TLDR: EC Construction(Santos!) is simply the best contractor I've worked in years! I am recommending him here and I am recommending him confidently to all of my friends. Details: I have to start this review by saying that I've bought fixer-upper house in Lafayette 5 years ago and I had opportunity to work with several different contractors that were doing all sorts of work on my property, from landscaping and foundation work to final drywall + painting + touchup work. I hired Santos(which is the same as EC Construction) to build attached garage addition to my existing house and re-build my entrance. While the project is not 100% finished yet due to materials constraints that I've been waiting for 6 months now, it is ready enough so I can already use garage and my new entrance on a regular basis. PROFESSIONALISM: I'd like to point out that Santos a very nice and respectful person, he has addressed every single thing(minor and major) that we asked him. There were couple times when we asked him to re-do what he already has done and he re-did it - no questions asked even though it obviously cost him extra labor and materials. Unlike some of previous contractors, Santos has a core team/crew: they are all the same people working on our property all the time. He personally came over almost every day when work was done to check its quality and in case quality standards were not met he always asked his crew to address it. He also was in touch with my engineer(who designed our garage and entry) on a regular basis to make sure that all that he is building is up to spec. My engineer did put some premium materials for garage that are hidden behind the walls(CDX vs osb for example or CDX with radian barrier - which was custom order Santos had to place). Santos did order all the high quality materials as it was spec'd out in engineering/architectural plans. ATTENTION TO DETAILS: When his crew started to work on exterior finishing, I and my wife could not be happier how precise these guys are. Yes, it took them longer than I expected it to install fascia* and soffit, but the level of precision on how all planks are installed and attached to each other in soffit and how final result end up looking - totally worth it. I'm super happy with how garage and entry end up looking. The only exception to Santos' [quality team] is his plumber(see plumber details in CONS section below) and siding guys. The the only thing siding guys cared bout was to finish this job asap and leave. PRICE: I won't reveal how much my project cost for obvious reasons. Price per each project in my opinion is unique negotiation point where homeowner and contractor agree upon, such that both parties are happy. All I can say is that I have interviewed about 7 contractors(give or take) and I did have offers to do same scope of work for cheaper and pricey. The price that Santos offered was somewhere in the middle range. Given that I know now, after project is done, would I go with cheaper option? Hell NO:)! The quality, respect and collaboration that I get from working with Santos, has totally worth me picking him as my contractor vs just going with the cheapest offer that I had. Santos also has stick to originally agreed contract price and never tried to push on price increase for any reason. There were couple occasions when we wanted to change scope significantly enough and only in these cases we both agreed to talk about additional payments for additional work or materials that were not listed on original architectural/engineering drawings. CONS: while everything that I mentioned above is all good things I'd like this review to be fair, so here we go, couple things to know. 1. TLDR: Stay away from plumber Felix! Details: I only have worked with one plumber that Santos "provided" to me, his name is Felix(I believe his truck has Flex Rooter label os something like that). I won't work with Felix on any of my future projects as this guy has never done any of his tasks properly without us asking him to come back and do it right way. Couple examples: - I asked him to put 1" gas pipes, and he installed 3/4" - I asked him to run sewer line under garage slab in one direction and he dug a trench in different direction(cause soil digging was easier there) - I asked him to put cleanout next to my garage corner and he put it off that corner just because to move it closer he had to use more fittings and glue more. Basically, Felix has never done anything that I was satisfied. I'm very glad I checked my exterior taknless heater position BEFORE he screwed it down completely to the wall, cause it was not leveled! properly, so we had to level it and re-attach it again. 2. TLDR: make sure you have statement in contract that extra fee is charged in case project is not delivered on time. Details: I was so extremely happy with Santos while it was BEFORE due date for my garage so I had no doubts that with speed like this he will be ready well before due date. So I told him that I won't charge him for each delayed day(as it was stated in contract). Due to some material supply constraints we did went behind our schedule but even after materials arrived, Santos wasn't back on my project immediately. I didn't charge him for delays, cause I still think he did the best job out there on my property, but for future projects, I'll stick with [I will charge you on daily basis if you're not on time] rule and hopefully it will motivate him a bit more to come and finish project faster :) SUMMARY: while there are still some minor things to finish in our current garage project, I'm already very happy with Santos. Those cons that I mentioned are negligible compared to how good final result is and how happy we are. And issues with Felix may be very easily fixed if you ask Santos to give you another plumber:). He has gone above and beyond what we were asking from him. He also has exhibited very good personal soft skills when working with us, spent a lot of extra time talking about possible options and outcomes had we gone one way or another with our garage project. I will definitely consider Santos for my future projects. * we asked Santos to re-do fascia 3 times. Again, I totally understand that it is not super pleasant experience for someone when it is asked to redo a work that considered "done" but Santos took our constructive arguments about fascia very respectfully and redid fascia until we get final result we were all happy with.

After first conversation with Rick, he took me to his job site. I saw his work and I know he can finish my framing work as a dessert. So I hired him, he and his brother came to my job on Friday helped me ordered all the materials and started the following Monday. They work professionally and keep the job site clean and safe everyday, very important: they wear uniform and safety equipment. Thanks rick and his crew help me finish my framing job. I’ll pass him more jobs and refer to anyone else who needs references

I’ve been in construction for many years, and I know how many bad contractors are out there. When I hire Rick to do some work, he reminds me that there are still some out there that pick up their phone, give a reasonable price, and to do the things they say they will do. I call him first for multiple trades because I know he will come through for me.
