I learned music theory and how to play the flute with Greg Tomlinson for four years, percussion for one year, and piano for 1 year. During this time, "Mr. T" was unwavering when it came to his standard for performance. He was diligent, straight forward, strict, and was responsible for instilling a love for music in me. I found joy in playing the piano, as opposed to former instructors I've had. I would recommend Tomlinson Music for anyone interested in starting or furthering their music career!
It's really early for me to make a truly informed review but my first impressions of Vanessa are all positive. We've only had one lesson for a beginner flute player so it's impossible for me to say where this will end up. But again, it's like the guy that fell off the 20 story building. On the way down he could be heard saying, so far so good.
My 8-years-old daugther has developed a passion of learning a wind instrument, flute in particular. Last year, we met with Ms. Cheryl at a music center and my daughter really loved her teaching. We have been having a private flute lessons with Ms. Cheryl for more than a year. Ms. Cheryl is assertive as well as providing a positive and nurturing environment. She is not only talented but also manage to create a fun but challenging lessons for kids. I can see the improvement from my daughter. Most importantly, Ms. Cheryl is a member of MTAC, so I was really happy that my daughter was able to enroll into Certificate of Merit this year. Ms. Cheryl understands that Certificate of Merit is an important program for her students. Overall, I would highly recommend Ms. Cheryl as a flute instructor because of her professionalism and good teaching attitude.
I have played flute for over 10 years. I hold a BM Performance in flute from the University of Redlands (2011), where I studied with artist-teacher Sara Andon. After completing my bachelor's degree I studied at the University of Texas at Austin and completed all coursework toward a Master's in Music Theory. While there I taught aural skills and intro to film sound as a TA for three semesters. As a flute instructor I try to incorporate knowledge of music theory into my lessons to broaden students' general knowledge and understanding of the music they play.

I have been playing the flute for nearly nine years now and have taught flute lessons to middle school and high-school aged musicians. I was in my high school's marching band for four years and was in an advanced wind ensemble group for my third year. I still love playing for fun in my spare time and have retained many skills and techniques from all these years. I would love to help out younger musicians that might need a hand in flute basics, techniques, embouchure control etc.

Greetings! My name is Albert Picon, and I am a private saxophone, flute, and piano teacher. I have my bachelor's of arts degree in music education from Cal Poly Pomona University. During my undergraduate studies in music, I received private instruction under the direction of classical saxophonist Lori R. Huff. Moreover, I also had the opportunity to study jazz improvisation with two well-known jazz saxophonists in the Los Angeles area, Tom Luer and Craig Durst. During my last year of college, I studied jazz theory with Javier Vergara, who is a former member of the Grammy award winning Poncho Sanchez Latin Jazz Band. I provide music lessons to all individuals ages 5 and above at my residence. Whether you have played an instrument, or it's your first time learning an instrument, I provide additional support for your level, so that you can start making music at a fast pace. Every student is given different exercises according to their needs. All students are allowed to record each lesson using a recording device that they wish to utilize during each lesson. (Note: If students decide to use their device, it will help them practice daily and increase their level of performance.) You should already have a keyboard or piano, sax or flute by the first lesson because I will assign pieces and exercises for you to practice weekly. If you have had lessons before (group or private), please bring the most recent piece that you have played. This will enable me to see what you have worked on and where to begin a new lesson based on the ability of your performance. During each lesson, there is at least 2-3 new concepts introduced. Regardless of the student's level, every lesson will be conducted in this order: A) Warm up B) Technique exercises C) Play prepared repertoire (if student is ready to play songs) D) Apply techniques to repertoire E) Review previous lesson Aside from teaching privately, I'm also a freelance musician in the Los Angeles area. I have had the opportunity to play with local bands in the L.A. area, such as "Sangria", "Freddy G and the Smooth Response", and "Eastside Groove and the Goodies". I have shared the stage with local salsa and Latin jazz bands which were "Chino Espinoza y Los Duenos Del Son", "Octavio Figueroa y La Combinacion", "Orquesta Son Y Clave", "Orquesta Son Y Cache", "Mambo Lucky 7", "Angel Lebron y Su Sabor Latino", "Mambop Salsa Band", and "Frank Cano Latin Jazz Band". Currently, I'm conducting my own Latin jazz/salsa quintet called "Sabroson". If you are interested in receiving private lessons on sax, flute or piano, feel free to reach me at my cellphone number. I look forward to teaching you new musical concepts and techniques that will enable you to become a proficient musician.
