The student feels Mary is collaborating with the student to achieve improvement. Mary isolates movements that need work and develops her own exercises separate from traditional ballet exercises. She outlines her goals in the exercises for individual students so the student can focus. She will say, for example, "Don't worry about your arms now. Reach with your feet. I love the way she gives us the proper name for the poses and the mental and physical benefits too.
