Introduction: Hi, my name is Dave Cipriani. I have come to firmly believe that music is, or can be MEDICINE to heal our soul/mind/body. It is the way to release our pain - and our joy! - and to access deeper parts of ourselves that we may not be able to, or feel comfortable with, accessing in our everyday life. It is a way for us to connect with our hearts - and with other people’s hearts, to find solace, to find comfort, and to find our joy that we may be forgetting to connect with. It is a way to find wholeness and acceptance for our entire experience — good, bad & ugly, and I believe it can be a great force for change and good in the world. As I have progressed as a musician and a teacher, I have really loved watching my students connect with parts of themselves they had moved away from. It is truly beautiful! Now as for what I teach from a "technical" point of view, because I love the diversity of what I can teach, and I want you to know about it: I teach beginner to advanced (pro level) guitar, ukulele, beginner to intermediate piano, bass and vocals. For guitar, I can teach you how to read music, improvise in ANY style, strum chords, play beautiful classical guitar pieces, even write songs, compositions and lyrics. I work with Piano & voice students as beginners to intermediate, as help with songwriting, learning popular songs, etc. I’ve worked with students from 6 to 75, all levels, including students that are recording albums themselves. I have helped people find their creative spark to write instrumental pieces or songs (even a 9 year old!), to get past performance anxiety, or even to learn how to just sing in tune and find their voice. I teach most styles, including a few you probably haven’t heard of: jazz, rock, folk, classical, blues, African, Celtic/Irish, Balkan (Eastern European), and North Indian Classical. (If there is something you are interested in that’s not on the list, let me know, I can probably help!) I will work with you (or your child) to find a balance between fundamentals of good technical development and working on music that really will inspire you to practice. I often use concepts from Indian music in particular to teach melodic and rhythmic ideas that I think they have worked out the best - I always teach Indian rhythm if you want to learn to play Funk for example! I also teach Indian slide guitar (Mohan Vina), Indian music for western instruments, and basic Indian (raga) vocals. My basic rate is $80 per hour, $60 for 45 minutes and $40 for 30 minutes, but I also offer packages of 6 or more to reduce the rate, as well as I offer a sliding scale to those who are serious about lessons but can’t afford the full rate. I can do gift certificates if you are interested in buying for someone else. For the last year, i have done bi-annual Online Recitals, which will continue as I have students in several states and Brazil. For Payment, I accept Venmo, PayPal, Zelle, Cash and Check.

Dave has been instrumental in identifying problems that hindered my playing technique and confidence. From day one, he was able to help me improve my sense of rhythm and immediately offered advice on improving the subtleties of playing like hammer ons and pull offs. Dave's unique background also enables him to offer guidance that just isn't possible with other teachers who only focus on one specific genre; this also means that, as a student, I have the opportunity to expand my horizons which js a crucial aspect of developing one's musicality. With this in mind, I'm looking forward to having more lessons with him in the future.

Dave is a very genuine and quality teacher. He’s down to earth and has ability to adapt to many genres from what I’ve seen. He knows the guitar well and provided answers to most of my music theory questions. I look forward to working with him more!

I am so happy with Dave, he made a good match with my son, he's on time, prepared and my son enjoy his lessons. I'm impressed because I hear my son playing the guitar and he asks me for my favorite song and I believed he's going to play it very soon.

I really enjoyed working with Dave on my guitar journey. He has such a wide range of knowledge that whatever my needs were on a particular week or month, he was able to come up with a great song or lick for me to learn. He really helped me better understand the instrument and take my playing to the next level as I was feeling stuck in my progress prior to working together. I would highly recommend him as a teacher regardless of whatever level you are.
