He completed his B.A. at Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas in 1991, and he received his law degree fromU.C Berkeley School of Law (Boalt Hall) in 1994. In 2007, he graduated from Harvard Divinity School after conducting his Master's research on the role of religion in major United States Supreme Court decisions since 1950 and the religious bases of United States bankruptcy law.
