Maggie did an outstanding job period. She did everything that I wanted in a surprise dinner for my girlfriend. From sneeking her into the house for the surprise, to cooking everything to perfection at my request. She was friendly to where my gf and I were able to have a romantic dinner and we were able to enjoy the conversations with one another. The evening was perfect and thanks to Maggie for such a memorible night!!

Thomas came to our house to give my 14-year old daughter and I a private cooking lesson. He brought all the ingredients and did a wonderful job showing us techniques and giving us information on organic vegetables and grass-fed meat. We will be booking him again soon to continue to encourage my daughter to learn how to cook healthy and efficient meals. Thank you, Thomas! We can't wait for our next lesson! ~Cathryn M.

Diane - I wanted to thank you for the July session that Brian attended - he talked non-stop about observations and lessons about cooking, team-work, and a full respect for the detail and order of recipes ! He cherished the bag of kitchen utensils, many of which he didn't have at his father's house. Brian's experience was all we hoped it to be and more ! Thank you! Thank you - April G.

My dad and I worked with Pam for a cooking lesson so that he could learn some basic kitchen skills and I could learn a little something as well. Pam was great! Not only did we get a lesson on some basic and easy dishes explained in a patient yet fun way (my dad has really never cooked before), but it was educational as well regarding nutrition and some healthier alternatives to common ingredients. She has changed some of my cooking patterns in just one session. We both learned a lot, had a super fun time and are looking forward to our next lesson. She has many excellent topics to choose from. I definitely recommend her without reservation!

Chef Kerry came and did a private cooking lesson for 2 of us. He was happy to help with knife skills, which I specifically requested, and came prepared with handouts and meal ideas that would allow us to practice. The food we cooked was great and lasted us a whole week!

Chef Tony was exactly what I was looking for!! I gave my adult son the gift of cooking lessons with Tony for Christmas. He crafted the lessons specifically to my sons request and in my son's new home. Now my son and his girlfriend feel confident as cooks as they start off in their new life together. Tony was personable, responsive, and an excellent instructor.

Had an amazing time with Jay. I have done a few cooking classes with him and have learned more in the few classes than I have in ten years! I enjoyed the fact that any dish I love to eat he would teach me to create. I have always been a simple cook at home, but he helped me learn what cooking really is! I highly suggest his service!

Kyndra did an amazing job on both the cupcakes and the cake she made for my daughter's first birthday. Both were super delicious as is everything I've ever had from The Fancy Peanut. And to top it off the design of the cake was better than anything I could have imagined. Fabulous job!!!!

I've used Stephanie's cooking services many times and each time I'm amazed by her creativity in the kitchen. She comes up with dishes that are simple yet bursting with flavor. She's also an amazing teacher. She's patient and always offers constructive feedback. My cooking skills have increased greatly all because of Stephanie. Before I could barley boil water and now I'm confident in cooking steak! I would highly recommend Chef Stephanie as a private chef and/or for cooking lessons.

My name is Celeste Sutton and I was born and raised in Broomfield, Colorado. I have always loved being in the kitchen, watching my grandmothers and my mom create amazing meals. My love for homemade comfort food came from them. As I grew I always enjoyed cooking colorful and flavorful food but never thought of doing it for a living. I use the freshest ingredients that I can find and pride myself on educating people so they feel confident and comfortable in the kitchen!

    About

Our two right feet is more than just dancing together, but also making memories and sparking magic! Making that event truly "a night that they'll never forget (or afternoon)!" Within 5 minutes, couples realize "wow, I can dance!" The guests at the wedding, anniversary, holiday, birthday, or any "rite of passage" celebration may bring a gift along, but the host will give them a gift they will keep forever. My services include music, logistical, and a plan for how the dance instruction will be integrated into each unique event. Often, the dance instruction is framed as "entertainment", then the instructor will seamlessly get the dancing started. The entertaining "first session" of instruction is 25 to 45 minutes in length. Each event is unique and the dance instruction component is planned to be exactly what the host imagines! All inclusive rate for events range from $120-$1,000+ depending on many factors such as location of event, number of guests, time and complexity of consultation services. Free 30-minute consultation with no obligation: Spend 30 minutes sharing your hopes, vision, concerns, etc. about your event. Then, I'll offer some ideas and take it from there. The instructor keeps things lively with fun activities (planned prior to the event) like "All nieces find an uncle. It doesn't have to be yours; any uncle. They'd do the dance activity together, then two minutes later, all uncles find your wife. If you don't have one, then find someone else's."

    About

I love to cook and make all of my meals from scratch. I have been told by so many friends that I need to open up my own restaurant. I am currently unemployed and seeking employment but have not had much luck. My background has been in corporate America in a management capacity for the past 20 years, but cooking is one of my greatest passions. I saw an advertisement on Thumbtack that someone was looking for someone to teach cooking lessons to an individual at their home. This sounds like a great opportunity! Thanks, Donna Moore

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much do private cooking lessons cost?

You can take private cooking classes to have fun, to learn a new skill, to improve your health, to bond with your partner, to enjoy a playful first date or to have a unique birthday party experience. Nationally the average cost of private cooking lessons ranges between $100 and $150. Prices can vary, depending on where you live, the type of cooking class you’re taking, the ingredients the chef provides, and the reputation of the chef. Cooking classes with Anthony Bourdain will clearly cost more than classes with a local restaurant owner. The number of people in the class will also affect the cost, with group lessons often priced per person to account for the cost of ingredients. For example, for group lessons, a brunch workshop may cost an average of $70 per person, a steak dinner with sides could cost an average of $80-$85 per person, and a sushi lesson could cost an average of $100 per person. Ingredients play a major role in cost, as the chef will pre-purchase the food you will be working with. Weekday classes will usually cost less than weekend classes.
