effective teacher with the patience of a saint who adapts for each student. She identifies your struggles quickly and communicates clearly the best method to help overcome them. I can’t praise Suzan highly enough. Besides being an accomplished pianist herself, she loves teaching and her enthusiasm is contagious.

My son Prahalad had taken piano lessons with Cesar Canocelis before we moved to Northern California. Prahalad started out as a complete beginner and within a year, he was playing some beautiful pieces. Cesar is engaging, energetic and very good with kids. He has a good sense for what each child will enjoy and how each child learns. Prahalad always looked forward to his lessons and stayed interested in piano throughout. Cesar focussed on technique, skill and theory while cultivating a genuine love for the instrument in the child. Prahalad still loves to play the piano, thanks to Cesar and the wonderful foundation he gave him!
