Francisco and his team are very good to work with. They made considerable updates and fixes to our roof where other roofers had messed up. Will work with them again.

Drake did a great job clearing weeds out of our yard, at a very fair price. He also helped us find an affordable mulch company and when we realized we couldn't transport the mulch alone, he came to help us out. It's amazing how much better our yard looks. We will absolutely hire him again.

I had Marlon install a concrete patio in my backyard, and extend the side walkway both length and width. The process was easy, affordable and quick. Marlon's bid was very reasonable and when was on time for the appointment. I would not hesitate to hire Marlon for other projects and would recommend his work. I love my new patio.

The roof looks great, and it was done for a pretty good price. Clean up could have been more thorough, as I found a ton of roofing material in the garage that needed cleaning up. Also, one of the roofer's nails punctured our AC line running through the attic. As far as I can tell this was a total accident, but Steve and his guys completely owned the error and paid all the charges for the HVAC company to make the repairs. Over all I'd recommend their services.

Troon restoration replaced the roof on my rental property this summer and did an excellent and timely job. Was especially pleased with how Darrin Azar kept in communication with me throughout the job. I had invited 4 different roofers to bid this difficult job. He was the only one who had the confidence and experience to do the work. The others weren't sure how to handle the insurance company but Darrin had no problem and convinced me that he was the right roofer for the job. Thanks troon and thanks Darren.

Brent with Ropa roofing came by to inspect my roof after I had noticed some leaking on my ceiling. I fully expected there to be roof damage causing the leaking and wanted to get quotes from different roofers in the area for replacement. First off, Brent was very professional and knowledgeable. I felt very comfortable with his ability to assess the condition of my roof, lend his expertise in working with my insurance company, and ultimately hiring him for the replacement of my roof. After inspecting my roof, Brent said that the roof is actually in decent condition and would not require replacement. This helped me to trust Brent even more knowing that many contractors will do anything they can just to get the contract. He helped me with some minor repair work and I haven't had a problem since. I know that when its time for me to replace my roof I have someone that I can trust will not only give me a fair price but will get the job done right. With so many crooked contractors out there, it is a breathe of fresh air knowing that I have a trustworthy roofer. Thanks Brent!

Had a leak around the chimney on the roof facing away from the sun... so as it snowed, snow would build there and not melt away and eventually a leak developed. Called up three roofers... first guy said "you need a new roof, $7500..." without even investigating where the leak was. Next guy, same BS... that's how I chose Roofcorp. Mike came out, spent nearly two hours with me answering all my questions... and from there I could tell he was honest, knowledgeable, and very dedicated to customer service. Needless to say it's hard to find good, reliable, quality honest work in today's world. Give these guys a shot everybody!

I just had my deck , patio slab, and sliding patio doors project done through Red Earth Construction. Family team of Jim, Jason, and Jim Sr. I would use them again. I'm very cautious of who I would use as I have terrible experiences working with contractors in the past, losing money and having uncompleted poor projects.. Each time I have learned what not to do, but having met Jim who I went through the process was great. You get a sense of trust and confidence working with him. I had a budget and I did get other quotes but they came in with the best quote including with the 2 patio doors (custom done through Sunrise). The deck and patio slab took a full week to get done, and sliding doors were put in after. All of their crews that did the specific projects did a beautiful job, I was most impressed with Jerry their window/door installer. They did and great job retro fitting the beautiful sliding patio doors with the blinds . Meticulous on housekeeping , and detail . I will go through Red Earth Construction again on different home projects that can do. The family are all great, professional and easy to work with.

Alex was very professional, efficient and trustworthy. He was very helpful with designing our complicated metal and wood fence and cared personally about the construction. He also took the time to price out the most affordable materials for our fence since we were on a tight budget. We loved that he was a perfectionist but somehow was very fast at the same time. I wouldn't hesitate to hire Alex again for any project.

I needed to have an urgent repair to some vents on the roof in order to close the sale of a house on time. Gary returned my phone call right away and was able to give me an estimate way ahead of anyone else. He provided different solutions at very reasonable prices. I feel like it is very hard to trust and rely on some roofers these days so it was a life saver to find Advanced Roofing Solutions. I will be using them for any future roof work.

The team at Mtn Trail Restoration we’re very professional through the entire process. This was a huge difference over other roofers that I’ve dealt with. Mtn Trail even followed up at the end with the insurance agent to make sure that I was fully satisfied with my roof. Thanks guys!!

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

Can a metal roof be installed over shingles?

Metal roofs are durable, environmentally friendly, safe and budget-friendly. If you’re considering an update, metal roofing installation doesn’t have to mean completely removing your old roof. In many cases, metal roofing can be installed over your existing shingles. Research building codes in your state, as many require that after two roofs have been installed, all roofing materials must be completely removed before a third roof can be put on. This protects your home’s structural integrity and your family’s safety. Carefully read contractor reviews and choose someone with extensive experience with metal roofing installation. One concern when installing metal over shingles is that over time, condensation can build on the shingles and cause the metal to rust. This will lead to rust around the panels, making them more likely to come loose in a storm. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000. The wide price range represents different roof sizes, different types of metal, and the cost of labor in different parts of the country — and can also include the cost of removing an old shingle roof prior to installing the metal. As a line item, the average cost of removing an old roof to prepare for installing a new roof, plus adding new roof decking, costs on average about $45-$75 per square (the pro roofer’s term for 100 square feet), depending on the pitch of the roof. Always make sure you have a clearly written contract and a warranty on both the labor and the metal.

What is a standing seam metal roof?

A standing seam metal roof may be a strong, durable, safe choice when you’re considering metal roofing installation options. A standing seam refers to the raised seam where the sheet metal roofing panels join. Traditionally, shingles and roof panels lie flush to the roof, making them more prone to rust or penetration by water at their seams. In a standing seam metal roof, the raised (or standing) seams run vertically from the roof ridge to the eaves, with no horizontal seams. In addition, the fasteners joining the metal panels together are concealed, providing even fewer opportunities for water or moisture to build up. The cost to install a standing seam metal roof will depend on the type of metal you select, the size of your roof, and the cost of roofing labor in your region. Materials will play a major role in your metal roofing installation costs. If you select standard galvanized steel, the cost per square (100 square feet) might be in the $150-$300 range, while a high-end choice such as copper or zinc could be between $1,000 and $1,500 per square. Here is one example of cost:

      • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
        • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.

How much does it cost for a metal roof?

Metal roofing installation is an attractive option thanks to metal’s long lifespan, hardiness and fire-retardant properties. Nationally, the average cost for metal roofing installation ranges from $6,000 to $20,000.There are different types of metal roofs, each with their own installation needs and materials costs. Roof size also affects your metal roofing installation costs, as do regional labor rates. Roof size is measured in squares; one square equals 100 square feet. Here are some examples of the average cost for a metal roof:

      • Standard metal roof: $120-$150 per square to start, including materials and labor
        • A 30-square roof (a 3,000-square-foot roof) could cost between $3,600 and $4,500 for a typical three-bedroom home.
      • Snap-Loc metal roof: $200-$225 per square to start, including materials and labor.
        • A 30-square roof could cost $6,000-$6,750.
      • Standing seam metal roof: $300 per square to start, including materials and labor.
        • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000 or more.
      • Tuff-Rib metal roof: $250-$350 per square to start, including materials and labor.
        • A 30-square roof could cost $7,500-$10,500.
      • Mid-range metal roof package, including all accessories: $300-$500 per square.
        • A 30-square roof could cost $9,000-$15,000.
      • High-end metal roof package — such as zinc or copper — and all accessories: $1,000-$1,500 per square.
        • A 30-square roof could cost $30,000-$45,000.
