Introduction: Aside from the creativity and artistry of the designs, I make all of my cakes from scratch, and use only high quality, all natural ingredients. Being a cake artist combines my two loves: baking and art. I have been doing both all of my life, so being able to combine them is sheer bliss. I have also always loved party planning and entertaining, so I really enjoy working with my clients to come up with creative ideas for cakes that best compliment their particular event. Last, but not least, I like the fact that my cakes contribute to the celebration of happy and important events in peoples' lives.

Debbie Fischl created and delivered a cake for a baby shower. She baked it for 40 people, and asked for a copy of the invitation. She incorporated designs on the invite into the design and coloring of the cake. It was a masterpiece. She delivered the cake on the morning of the party and placed it on the centerpiece table. The job was in Brentwood, CA. Debbie went above and beyond using her fabulous baking skills for a delicious cake. I chose from a varied selection of flavors for cake, filling and frosting. In my case it was almond cake with chocolate whipped cream filling with fresh raspberries and a marzipan frosting lined with butter cream. FABULOUS. Her artistry and choice of vibrant colors and animal shapes and little umbrellas and the cake shape were truly unique and outstanding. Everyone loved it. She could not have improved anything- as it was perfect. She really knows what she is doing.

Debbie was WONDERFUL!!!! I gave her my color scheme and my general theme and she designed a beautiful cake! Not only that, it was delicious! She also made adorable mini cupcakes that everyone loved! I did not have any leftovers! I would recommend her and will use her again!

I have been fortunate enough to have seen and tasted many of Debbie's creations.... and not only are they works of art but they are delicious. My experience with Debbie includes birthday and wedding cakes which she customized according to the celebrant's life style and favorite flavors; she is very professional and goes above and beyond in her effort to satisfy her customers.....and I have never seen her fail to do so! Debbie made a cake for a baby shower with a lady bug theme. How often do you get a cake that not only looks great but also tastes like a slice of heaven. Debbie asked for pictures of the napkins, etc. She matched it exactly with color and style, and used her artistry to create a masterpiece. It was ready on time, better than expected, and became the centerpiece show stopper. i cannot imagine having a special occasion and not using Basket Cakes. Five stars is an understatement for the quality, taste, aesthetics, and service Debbie provided.

Debbie's wedding cake for my daughter's weeding was a visual and tasty feast. It had he perfect elegant yet casual look desired for the garden setting wedding and the cake itself was delicious.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
The pricing varies with the compexity of the design and, to some extent, on the flavors and ingredients used. Thus, while I have a minimum price per cake serving or cupcake, that is for a basic cake with simple or no special design elements. The price goes up for more elaborate designs because of additional time necessary to create them. Also, there is an added charge for cakes using more expensive ingredients like fresh fruit and marizipan, for example.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Yes, I am always taking decorating classes and keeping up on new techniques and the latest design ideas.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
The joy I get out of doing it, and the fact that I possess the necessary skills and talents.
