This company is a 5 star without a doubt. I talked to Ed, two days later Sean came to my home. He got right to work. Vacuumed all my vents and ducts, cleaned my A/C unit, and put in a new air filter. Sean was very professional and friendly. I couldn't be happier with AIR DUCT PROFESSIONALS. 👍

Sam installed my new stainless steel kitchen hood which required him to cut a hole in my kitchen ceiling and route duct work to exterior, cutting another hole in house stucco. He made three trips to my house, first two check out the scope of the necessary work, second to cut the holes and install duct work and third, to install the hood. He accommodated my remodeling schedule and did not complete the installation until my tile backspace was installed. He is very kind and all about customer service and is very professional. I recommend him for any appliance installation or repair and will call him again when I need help.

Marco was very professional and polite. He did exactly what we asked and didn't try to sell us anything we didn't truly need. Quoted price was exactly what we paid. He came on short notice and cleaned all of our vents and air ducts and shampooed all our rooms with carpet. This is the first time I have felt that those rooms were really clean sense we club ought the house. The carpet looks almost new and feels great! Will most definitely be using services again when needed!!!

James installed a range hood for me. I started out on this project by contacting an "appliance installer" that was recommended. I'll call him the "1st installer". It took the 1st installer at least 2 weeks to make it out to my house to look at the job. Then he declined the job saying it was such a simple job that I should simply go to the store that sold the vent hoods and they's probably have one of their people install the hood for a minimal charge. I went over to Pacific Sales and bought a hood I liked. I told the salesman to recommend a good installer. I told him I wanted someone highly qualified because the hole in the ceiling would need to be moved. The hood arrived and then a few days later the 2nd installer came to do the installation. The 2nd installer took a look at the job and said he couldn't do it because preparations still needed to be made, ie the hole in the ceiling needed to be moved. Next I contacted a 3rd person, a handyman I know that usually can usually do just about anything. He removed the drywall on the ceiling but he couldn't complete the job because he said he wasn't licensed to cut a hold in the roof. Finally I went on Thumbtack and found James, the 4th installer. He came out immediately and did everything excerpt to seal the vent on top of the roof. He referred me to a roofer who didn't show up. When James found out that the roofer hadn't showed up James climbed on my roof and sealed it against the weather...for no additional charge! I was so impressed with James that I've hired him to remodel my downstairs and convert it to a rental unit.

Max and his team were amazing. They removed all of our old duct work in our home and then installed new ducts. They also removed our heater and installed a new heater and a new AC Unit. The house is so nice and cool during the summer. His team was very professional and very kind and easy to work with. They got the work done quickly and the price was amazingly low. I recommend Max and his team for any work. Thanks Max!!

I could not give a higher rating for Abe. This is an extraordinarily kind, honest, hardworking, and likeable guy. He does great work for a good price. He communicated through every step of the process and the end product was wonderful. He did a bunch of misc things for us, including drywall, insulation, and duct work. He is very talented and knows his way around most every trade. Best of all, you can't help but feel comfortable to have him around your home. He is just a great guy and a reliable, affordable option when you don't want to do the work yourself. I'll be hiring him again, that is for sure.

I suffer from allergies, especially cat dander. I rented this house remotely while living in DC. The landlord promised there were not pets, but it was discovered a day before our move in there were cats and dogs previously. I knew about duct cleaning but I did not know that the technology had improved to the point of what was delivered by this company. I would and do recommend them to my friends and any landlord that really needs to clean a property. Very well done!

Jared was great and solved a difficult problem of raising the ceiling by hiding a very sizable duct junction in a very tight space. He designed the solution and worked diligently to finish it. For the amount of effort the project was fairly priced and results looks great!

Mike and team did an excellent job, replacing my aged AC/Heat unit and duct-work with a brand new, energy efficient system, upgraded duct-work and replacement registers and returns. The removal & install took the 2 days he estimated. No hidden issues or costs. They showed up on time. Very quick and painless. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to friends or family.

I chose Energy Experts from Yelp. Kenny came out explained all the options/prices I could make on my decision. He was extremely polite and never pressured me during his estimate. I chose the 3.5 ton AC Pro AC, included cooling coil, heater, ultraviolet sensor, and cooling coil filter I. In addition to these items they cleaned the air ducts and installed an attic fan all for the cost of $6600.00. This I felt was a great price considering other quotes I received were too expensive. Also included are the cost for permits and energy inspections from the state. Bare in mind this took 1 and 1/2 days to complete because of the parts I selected. However, they made sure I had the A/C up and running the first day and completed the job the following day. One thing I admire about this company is they follow state energy requirements, they do a professional job and leave your home clean of any debri. Also they go over everything concerning the work they did and how to operate the system. You can't go wrong with this company and the unit runs great better than the one that came with this house when I bought it new.

The guys were very good, their pricing was good, and they came when they said. They actually went above and beyond to clean the vent of the dryer, pulling everything out, checking it, and pulling it out again to make sure that there were no kinks in the line. I was quite impressed!

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How often should you get your air ducts cleaned?

How often you should clean your air ducts depends on your situation. If you or someone in the home has asthma or is acutely allergic to certain airborne materials or pollen, regular duct cleaning may be helpful. The Environmental Protection Agency doesn’t have an official position on the necessity of air duct cleaning unless the ducts have been contaminated by rodents, insects or mold, or you are aware of particles blowing out through the vents. The EPA recommends you have your air ducts cleaned on an as-needed basis. The National Air Duct Cleaners Association (NADCA) suggests having air ducts cleaned every three to five years.

Be cautious with companies that offer “whole house air duct cleaning,” urges the NADCA. The company may be using unscrupulous tactics to upsell you once they get started. Before any work begins, always clarify in writing what the job entails and what the cost will be. To protect yourself against fraud, read customer reviews and verify that your HVAC cleaning service has applicable licenses and certifications.

Do you need to clean your air ducts?

Air duct cleaning is done by heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) professionals. The pros use industrial-strength, truck-mounted vacuums and powerful brushes and hoses to clean inside the metal ducts that make up your forced air heating and cooling system. The Environmental Protection Agency recommends duct cleaning if there is “substantial visible mold growth inside hard surface ducts, ducts that are infested with vermin such as rodents or insects, or ducts that are clogged with excessive amounts of dust and debris and/or particles are actually released into the home from your supply registers.”

You should also have air ducts cleaned after recent water contamination or water damage to prevent mold; after renovations or remodeling to ensure debris and dust didn’t settle in the vents and ducts; if you are having problems with allergies or asthma; or when you are moving into a newly purchased home, especially if the previous owners smoked or had pets. The National Air Duct Cleaners Association (NADCA) recommends getting your air ducts cleaned every three to five years, or every two to three years in regions where homeowners use their air conditioning and heater for many months of the year, while the EPA suggests homeowners have duct cleaning done as needed.

How long does it take to get your ducts cleaned?

The amount of time air duct cleaning takes can depend on how extensive your duct system is, how old your air ducts are, and whether they have ever been cleaned. On average, expect a standard size home (between 2,000 and 3,000 square feet) to take 2-5 hours for one to two technicians to clean. Here are the proper protocol and equipment you should expect from a professional duct cleaning service, as recommended by the Environmental Protection Agency:

      • All doors and access ports opened to ensure the entire duct system is inspected and cleaned.
      • Thorough system inspection prior to cleaning to identify possible asbestos-containing materials. If asbestos is present, specially trained and equipped contractors must do the removal.
      • Use of approved vacuum equipment that exhausts particles outside of your house. If the vacuum exhausts inside your home, it must be HEPA equipment.
      • Furnishings and carpet covered and protected.
      • Soft-bristled brushes only on fiberglass duct board and sheet metal ducts internally lined with fiberglass.
      • Ductwork properly protected.
      • Adherence to guidelines and practices set down by the National Air Duct Cleaners Association.

How much does it cost to replace air ducts in a house?

If your air ducts have been damaged, you’ll need to replace them. The national average air duct replacement cost is $150-$280, which may not include materials. Factors such as duct material, labor, location of ducts and linear feet of ductwork will all affect your final costs. Labor costs will vary based on how accessible the ducts are and what material your ducts are made of. The least expensive duct material is a flexible, non-metallic ducting that costs approximately $1-$2 per linear foot. Flexible aluminum is generally more expensive and stronger than non-metallic ducting. Stainless steel ducting is the strongest, the least flexible (meaning installing it typically has higher labor rates), and usually the most expensive. An average price for air duct replacement could range between $35 and $55 per linear foot, including basic materials and labor. A typical single-family home has 6-10 duct runs; replacing or installing one duct run could average $150-$250 for labor.

How much does it cost to have your air ducts cleaned?

If you’re concerned about dust, allergens or mold, it may be time to have your air ducts cleaned. The national average cost for air duct cleaning ranges from $190 to $250. Air duct cleaning costs will vary based on a number of factors such as your location in the country, the age and condition of your air ducts, the number of linear feet to be cleaned, and any repairs your ducts may need. HVAC cleaning companies should clearly outline what is included in their services and at what rate, so always make sure you understand and have a written agreement before work begins. Here are some examples of average air duct cleaning costs:

      • Tiered pricing for different levels of service:
        • Standard cleaning: $100, which may include truck-mounted industrial vacuums, high-pressure air wands and air snakes to clean all supply and return vents, branch lines, and main trunk lines.
        • Advanced cleaning: $200, which may include standard cleaning services, plus rotobrush or viper clean sweep in the main trunk lines.
        • Ultimate cleaning: $400, which may include advanced cleaning, plus insertion of a viper microline into all vents to force debris down the branch lines and into the main trunk lines, to be handled by the viper clean sweep. Typically, all ductwork surface is contacted, before-and-after photos are provided, and the furnace is cleaned.
      • A flat rate for unlimited vents: $289.
      • Additional fees for larger houses: $20 for each additional 500 square feet over 2,500.
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
