He was prompt, professional and did a nice job. He cleaned everything up when he was done. I would have liked if he could have done the finish work. I thought he was going to repair the drywall and then paint the area. He told us he only does the drywall. We still need to paint the area or hire someone to do that.

Do not hesitate to call G B Construction for gutter cleaning and replacement and leaf guards. They are prompt, quick, thorough, friendly and professional. Their charges are reasonable, and they do not upsell. I understand that they also do tile and wood floors, painting and household moving. I will be using them again and again.

Jeff Church is a superb painter who takes pride in his work and the finished product, and he has fair and competitive prices. The quality of his work is exceptional and he was very responsive to my specific needs and requests. Jeff and his painters were punctual, courteous and professional, they left my house spotlessly clean. YOU HONESTLY CANNOT PAY FOR THIS KIND OF VALUE! Jeff Church treats your home lovingly as if it were his, and has a wonderful eye for detail. He uses only the finest quality paints, and, without charging a penny more than quoted, takes it upon himself to attend to small details to insure that the finished product is MAGAZINE WORTHY. I’m thrilled with my house which looks better than it did when it was new. As a painting business owner, Jeff is respected by the painters who work for him, and because he treats his painters with so much kindness, jobs get done with pride, in a timely manner, and with creative military precision. In the short period of time that I got to know Jeff Church, I found out that he is a super dad to three grown children, one, a son with Downs Syndrome. Jeff’s involvement as an advocate for people with special needs is a continuing and heartwarming aspect of his entire life, which spills over into his artistic and ethical painting jobs...WELL DONE!! I’m looking forward to recommending JEFF CHURCH for any painting job, and I will be using his painting company again for other jobs in the future. ***No need to look any further, JEFF CHURCH & SONS is the best choice for your painting needs.

We asked Pedros Painting to paint cabinets in a rental kitchen. He removed the cabinets and sanded and painted them. Came out amazing. Before and After pics posted. We asked Pedros Painting to paint the outside of the front of the building. He and his crew did an excellent job in replacing rotted siding and painting. He painted the inside walls of the front unit of our duplex, which came out excellent. He performed a full paint of the entire rental unit in the back of our duplex and did a good job! He is responsive, on time and offers great value. We were very happy with all the work he did for us. The last picture is Adees with paint on his teeth, hair and face. He is not afraid of hard work. He also communicates with the customer along the way to make sure everything is what the customer wants. At the end of the job, he again calls the customer to check on the work and he does more touch up so that the customer is happy. Thank you Adees!

I would hire A Better Choice Painting again. I was in a time crunch and they stayed pretty late on the first day to get the job done in my dead line. I would haven given 5 stars but the estimator said they would pull the handful of screws nails out of the walls and putty before painting and they only puttied the holes and didn't remove anything. I would have removed the screws in the garage and little nails in the house if I knew they were just going to paint over them. The main reason I gave them 4 stars is because they left 3 stains on the carpet. One was from the bottom of their ladder that wasn't on a drop cloth and two look like they were brought in with shoes or something. I may not have noticed any of them if I had not had the carpets cleaned 24hrs earlier. I think both of my issues could he managed though. I didn't have much time to inspect their work.

I recently used Shawn for my exterior and interior painting on a property I purchased as an investment. The house was a foreclosure so it was in very bad shape. There were millions holes through out the house. Some of the holes were very large and required lots of patching and re-texturizing. Shawn did an amazing job. What I like the most about Shawn is that he is very prompt and details oriented. I have no doubt that he was treating my house the same way he would treat his. My project was completed in a timely manner. The finished job was outstanding. While painting my house, Shawn was asked by my neighbors and other contractors that I had working on other projects at my house to paint their houses as well. I had to deal with many contractors for various projects before; so I understand how difficult it is to find one that you can count on. I am so glad I found Shawn because I know I can count on him. If you want your paint job done right, timely, and at an affordable price, go with Shawn. I am very satisfied with the paint job he done on both my interior and exterior. I plan on using him on all my future painting projects.

We had Mark and his team pain the outside of our home. We had to replace some of the siding on the home but after the painting you could not tell the old siding from the new. The whole house looks new again, and its 30 years old. We could not be happier!!!

I replaced my old shake roof with a composite roof. When I had the shake roof I had several leaks in the roof which damaged my ceiling dry wall at several upstairs locations. I contracted with Daryl's Handyman Service to repair the damaged drywall areas. Daryl completed the repairs with excellent workmanship. The most major repair was performed on the master bedroom bathroom ceiling. Daryl's work in the bathroom was exceptional as shown in the attached photos. Daryl not only repaired the drywall damage but he also painted the entire bathroom using his own initiative. Our bathroom looks great. My wife and I are very pleased. Daryl also performs fence repair work. We plan to contract with him in June or July to perform over 140 feet of fence repair. I highly recommend Daryl for any home repair needs.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much do painters cost?

The national average cost for an interior painter ranges between $450 and $900. Interior painters can tackle everything from complete color makeovers in each of your rooms to touching up an accent wall to painting pieces of furniture. The square footage and complexity of the project, along with the materials needed, are the main factors that will affect cost. Other factors include whether you supply the paint yourself or want the painter to do so, whether you move the furniture and do the prep work or ask them to do it, and whether any repair work is needed on the walls. Painting the ceiling and the trim will also have an effect on cost. The type of paint you choose can also raise or lower your house painting cost. A gallon of paint may range from $20 to over $100, depending on quality and brand. Ask your painter if they charge per hour or per square foot, and how much you can save by doing prep work (moving furniture, etc.) yourself.

How much does it cost to paint the interior of a house?

Interior house painting costs are calculated on a few key factors. Nationally, interior house painting projects range from $200 to $2,500. The wide price range indicates how much square footage, paint selection and labor can affect cost. One pro uses a laser to measure each room, subtracting the size of the doors and windows, and then bases the quote on the square footage of the actual surfaces to be painted. Painters may provide you with savings if you opt to paint your entire home rather than just having one room or an accent wall painted. For example, the average house painting cost for an 8x12 room with 8-foot ceilings is roughly $200, when contractor-grade paint is used. Painting ceilings, baseboards and frames can also affect cost. Pros may charge per linear foot to smooth and paint baseboards. In one area pros might charge 50 cents per linear foot to paint baseboards, while pros in another part of the country could charge $1.50 per linear foot for the same task. Painters may charge flat rates for painting door and window frames, with one charging $20-$25 and another $60 per door. Geography and regional costs to do business play a major role in the cost of interior painting. The same painter in a rural region has less to pay in taxes, transportation, insurance and overhead than they would in a major city like New York.

How much does a painter charge per room?

The cost to paint a room will vary based on the size of the room, the type of paint you select, any ceiling or trim work needed, and any repairs needed. If no repairs or other additional work is needed, painting a room with contractor-grade paint could range from $1 to $2 per square foot, including materials. Selecting a luxury paint (some cost more than $100 per gallon) will certainly increase your house painting costs. Here are some additional examples of average house painting costs, per room:

  • 12x12 room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 12x12 room with an 8-foot ceiling: about $100
  • 14x16 master bedroom with a 9-foot ceiling: about $150
  • 14x16 master bedroom with an 8-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 16x16 living room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $175
  • 16x16 living room with a 20-foot ceiling: starting at $225
