We used Avant-Garde for both photography (Elle) and videography (Alex) for our wedding in November (2020). We honestly could not be more happy with the outcome! Both Elle and Alex made both bride and groom super comfortable before, during and after the wedding. They were so professional and the outcomes were so beautiful! We got all the photography shots we wanted - and it was excellent quality. And the video was beautiful. A big thank you to you both! And for those folks undecided, take a chance on Avant-Garde. We are so glad we did!

OVER OUR 14 YEARS OF HIRING DIFFERENT VENDORS, THIS WAS OUR WORST EXPERIENCE Despite receiving some great video and photos, I was sick to my stomach to find one of the most important shots we wanted and had specifically requested both in conversation and on a shared document prior to our event, was NOT captured. What made matters worse was the amount of disrespect I experienced throughout the process of working together. There were many reasons why working with Avant-Garde Kinema Studio was our worse experience. Below are three specific examples. 1) PAYMENT FOCUSED VS. CLIENT FOCUSED: In our pre-meeting calls I emphasized how important communication was to me and requested confirmation in our group text when messages and documents were received. Two days before our event, I sent a google document with an overview and list of shots to be captured. Alex's team confirmed receipt of these important documents, but he did not. I thanked everyone in the group text and asked if Alex received the document but did not receive an answer. Later that evening, Alex texted me individually to inquire about payment and did not acknowledge or respond to the group text. This rubbed me the wrong way. It made me feel that my request for responsive team communication was ignored and what was more important was getting paid. 2) DISRESPECTFUL COMMUNICATION: The next morning, the day of our event, Alex and I spoke on the phone. I confirmed that I received the payment link and that I would take care of it immediately. During the conversation I shared how his text for payment and lack of acknowledgement and response in the group chat was not acceptable. As I tried to explain my concerns I was constantly interrupted. I was ultimately called "anal" for my attention to detail and mentioned that he and his team have everything under control. The name calling and dismissal of my concerns was extremely disrespectful. 3) LACK OF ACCOUNTABILITY & FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS Despite initially claiming responsibility for missing some of the most important shots from our time together, I then received the subsequent text messages. “I really don't want to bring any excuses. But on the list it said “screen, it should have said scoreboard.” “But we shouldn't miss that shot no matter if it was on the script or not.” "But there wasn’t any “scoreboard” term on the script. If there was “scoreboard” instead of “screen” I would have definitely have it.” Receiving these texts was insulting. It was a slap in the face because it felt he went from taking responsibility for missing the important shots to shifting the blame of the missed shot to me. I agree that my instructions should have said scoreboard vs. screen. However, my printed instructions clearly stated to move to different areas of the arena (top, middle, ground) during a specific time of the event to capture footage. The script even provided images of examples of what I wanted. In addition, I reiterated during rehearsals that they had 20 minutes after starting to move to different parts of the arena before needing to be back near the stage. When asking the photographer why weren't these moments captured per our verbal and written request, he replied that he was a little confused because Alex game him different instructions. What is ultimately frustrating is that clear instructions were not followed and important shots were missed because of it. I was hopeful to have a candid conversation during our scheduled post event call a week after our event on March 30th. This got pushed off and never happened. I sent a text two weeks ago and still have not received a response. I am sharing my candid experience because I don’t want anyone to go through what I did. This event was supposed to be a celebration, a huge milestone to look back on and smile. Unfortunately, when I think back to this event rather than being happy, I’m sad. My heart physically hurt for days because this was a milestone moment and I don’t ahave the video and photographs that I had asked and paid for.

We cannot wait to see the footage. Alex was very kind and professional. So glad we were able to snag his services. We've been to weddings where the video person was all in the way. I barely noticed him. He gave us guidance as we are not huge camera people. I would totally recommend his services!

If I could give ten stars, I would. I can't express how thankful I am for Alex and his team for his presence at my wedding. As soon as I reached out to him he responded within minutes. We set a time to speak and I told him what I envisioned and he more than delivered. He showed up early to the event, was accommodating to all of the guests and went above and beyond. He and his assistant Sabrina and their professionalism is admirable and you can tell he loves what he does because it shows in his work. I would absolutely recommend his services and would hire him again, and will be looking forward to for future events! Thank you Alex jaan to you and your team.

I highly recommend working with Avant-Garde because of their fun personality, their professional, their playfulness and flexibility as well as eye for details such as lighting and placement. Overall, I am super impressed with Avant-Garde! Alex is the all around best to work with and he smiles all the time and is very good at helping non models look like they know what they are doing. He’s also kind and fun to be around!
