Jonathan was great from the beginning! We spoke over the phone and I was very confident that he knew what he was doing. When we met, he walked me through the set-up process and got us going on QuickBooks Online. He also has a set-up that gives him a discount on the service, which he passed on to us (saved us $20 a month). Once he got us set-up, Jonathan showed us how to use the system. We also received a report once he updated the year into the system and walked us through it in lamen's terms. We also have him running our payroll. Jonathan also gave us some good business ideas that we put into play that have made things move a lot faster. I definitely recommend Jonathan and D&Y Accounting!

I and some of my friends founded a company 30 years ago and ultimately it was purchased by a large public company. After they were operating it for a while they realized that they needed some help so they asked one of the early employees if he wanted to purchase it back from them. He asked me for my advice and I said, You should call Bill Clark. He did and while Bill is not one for meetings and lunches, etc. he helped him reorganize his entire 300 employee company that was not functioning profitably. Now here is the interesting part. He never personally met the CEO face to face for the first six months this was all going on. Bill lived 20 minutes from the company however he preferred to spend his time focused on solving the issues vs having meetings at which not a lot gets accomplished. One day the CEO asked him, how far do you live from our offices? and Bill responded, About 20 minutes. The CEO said Why have we never met and Bill responded, The point was to restructure your company and make it more profitable not have lunch. Needless to say a week later they met halfway between and had a nice lunch and are still friends 15 years later. After the reorganization was complete Bill said to him You need to decide if you want to build a specific expertise you are lacking in your company or if you want to purchase a company with that expertise. The CEO responded that he would prefer to buy it and do it as soon as possible. So Bill went to work and sorted through 3,000 possible acquisitions, narrowed it down to 10 and discussed the top 10 with the CEO. They agreed on the three they would enter negotiations with and Bill was able to negotiate the acquisition of a company for the CEO for more than a million less than the CEO thought possible. One interesting point is that Bill never met one person out of all the companies he negotiated with, including the one the CEO purchased. On the day of the signing of the papers Bill came to the offices to meet the principals of the company in person. That was the first and only time they met. The acquisition turned out to be very successful for both parties. As you can see Bill is not one to waste his time or the time of others. He loves to make people money because that means when they pay him his extraordinarily large fees they are happy because, in reality, they are paying him from money he made for them that they would not have had were it not for Bills efforts. When my new business was just one location he helped me in so many ways there is not enough room to describe everything but here are some examples. When I needed a new manager he took an approach I thought was insane to use for finding the right person. The help wanted ad he placed cost less than $200 and the process an applicant had to follow was unique to say the least. However he convinced me that it had worked for him and his clients for many years. He got more responses than all of my ads in the prior five years. In the end we selected the person. That person has not only been an outstanding employee she is still with me after 17 years and now runs my entire company. I was sure his approach was not going to work but I was dead wrong. There is no price I could have paid him that would equal the accomplishments this person has achieved over the last 17 years. When I started to expand he was instrumental in saving in property expenses with a unique form of negotiating. Again I thought his approach was unusual but went along with it. He was right again and saved me over $700,000. One night in the middle of a blizzard he got up at midnight and wrote a complete press release that was distributed to all the media in the region offering a special online offer so they could purchase their Christmas presents without having to go out in the terrible blizzard. When everyone read this in the morning our business tripled and many of those customers are still customers 10 years later. I often email Bill to get his thoughts on what I am about to do and he always responds within hours and his advice is always right on point. It does not matter that he lives 3,000 miles away, its as if hes right down the hall from my office. The subject does not matter either as he quickly gets it regardless of which aspect of the business Im concerned about. What impresses me with Bill is that he always makes himself available regardless of time of day or day of the week weekends included. His help has been priceless in many ways. For example, while I have an accountant and a bookkeeper Bill created a dashboard for me so I could, at a glance, see how we were doing every day in every aspect of our business with easy to read charts and graphs that updated daily. I could have never created this complex spreadsheet but the ability to see trends daily, monthly and year over year was and is, well priceless. In particular, its given me the opportunity to make changes quickly if something is out of line and allows me to grow the business more profitably. I can go on and on with many more stories over the last 17 years but, in a nutshell, Bill is a genius at growing business sales, keeping the employees happy, productive and loyal and maximizing the bottom line profits whether we are in a recession or when times are good. Ive referred many friends and business associates to Bill over the years and the responses are always the same when they let me know how it went with him. They usually say something like this Bill gave me ideas that I never would have thought of before and the results are outstanding. Thanks so much for putting us together. One of the friends I referred Bill to had a two hour conversation with him and a follow up conversation a few days later. My friend decided against the original approach he had been considering for his business and Bill literally dictated for him, on the phone, the strategy he instead went with and my friend has been forever grateful. How much did he charge my friend? Nothinghe just did it as a favor to me. One of the most incredible things about Bill is he is not like other consultants. He does not always have his hand out for a fee. When he commits he commits and in the process if he sees something that needs to be fixed he either just fixes it or tells me what I should do to fix it. He never says and that will be another $500. Now Bill has decided to help business owners on Thumbtack in his spare time as his way of giving back to entrepreneurs. He told me about one retail owner that he spoke to for an hour or so recently that has already started to implement the ideas he got from Bill on their first call. He invited Bill to come to his shop so they could meet but who knows if that will ever happen its 15 minutes away. The point is that Bill does not care if that person ever calls him back he knows that for the time it took him to advise this business owner he made a difference in that persons business. If you and Bill decide to engage in a consulting arrangement I will tell you that he does not come cheaply and sometimes he simply works on a contingency vs an hourly rate or a project fee. He did tell me that we was going to give Thumbtack business owners a big discount from his normal rates because he understands the economics of starting a new business. Best of luck in whatever business you are engaged in but if you get a chance to talk with Bill you should take it. I was a successful business man before I met Bill but I have literally lost track of the great strategies, tactics and ideas he has provided with me over the years.
