Introduction: I have tutored for over 18 years and have designed individualized lessons and portfolios for my students. I engage my students with hands on learning activities. I specialize in early reading and math skills and engage the child through games and real life applications. I offer online tutoring for all ages and am on Zoom doing reading, math activities and games. Making learning still engaging and fun. I also work with children with learning disabilities such as Autism and ADD. I offer Mindfulness activities , brain breaks and yoga programs to help with focus, attention and test taking skills. I enjoy teaching children and seeing the light come on when they understand something new. I love creating individualized lesson plans and engaging the child through games and yoga to learn.

Melissa played a key role in helping my 9yo 3rd grader to actually learn! She turned the arduous task of homework into an activity that builds my daughter’s confidence. My daughter sees her own progress, celebrates her wins, and is showing great signs of self-motivation. She is enjoying learning again. I would recommend Melissa without hesitation.

Ms. Melissa has been tutoring my 5 yo for 6 months and we will be continuing for quite some time! She is engaging and always comes prepared to ensure my daughter is progressing. Ms Melissa is familiar with kinder school curriculum, which helps my daughter get familiarized in advance while giving her an extra boost of confidence at school. Melissa has been GREAT! She has been tutoring our 1st grader (first in person and now through Zoom during COVID) and she has been fantastic. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I charge $50 for PreK-5th grade and $55 for Middle school. For children with special needs my prices range from $55- 70/hr. I offer discounts on prepaid monthly payments from 10 -15%.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I will talk to the customer about their needs and goals for their child. I will also assess each student in their area of need. In addition, I have both the parent and child talk or write about what they believe their strengths are and what hey need help in. I also ask questions to let me know what the child's interests are so I can use this subject area in my teaching. For example a child loves sports or dinosaurs, I will try to find reading material in this area or create math games/problems using this subject.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have tutored for over 18 years and currently work in a teaching job at an elementary school. I have my BA from Long Beach state in Education and earned my teaching credential. I continue my education by taking classes and participating in hands on trainings.
