Jared responded quickly to my inquiry with a firm quote and showed up the next day to do the project. I wanted a mini bar turned into a kitchenette. He and two guys installed a wall mounted microwave, a cabinet above it, an electric cooktop, a larger sink, and a garbage disposal. They had to cut into Cesarstone for the sink and cooktop, which made me very nervous. They even added more backsplash where it was missing once the old cabinet was removed and added touch-up paint to finish the job. They did everything in one day and left the space cleaner than when they arrived. Very pleased.

My experience with Fredy and his painters was great. Fredy is incredibly professional and responsible. He was available and responsive via text to confirm the work and communicate leading up to and during the work being done. He gave me the best quote for the work, and the job was completed on time. I was clear that I didn't need the walls repaired to perfection or sanded, etc. So the quality of the job reflects that - some spots were certainly repaired, and those were done well. There is one section of one of the rooms that doesn't look like it got a second coat of paint. There was also a small change based on a miscommunication -I needed 4 metal plates (about 8" by 3 feet long each) that were mounted to the wall also painted over. Initially, they were taped and not painted, so the guys had to rush in the last 3 hours or so to get them done and, understandably, the end product looks a bit sloppy. Fredy also helped me with a small spot on the front of the building that was marked with graffiti, which wasn't included in the original job. He went out of his way to match the paint himself and paint over the spot, and I appreciate so much the "above and beyond" effort. However, the color didn't end up matching so the front of our building is now 2-tone : / I was unable to be around during much of the work, so I basically just trusted the process and walked away. The guys were super trustworthy too, which is so important to me. With regards to the quality of the work, I am about 90% satisfied and would use them again for sure. I would just be more present next time to help sort out and manage the small things as they come up. Thank you Fredy!

We hired Excel Construction to do a complete kitchen remodeling and enlarge the existing space by expanding the walls several feet to the patio area. The new kitchen included the installation of the upper and lower cabinets, new paint, new backsplash, marble counter top, LED lighting and new dishwasher, stove and range. Eyal, the project manager and Revital (the lady that we worked with in regards to all the documents, payments and permits) from the office who did an outstanding job helping us. During the work, we clearly noticed that they were always made sure that the costs will remain the same and won’t pass the budget that was set at first and they made sure the job was done accurately. All the sub-contractors that they employed for our house (carpenters, electricians, painters etc.) were outstanding, qualified and experienced. We were very fascinated that our project Eyal was able to complete the entire kitchen few days earlier than he promised us. We were always given a personal attention by Eyal, who was very good in communication and organized and by Revital. The new kitchen looks perfect and very useful and we strongly recommend them and we will hire them again for any remodeling project we may have.

Joe is an excellent professional and does awesome work! First, we needed a door framed and installed at the end of a hallway. Joe did an amazing job framing, drywall, door installation, paint and even moved a light switch for us. It looks great and we couldn't be happier! He was also great to install some blinds and curtain rods for us. We were so impressed with Joe's work & efficiency that we hired him again to do some exterior painting for us and to no surprise he did an incredible job with that also! Not only is Joe an A-1 professional that delivers quality work, he is also a very friendly and respectful person! We are so happy that we found Joe and will continue to hire him for future projects!

Geoff Davis is truly a godsend! I was searching for a handyman to help with repairs around my mother's home. . Other handyman services were truly price gouging her. In the past, we had horrible experiences with handymen doing terrible work costing us more to repair what they "fixed". We found Geoff Davis while searching for someone to repair my mother's patio cover which was damaged by the wind. Geoff was able to come up with a beautiful and creative way to repair the patio cover that was also affordable. After the repair of the patio cover, we had him paint her home, repair the rain gutters, repair the stucco walls and wrought iron fence, fix the shed door then he came to our place to repair the ceiling after a pipe leaked and replaced our hot water heater! His work is brilliant. He takes great pride in doing a job well done and treats you as if you were his family! With decades of experience as a private contractor, i truly believe there isn't anything he can't do! He is truly an answer to my prayers as knowing he is there to help my mother and to help us gives me huge peace of mind!

I am extremely pleased with BC&D's services! I hired Armand to refinish 100 years old hardwood floor and paint every wall and ceeling in my home. He is a true professional and did an amazing job with both the paint and the floors. He went above and beyond with professionalism and a smile. He completed the job in time (which is extremely rare for contractors and most vendors I've dealt with)! And offered the most competitive rate. I highly recommend him and his work.

I was looking for a long time for the right contractor to remodel my mother’s home, after meeting with 5 contractors, I decided to go with Smart Construction Consultants. Ron helped me with budgeting and were able to come with great ideas that actually save on the overall cost. The work included update all the house lighting, rewire and new 200 Amp main electrical panel with complete interior painting of the home. The guys were very respectful to my Mom and her home, they always came on time and even finished the project a week earlier than expected without compromising the quality of the work! I highly recommend working with the great team of Smart Construction Consultants

Excellent job & overall experience! I had to get rid of a wall panel in a new home that was an eyesore and Jerry Gail put in the lowest bid to paint it. She also had the most personable, o-nonsense approach. She answered messages promptly and her follow-through was impeccable. The wall in question was highly textured but she was able to assess on the spot how best to tackle it, with great care and consideration. She even used a spare can of her own paint when my own ran short for the second coat! I'd highly recommend Jerry Gail for any painting job, no matter the size or level of difficulty.

Thank you CertaPro for a great paint job! My house looks great, and I appreciate your suggestion for an accent wall - it really adds a nice touch to the living room. Our exterior needs paint as well, so we will be calling you again soon. Thanks again!

I reached out because I needed some painting done in 2 bedrooms and some plumbing in my bathroom. The same day they responded to me and gave me a quote. I found the value to be very fair for the amount of work I needed to be done. George was also very helpful and explained everything that was going on with my plumbing. We needed to change the sink and some pipes and I’m very happy with the job. I’ll definitely work with George again.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to paint the interior of a house?

Interior house painting costs are calculated on a few key factors. Nationally, interior house painting projects range from $200 to $2,500. The wide price range indicates how much square footage, paint selection and labor can affect cost. One pro uses a laser to measure each room, subtracting the size of the doors and windows, and then bases the quote on the square footage of the actual surfaces to be painted. Painters may provide you with savings if you opt to paint your entire home rather than just having one room or an accent wall painted. For example, the average house painting cost for an 8x12 room with 8-foot ceilings is roughly $200, when contractor-grade paint is used. Painting ceilings, baseboards and frames can also affect cost. Pros may charge per linear foot to smooth and paint baseboards. In one area pros might charge 50 cents per linear foot to paint baseboards, while pros in another part of the country could charge $1.50 per linear foot for the same task. Painters may charge flat rates for painting door and window frames, with one charging $20-$25 and another $60 per door. Geography and regional costs to do business play a major role in the cost of interior painting. The same painter in a rural region has less to pay in taxes, transportation, insurance and overhead than they would in a major city like New York.

How much does a painter charge per room?

The cost to paint a room will vary based on the size of the room, the type of paint you select, any ceiling or trim work needed, and any repairs needed. If no repairs or other additional work is needed, painting a room with contractor-grade paint could range from $1 to $2 per square foot, including materials. Selecting a luxury paint (some cost more than $100 per gallon) will certainly increase your house painting costs. Here are some additional examples of average house painting costs, per room:

  • 12x12 room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 12x12 room with an 8-foot ceiling: about $100
  • 14x16 master bedroom with a 9-foot ceiling: about $150
  • 14x16 master bedroom with an 8-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 16x16 living room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $175
  • 16x16 living room with a 20-foot ceiling: starting at $225

How much do painters cost?

The national average cost for an interior painter ranges between $450 and $900. Interior painters can tackle everything from complete color makeovers in each of your rooms to touching up an accent wall to painting pieces of furniture. The square footage and complexity of the project, along with the materials needed, are the main factors that will affect cost. Other factors include whether you supply the paint yourself or want the painter to do so, whether you move the furniture and do the prep work or ask them to do it, and whether any repair work is needed on the walls. Painting the ceiling and the trim will also have an effect on cost. The type of paint you choose can also raise or lower your house painting cost. A gallon of paint may range from $20 to over $100, depending on quality and brand. Ask your painter if they charge per hour or per square foot, and how much you can save by doing prep work (moving furniture, etc.) yourself.
