Introduction: Hi, this is Helen Fangming Shepherd:) I'm a piano instructor located in the Bay Area. I started my piano studies at 4 years old. With 23 years of piano playing experience, I received my B.S. and M.A. degree from Ohio State University in 2017. I started tutoring piano in the year 2011. With 8 years of teaching experience I have developed effective and fun ways of teaching and learning the piano. If you want to pass your piano exams (e.g. ABRSM GRADE 1-8) or interested in piano competitions, I'm here to help! If you want to learn a specific music piece (e.g. contemporary piece such as River flows in you from Yiruma; movie soundtracks such as City of Stars from LaLa Land; or you prefer classical piece such as Beethoven Fur Elise), I can make learning progress easier for you! I also teach music theory and provide ear training for my students. I moved from Columbus, Ohio to Tracy 6 months ago due to my husband's job promotion. I'm currently teaching piano at a music studio in Dublin CA. Besides teaching at school I can also travel to student’s Homes. I had good time with Helen. She is a great teacher. I liked that she can personalize some of the master pieces and make them easier for me to learn. She is always on time too.

Ms. Helen is a great and experienced piano teacher, She works very well with my 6 years old daughter. She is always patient and encouraging with the students. my daughter loves her! I’m glad I have such a wonderful teacher to teach my daughter. Looking forward to the next time! Highly recommend!

My kids have been studying piano with Ms. Helen for about 2 months. My kids likes her and i think she is very patient and talented. I'm glad that she is willing to give lessons at our home haha that makes my life so much easier. I recommend this teacher.

We have had 3 lessons with Helen by now. My two girls 11 and 6 (who are at different levels of learning) love her, really enjoy and look forward to their lessons with her. She is very sweet, approachable, calm and very professional in her teaching. Her prices are reasonable too. She is also a amazing pianist. We are so happy we found her.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Every student is different. - For beginners, kids from 5-10 year old, I recommend Faber Piano Adventures textbook level 1-6. -Why Use Piano Adventures?
