GREAT VALUE

"Absolutely awesome. She's the ONLY massage therapist who's been able to work out the knots and sore spots in my back. I have worked outside all my life and have tough muscles and a high pain tolerance, so I needed someone who wasn't afraid to hurt me. I also have a fibromyalgia type disease that needs certain areas worked in certain ways and she knows her anatomy and where those muscles, tendons and sore spots are located for the best results. She's Amazing! <3"

"Every single time my wife has come home from a massage by Tayler, she has raved about how great it was and how good she feels. It was clear that Tayler would be her go-to therapist after her first session. I feel like I can give a good review, because when my wife ends up that happy I end up happy too."

"Jacob provided one of the best massage I've ever had and in all honesty I am pretty picky. I loved the combination of relieving stress and tension in the body and leaving feeling completely relaxed. He was especially helpful with my neck and upper back where I tend to hold most of my stress in my body. I look forward to seeing him again soon!"

"Adryanna provided an excellent deep tissue massage. She was very in tune to how much pressure I was comfortable with during the massage and was never too light. She also provided great feedback to areas I need to focus on and stretch more for preventative health going forward. I would highly recommend Adryanna to help with any deep tissue massage needs!"

"Had a great experience. Alex has a perfect level of pressure, at least for me it was, but he is very easy to work with and very open to adjusting hit technique to your body issues. I also really liked the fact that his massage seemed to have a very nice continuous flow as he worked through the massage, very relaxing but also really relaxed my muscles, really noticed it the next day as well. Thanks Alex."

"Eric does a terrific job!! I get a really deep massage which I like and need and I LOVE that he comes to my house!! After a massage, the last thing I want to do have to drive home. I am so relaxed and just want to drink a big glass of water and then maybe have a glass of wine. Give Eric try!!"

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is Thai massage?

Thai massage, also called Thai yoga massage, combines acupressure and assisted yoga postures. Thai massage is based on the flow of energy through the body and focuses on energy lines called “sen.” It doesn’t use oils or lotions and, instead of rubbing muscles, the massage therapist compresses, pulls, stretches and rocks the recipient’s body to promote the flow of energy through these sen. In this form of massage therapy, practitioners use their hands, knees, legs and feet to apply deep muscle compression and stretch the body. It’s often performed on a mat on the floor instead of on a massage table. Like most forms of massage, Thai massage is used to relieve stress, improve range of motion and enhance flexibility. Some people also use Thai massage to address a range of health issues, including:

  • Relieving tension headaches
  • Decreasing back pain
  • Reducing joint stiffness and pain
  • Stimulating circulation and lymphatic drainage
  • Boosting energy

Because a traditional Thai massage session covers all of the muscles in your body, it typically lasts 90 minutes to 120 minutes.

How much do you tip a massage therapist?

All forms of massage therapy, from Thai massage to Swedish massage to deep tissue massage, are similar to other spa or hospitality services. So it’s appropriate to tip a massage therapist the standard hospitality rate of 15 percent to 20 percent of the cost of the session. For example, the national average cost for a deep tissue massage is $70-$90, so expect to tip $12-$18. Of course, you can always tip more or less depending on your experience, especially if you’ve opted for extra services. For example, expect to tip more for a couple’s hot stone massage session that includes aromatherapy. Also, if you’re paying with a gift certificate or coupon, or purchasing a discounted multi-session package, make sure to calculate your tip based on the full price of the massage.
