Introduction: Ryan Roberts, Lead Artist and Founder of Phoenix FX, began his career as a working makeup artist in 2006. Originally from Greenville, South Carolina, Ryan brings a southern twist to the West Coast with his values, work ethic and creative beauty ideas. He offers high quality makeup application and custom makeup design for all occasions and major events. Additionally, he offers services in basic hair styling, wardrobe styling, and on set creative direction.
As a versatile artist, Ryan applies his experience in a multitude of aesthetics on projects and on set. His training background includes self-directed studies and forays into fashion, editorial, film/tv, theatre, special FX, runway, bridal, and basic beauty applications. In addition to his freelance projects, he has also worked as a Regional Artist for DuWop Cosmetics, the Lead Artist for Vacation Portraits, and as a freelance artist for Makeup Art Cosmetics (MAC).
In 2012, Ryan moved to Los Angeles, California to fully pursue his career as a makeup artist in the film and television industry. In April he began an apprenticeship under Special FX Legend Vincent Guastini (Last of the Mohicans, Dogma) as well as an internship with the Hair and Makeup Artist Network. His most recent projects include a T-Mobile Endorsement Commercial starring Stephen Lunsford (Teen Wolf), and a feature film starring Barry Bostwick (The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Spin City).
