I highly recommend Juliet Hawk to anyone looking for a reading/writing tutor. She is working with two of my children, one to achieve the highest possible SAT results, and the other to improve reading comprehension and writing skills. Juliet is smart, genuine, and professional. She clearly loves her work and her enthusiasm is contagious.

I have nothing but positive things to say about my experience with Joyee and his team. We've been working with them for quite a while and they've helped us with math tutoring, test preparation, and now going into our senior year, they're helping us prepare for college applications. More specifically, my son's score on the ACT jumped 6 points after 2 months of working with Joyee and Robert. I can't recommend them enough!

Our tutor, Danielle, has been great for working with my daughter. We needed someone who could tutor in math, but also assist in developing organizational skills.

Mrs. Konie is fantastic!!! My six year old has ADHD and has struggled in preschool and kindergarten as a result. His reading and writing abilities were well below the level required for a student of his age. For three moths, he worked with Mrs. Konie, twice a week, to improve these critical skills. To my surprise, my son now reads and writes. Most importantly, he enjoys the challenges of both. Thank you, Mrs. Konie.

We have had a good experience with Susan thus far. She is meeting with our son Ryan (age 8) and helping him with his reading comprehension issues. Ryan loves to work with her. We are hoping for an improvement in performance in the classroom for our son and feel that Susan is a good resource for this.

Mary Ellen is one of the best English and writing tutors out there. She has been working with both of my sons, now ages 14 and 17, for several years, helping them develop their writing and literary analysis skills. My older son had problems organizing his thoughts and expressing his ideas clearly and succinctly, and Mary Ellen was instrumental in helping him develop these writing skills. She is adept at literary analysis, an area my younger son needed support in, and provided the extra help he needed to fully comprehend the difficult novels his class was reading. As importantly, Mary Ellen has an amazing ability to relate to her students and both my boys looked forward to working with her.

Vanessa has been tutoring me for about two months, and I have never learned so much in such a short period. She has many tips and tricks to help me remember all of the rules of the Spanish language. She is a very kind and energetic person who is always willing to change her schedule to fit your own. I would strongly recommend Vanessa to anybody who needs help!

I hired Gene last summer to help my son get a better grasp on math prior to going back to school. I was not disappointed at all. I had Gene come over twice a week for about 6 weeks or so. By the end my son was ready for 6th grade! The tutoring really helped my son's attitude and confidence going back to school. I asked my son recently if he would like Gene to prep him in July/Aug for 7th grade math and english. He actually said Yes! Gene must be something special if a kid is willing to give up a few of hours each week of his summer vacation for tutoring. Gene is real personable with kids and they definitely like learning from Him.

He is a really outstanding teacher. His patience always let me feel very related in his classes. Because I am a International student, and my teachers never used English to teach students before, sometimes I can be very nervous and confused in what teachers say in America classes. But Earl really gives me confidences, which make me believe I can overcome the difficulties I met in my study. Moreover, he really impresses me when he teaches me SAT writing, due to the reason that he separates long sentences for me and tells me which different functions of which different parts of them; this method is very useful for International students such as me. However, few teachers use this method to teach students when they cannot understand the meanings of the long and difficult sentences. Honestly, he did really give me lots of help.

Rebecca R. – San Diego State University (Business and Marketing) “I met MathWizJohn when I was lost in my Accounting class. I felt like there was no way I was going to be able to learn so much material and turn my grade around when I was already so behind. The class was moving quickly, and the problems seemed to be from another planet or book I hadn’t read!! The tutors here were able to slow things down to my pace, show me the material in a way I understood it, and were always encouraging. I was able to salvage a B in the class (clutch), and since then I have received help in Acct 202 and Fin 323. MWJ’s has helped me stay on top of my tough classes, and my grades have improved a lot!”

About

I was asked to remain at a local elementary school even after the teacher I was subbing for returned. With district H R approval, I was asked to take over that class while the teacher on extended leave was asked to do assessment testing for multiple grades upon her return..This was a huge compliment to me and my abilities to create "a sense of community" for the students who had multiple subs and loss of continuity and progress.

About

QUESTION: If this method is so simple, why didn’t anyone figure it out before? .......................................... ANSWER: Frankly, we’re all scratching our heads and wondering the very same thing. Once a student experiences the ease and simplicity of the Universal Reading Method, they’ll likely wonder why reading is taught any other way. History has shown us many examples of “game changing” technology that, once accepted, has had the ability to instantly alter the status quo. Just as in most of those prior situations, this method is likely to meet resistance at first. People often have a difficult time with big paradigm shifts in any field. There is an entire system in place set up to defend “the way it’s always been done” and many people might feel threatened. After all, the old methods worked for most of us, right? Well… clearly not. It is estimated that up to ¼ of the adult population in the United States is functionally illiterate, with millions more inexplicably “graduating” high school every year. Tackling this huge problem with existing methods hasn’t worked, nor can it work! Those systems are far too slow and cumbersome in their approach. Put simply, the goal of the Universal Reading Method is to help wipe illiteracy off the face of the English-speaking world. It might take some time to accomplish that, but now we at least have a suitable tool to tackle this growing problem. We hope you’ll give us a try. You have nothing to lose but more years of unnecessary frustration for the challenged reader that you know.
