The kids at my daughter's 5th birthday party loved it. He brought little music shakers for all the kids so they felt like they were in a band. And great music to listen to as you're eating and hanging out with friends. Thanks Tucker
When you're getting married, you want all the people around you to not only do the jobs they've been hired to do, but you want them to exude a supportive, happy, encouraging, can-do energy: Mr. Gilmartin does all of that, and more. He arrived super early for the event, dressed appropriately, and with a big smile on. He had learned a song that we asked him to learn for our processional, and paced it exactly right for walking and to end exactly when the bride arrived at the altar (I still don't know how he managed that). He was great at taking cues and last-minute ceremony instructions, and -- oh yes, did I mention? -- he is a GREAT guitarist! He can switch seamlessly from Latin to Brazilian to classical to jazz to pop or folk without missing a beat. Later, at the reception he took requests and was fun for the guests at our small wedding, showing tremendous social as well as musical skill. Mr. Gilmartin will bring you no problems, only solution, and beautiful, beautiful music for your special day. I recommend him highly.
Thank you so much for making my birthday party a fabulous night to remember. You were awesome and everyone raved at what an awesome band I had found! I will definitely hire you again!!!! Living Cover Band Rocks!
Summer is an amazing theory teacher in so many ways! She's incredibly professional, patient, intuitive, and understanding and has the ability to teach to your personal learning style. Loved every minute of working with her, and it's helped advance my own understanding of music, both with guitar and singing, in a way that has allowed me to make leaps and bounds in my own songwriting as well as learning other music styles. Hire her, right this very minute!
I can't say enough wonderful things about The Happiness Band! We hired them to play jazz and classical music at our engagement and our guests loved them! Not only were they very talented, but a couple of days prior to the event I asked if the band would be willing to learn background music to a modern song for my sister to sing at our event and they totally pulled it off! They even rehearsed with her before the event started. They were very skilled, came and set up on time, and worked with our budget! I definitely plan on reaching out to them again in the future!
I've been taking guitar lessons with Kimberly since the beginning of 2011. At the time I'd had several years of lessons using a traditional method on acoustic guitar and was looking for a teacher who could help me focus on electric blues rock and move me beyond my intermediate skill level. Kimberly has a real focus on and talent for teaching. My lessons are tailored to meet my interests. A large part of the lesson is devoted to learning her method for blues soloing--at least 5 approaches to improvisation and comping. After several years, I've come to see how these approaches interweave, complement each other and have become an intuitive part of my musical vocabulary. Also, because I expressed an interest, part of the lesson involves sight reading, learning blues and jazz theory, developing rhythmic playing sense, and learning a few favorite solos. Kimberly has an amazing ability to tab out and teach any song you give her. Which leads to the best part--after 6 months I was invited to play with one of her ensemble classes. While I was absolutely petrified with fear at the beginning, this has turned into one of the highlights of my week every week. It is just downright fun! It's a safe and forgiving environment where you can make mistakes and learn, or try things out that might flop, or turn into something cool. Every teacher and guitar magazine article all point to the need to play with other musicians to develop your skills and this is where Kimberly Allison really delivers. I feel that I could now sit in with other musicians and contribute. I give my highest recommendation for taking lessons with Kimberly.
We loved rock band Reckless. They have a great repertoire and well rehearsed. Voices and talents are excellent. I could not have asked for more. We hired them for a surprise birthday party and our guests loved them. Kim the band leader has her act together and responded promptly to any and all questions. Super easy to work with and a wonderful addition to your party. Would hire them again in a heartbeat.
We commissioned Nova Mariee to perform with her band during our the dinner portion of our wedding reception and glad that we did! We asked to to perform a playlist of song that we wanted to hear live. From the initial contact to the day of the event it, the communication was outstanding. The performance was loved by all our guests, would love to work and refer Nova Mariee anytime! Amazing voice and band!
We used Tyler to play Sax while our guests arrived - can't say enough good things about him! He was quick to respond to our emails and gave us some awesome song choices. He took the lead the day of the wedding and coordinated with the wedding planner and other vendors - it was totally seamless. The guests LOVED his talent and we loved working with him.
My son started formal drum lessons with Steve two and a half years ago. Steve set the bar on professionalism, flexibility, communication, and has the patience to teach music to younger kids. My son went from a kid banging on a toy drum, to a musician that could play drum set rhythms in an elementary school jazz band. We've had other instructors since Steve left the Los Alamitos area but none of them compared to his high level of attributes listed earlier.
We hired this wonderful band for our wedding. They went above and beyond to make our day extra special and worked with our budget. They even learnt our special song requests and all our guests absolutely would not stop raving about how amazing the band was. I would highly recommend.
The John Brown Band played the Redondo Beach 4th of July Block Party and had the whole neighborhood rockin' out all night long. What a party!! After I heard them play, I knew I wanted to hire them for my wedding in San Diego on August 29. We had a great experience working with John and would recommend them in a heartbeat. The #1 comment from our wedding guests was how awesome the band was!! Upbeat song selection, dance-ability, and timing were perfect, even with no rehearsal on the Bridal Party Entrance!!! They even played a very special song (Harvest Moon) which I had totally forgotten to request - just perfect. And we got some GREAT pictures. :)
Very professional band and awesome musicians. We had a blast!
Emma sang at my wedding. She's not only gorgeous, her voice is also fantastic and powerful. She sang a capella as well as with a band and both performances were awesome: tear provokers and dance instigators. I'd recommend her any day.
Mark was on time with a full catalogue of music. He was outgoing and affable. Very eager to please. Completely satisfied. Will definitely use him again.
I have known Jennifer Deirmendjian for 12 years now and worked with her musically on solo projects off and on as well as performances in bands. She plays and writes violin beautifully. I have learned so much from her musicianship in rehearsals on a professional level more than anyone I have ever worked with. She is patient, kind and disciplined. I highly recommend her teaching experience as she has been my mentor and inspired me in so many ways!
Cliff is such a TALENTED MUSICIAN! He's an excellent performer with top quality skills on the guitar! When he puts together a band for an occasion you can be sure that he will arrive prepared and surpass your expectations! He's also a fine composer. As a teacher he is kind, compassionate and truly gifted. He's warm and an excellent communicator. BEST IN LA!!!
I have worked with L.A. Rhythm Crew a few times. Larry Williams & his band are true professionals who will make your event unforgettable. They have a large song list with music for all ages. They will keep your guests on the dance floor for sure!
Mischief made my event. We had a dance floor and the band kept it full all evening long. They had great groove, had varied song list. Marlena not only has great voice - truly star quality - but was amazingly varied in style for music she sang and she certainly kept the guys attention. If she wasn't so nice I would hate her :-) the lead guitar player clear knows his craft - his solos were crazy good and fantastic job singing. Harmony amount the members was impressive often in 4 parts! They showed up on time, were professional, interacted very well with my friends, and put on an amazing show in addition to the amazing sound. I would definitely hire them again!

With their debut album receiving notable acclaim, this acoustic quintet is already making waves as one of the few true crossover bluegrass bands. Recent main stage performances at the Northwest String Summit, Mateel Summer Arts Festival, and Topanga Banjo Fiddle Contest have cemented Hot October as a SoCal favorite as they prepare for their 2018 tour. While it might not be that uncommon for a bluegrass band to have all five musicians singing in harmony, what sets this group apart is the clear and apparent virtuosity of each individual working towards the greater composition. Lead vocals, traded by Paul Fuller (Banjo) and Jesse Olema (Fiddle), are supported by a masterful rhythm section. Craig Ferguson (Mandolin & Dobro), Sasha Birrittella (Guitar), and David Tranchina (Upright Bass) work together seamlessly creating a deep rooted pocket while trading sweeping, flat-picked lines for David’s unmatched bowed solos. Yes, the groups collective improvisations are something to be marveled at, but what is most exciting is seeing where the new generation of bluegrass music is headed, and looking at what Hot October is bringing to the table, let's just say that it's a very exciting time to be a bluegrass fan.
