FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My going rate is $75 per hour. However, I discount to $50 per hour for full day (10-hour sessions). If you want me to record drum or percussion tracks for your song, I charge by the hour for that as well. I can also be flexible for certain projects that won't be so time consuming (ie: voice-over or tracking vocals to pre-recorded or programmed tracks depending on how many of hours of work need to be done).
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I always ask for reference tracks from the customer to give me an idea of how they are imagining the production for their songs. This always gives me an idea for microphone choice and placement, tone, compression, EQ, reverb, delay, etc. for each instrument as well as panning preferences.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I interned at a recording studio in high school with an old-school, analog Harrison mixing console where everything was tracked to tape. I fell in love and could spend hours on end in the mixing booth panning, compressing, EQing and experimenting with each track. I also was involved in LMU's recording arts program back in 2007/2008. After spending years working as a session and live musician, I needed my own recording space to track drum and percussion tracks at the very least. My most important training has been in the field. I've had my own recording studio since 2016, where I have recorded, mixed and mastered my songwriting project, Dark Moon Tragedy's debut LP, "Discomposure" (available on Bandcamp, Spotify, Youtube); my former band, Sawtelle's debut and only full length album, "The Perfect Search" (available on bandcamp); several clients including Sam Spector's debut LP, "Inky Fingers, Swollen Hearts" (available on Spotify and Youtube); an upcoming release from a band called Detective Fiction; as well as drum and percussion tracks for many projects including Brandon Paul, Boomstick, Sam Spector and multiple upcoming releases from Chuck Chilla, Shadow Logic, etc. I have also shot promo videos and mixed the audio for several clients such as Joe Matthews and Patrick Chavez.
