"I am so very happy that I found Deborah at Muscle Therapy For A Sound Structure! I asked to speak with her by phone and she responded right away. After talking to Deborah I felt very comfortable to have her come to my house to give me a massage. She showed up a few minutes early, was professionally dressed, and is very clean and neat. She listened to my needs and was very caring. I am really looking forward to my appointment with her next week. I highly recommend that you give Deborah a try!"

"Hello, I’m a Licensed Massage Therapist, Psychic Medium, Reiki Master, and Inspiring Spiritual Life Coach. Holistic Therapies are the best for the mind, body, and soul/spirit. What makes my service different? I genuinely care about my clients and not always for the money, most of the Massage Therapists or Holistic Practitioners these days only care about the mighty dollar while I on the other hand have prices at a reasonable rate and always make sure you are satisfied with the service. "I am a mobile, in home therapist. I've worked in spas, schools, and shows. Therapy is very important to me as it doesn't just address one part of the body. It addresses everything... one thing can literally mean it leads to another ,and some clients don't know it's broke until we fix it. I have never been one to do this for the money , rather, to earn the trust back in this field as so many people are hindered from massage therapy because of all the bad the comes with something that is really an amazing field. If I am not exactly what is needed I will direct people in the right direction... I have pride in my work, but I don't hold on to my pride and or feel I know everything about this field , as , I am learning something new all the time ."

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is Thai massage?

Thai massage, also called Thai yoga massage, combines acupressure and assisted yoga postures. Thai massage is based on the flow of energy through the body and focuses on energy lines called “sen.” It doesn’t use oils or lotions and, instead of rubbing muscles, the massage therapist compresses, pulls, stretches and rocks the recipient’s body to promote the flow of energy through these sen. In this form of massage therapy, practitioners use their hands, knees, legs and feet to apply deep muscle compression and stretch the body. It’s often performed on a mat on the floor instead of on a massage table. Like most forms of massage, Thai massage is used to relieve stress, improve range of motion and enhance flexibility. Some people also use Thai massage to address a range of health issues, including:

  • Relieving tension headaches
  • Decreasing back pain
  • Reducing joint stiffness and pain
  • Stimulating circulation and lymphatic drainage
  • Boosting energy

Because a traditional Thai massage session covers all of the muscles in your body, it typically lasts 90 minutes to 120 minutes.

How much do you tip a massage therapist?

All forms of massage therapy, from Thai massage to Swedish massage to deep tissue massage, are similar to other spa or hospitality services. So it’s appropriate to tip a massage therapist the standard hospitality rate of 15 percent to 20 percent of the cost of the session. For example, the national average cost for a deep tissue massage is $70-$90, so expect to tip $12-$18. Of course, you can always tip more or less depending on your experience, especially if you’ve opted for extra services. For example, expect to tip more for a couple’s hot stone massage session that includes aromatherapy. Also, if you’re paying with a gift certificate or coupon, or purchasing a discounted multi-session package, make sure to calculate your tip based on the full price of the massage.
