I've been taking lessons from Matthew for about a year now. The amount I have progressed is crazy. Last year I was playing 4/4 beats along to weezer and now I can play Tom Sawyer from start to finish. What's really cool about Matthew is that he concentrates on technique rather than fancy fills, although he is capable of teaching both. The technique is what's ultimately going to get me work in the long run though. He is constantly improving himself as well as teaching me things he learns along the way. Very easy to work with and easily the most hilarious person I know. If you're looking for drum lessons, look no further. He's not cheap but has worked with me on his hourly rate. Remember, you get what you pay for.
Henry Newmark is an INCREDIBLE drum set teacher and mentor. Henry attended the Berklee School of Music, Henry's approach is precise and professional. Henry is the REAL deal and his instruction is phenomenal. You or your child will absolutely be learning proper technique as well as music theory. Henry is a perfectionist in the best way possible. My son took lessons once or twice a week with Henry for 5 years straight. Not only did my son look forward to his lessons every week, but he went from being a beginning student to now being a freshman percussion major at the Interlochen Arts Academy in Michigan. Henry taught my son drum set, orchestral and snare drumming, and jazz drum set. There is NO WAY my son would be where he is today without Henry. Henry is also very kind and has a great sense of humor. There is no better drum teacher then Henry Newmark. If you want to learn how to play the drums, he is your guy without a doubt.
Michael has a very straight forward approach to teaching. Whether it was answering a technique question or developing new ways to manuever around the set, each lesson consisted of my thoroughly learning new information in a practical and very efficient manner. Being a percussionist myself, we naturally have good rapport with the language we communicate with. Michael's way of personal interaction alongside his instrument is certainly one of the best forays into any practice and study of music, for those just starting or already proficient.
If you're searching for a drum instructor, go no further and call Tony. He teaches based on each individual's personal goals and ability and is extremely knowledgeable about different types of music - I'm enjoying every minute of each lesson. He's also a great guy - relaxed, fun & affordable! You rock, Tony - thanks!!!
I have been taking lessons from Austin for a year now and I am more than pleased with the results. Austin has a well rounded understanding of the drums and is well versed in many different styles. Austin has given me the practices I need to take my drumming to the next level. I have seen a great improvement in my abilities in just one year of lessons. But more importantly Austin's main point is to make drumming fun and he definitely does that. I plan on taking lessons from Austin for a long time.
My son Prahalad had taken piano lessons with Cesar Canocelis before we moved to Northern California. Prahalad started out as a complete beginner and within a year, he was playing some beautiful pieces. Cesar is engaging, energetic and very good with kids. He has a good sense for what each child will enjoy and how each child learns. Prahalad always looked forward to his lessons and stayed interested in piano throughout. Cesar focussed on technique, skill and theory while cultivating a genuine love for the instrument in the child. Prahalad still loves to play the piano, thanks to Cesar and the wonderful foundation he gave him!
I took drum lessons for quite some time and was absolutely amazed at how well david teaches. I was able to acquire many unique drum skills that David taught me. Definitely recommend him!!! 10/10!!!
Perfect drum teacher ever! Very skillful and patient. I have zero learning of drum before but I think I'm making big improvement right now after taking Colin's class :)
My son began taking drum lessons with Lindsay via skype at 6 years old. He will be 9 next month and is still loving his drum lessons. He has learned so much in such a short period of time. Not only is Lindsay clearly a skilled drummer but is also an apt teacher. She is patient while pushing my son to improve his skills. I know from personal experience that learning an instrument can be frustrating to the point that the student will want to give up. This is especially true for a kid. Lindsay understands this and has the ability to balance progress with patience. I highly recommend Lindsay as a drum teacher!
Coach Jake is a wonderful, creative teacher who has as much fun learning as his students do. My daughter has been taking drum lessons with him for two years and loves it. She says he's silly and playful and makes learning drums so much fun. While she's having fun, she's also learning technique, rhythm and how to read music. I absolutely recommend Coach Jake if you're looking to learn to play drums. Having a blast as you do is a great bonus too in my book!
I was very fortunate to find Ryan as a drum teacher. He is a talented and skilled drummer, with the ability to teach in a fun and encouraging environment. I didn't have any experience when I began lessons with Ryan, and after the first lesson, he gave me confidence and enthusiasm, which allowed me to grasp the concepts he presented fairly quickly. He also takes the time to email me a review of each lesson with a video of what we practiced that day. He is thorough and patient, as well as a very kind and caring person. I also look forward to my daughter starting drum lessons with him soon! I admire Ryan's dedication to his students, and I would high recommend him to anyone wanting to pursue the drums! A class act :)
Every Friday I'm at GoDpsMusic for my drum lesson. Definitely my favorite day of the week! The atmosphere is excellent! The acoustic and electronic drum kits in the lesson studios are the best. If you want to schedule a lesson or purchase equipment, I strongly recommend GoDpsMusic. Kevin, Brendan, Bryan, Steve and Robbie are the "go-to" guys at GoDpsMusic.
Steve Vai, a Billy Idol drummer, is giving drum lessons in the greater Los Angeles area. I have a studio in North Hollywood and can also travel. I have many years of being a touring working drummer. I have developed an emphasis on what is important to be able to make it in the music business.
I teach drum and percussion lessons in West Los Angeles. I have over a decade of teaching experience and have played in everything, from rock bands to the Los Angeles Philharmonic. I am currently pursuing a doctorate in percussion performance and would love to share my education with others.
I have real experience as a paid professional musician and teacher as well as a degree in music and years of private lessons. Besides my ability to play any style of music proficiently I also know how to play jazz and classical music which are much less commonly known these days.
Learn to play drums like a rock star. I'm a Musicians Institute graduate and can help you take your drumming to the next level. I offer tons of curriculum and lots of fun.
Living in Beverly Hills, I am looking to teach all ages. I am free on weekends from morning till late. I specialize in jazz and funk.
My teaching career began in high school when I would teach other high school and middle school students drum lessons. Upon graduating, I continued my music studies at two different institutions. I have a B.A. in jazz studies from Florida State University and an M.F.A. in jazz studies from the California Institute of the Arts. Total, I have over seven years of experience as a private instructor. I am able to teach drum set, classical and rudimental snare drum and Latin percussion lessons. I have had experience in teaching students with ages ranging from 5-56. In addition to teaching percussion, I can teach music theory, jazz keyboard theory, composition and beginning piano and guitar students. Some of my former students have gone on to study music performance at colleges, such as Florida State University, The University of Miami, Louisiana State University and The University of Alabama.
Drum lessons for all ages and levels. Beginners: I will teach you the fundamentals of drumming and all the necessary rudiments and exercises needed to build a strong musical foundation on the drum set. Intermediate to advanced students: I will teach you new styles, drum fills and overall philosophy of music and drumming. I work well with children and people of all ages. I will patiently guide you in the right direction for musical satisfaction.
I can teach rock and roll drumming beginner through intermediate levels. I can teach on my set at home, or I can travel within the Santa Barbara area for lessons. Maximum distance will vary as travel arrangements dictate. I have worked with students at SBCC since 2009 helping walk them through the enrollment processs so patience is a strong suite of mine. I am also an experienced nanny (or manny to those who find it funny), so all age ranges work well for me. But most importantly, I can drum! I still have a lot of work to do on my own skills, so beginners would be best for me,
