Rob was great. He was able to fit us in on a Sunday and was on-time and very personable. He quickly diagnosed the problem and provided us with a path towards getting it resolved. He also went above and beyond by showing me some easy, but overlooked washer and dryer maintenance that I could do on my own. I will definitely call Rob first the next time I have an appliance repair.

Juan and his team were not only on time but even a few minutes early for our big moving day. We had a LOT of furniture and boxes to move, and Juan and his team worked tirelessly the whole day--making what should have been a stressful day much less overwhelming and more enjoyable. His team was friendly and professional--they took great care of our belongings and our new home, while at the same time working quickly and efficiently. I highly recommend Juan and his team at Pro Movers LLC. I hope I don't have to move again for a really long time, but if I do, we'll definitely hire them again.

My washer ended up having a leaky valve. He installed and repaired the washing machine and dryer for less than the next quote to just install. ( including the cost of the valves) Highly recommended, trustworthy, very fair price.

The workers are polite and come promptly and work very hard. I hired them to do one job at first... to demolish a 14 X 18 foot wall of bricks/entertainment center in a new home that I purchased. My husband and I were very pleased and then re-hired the crew to do a dozen more things to renovate and update this home. Among the tasks they removed tile, removed a 3-way facing gas fireplace that was awkwardly placed, remove brick facing off some columns, move a few floor outlets, take out dated shower sliding doors and move chandeliers and some utility cabinets (so I'd have more space for my large washer/dryer). And more! This is an excellent company that I will continue to use for smaller projects. No one on the team even flinched when I changed my mind about things, they just go with the flow... and do what I ask like true professionals. Pricing on my original project was the best on thumbtack, and continues to be very fair.

Sam came out and I was very thankful he is a detail oriented person. He talked me through all the options and ways to vent my dryer properly, with the pros and cons of each. He suggested the most important considerations and let me ask questions. I felt no pressure, but very well informed to make a decision. They left the area they worked in cleaner than when they arrived. It turned out great! I would definitely hire him again!

Paul was great, had lots of patience in helping me find the problem with my whirlpool dryer that wasn't kicking out any heat. After telling him what the problem was he work my through every step and I was even able to call him back several times to make sure I had brought and ordered the right parts. He's a five star for sure and I will be using Paul my other appliance if I should have any problems with them. Again thank you Paul you were great!!!

I was stuck with no washer and got scammed by another appliance repair man and he came quickly to at least check it out and turned out fixing it. I should have ask how much he was charging before hand because I didn’t expect paying as much as I did but it was a reasonable amount just not what I assumed. I would recommend him to anyone. I for sure will be keeping him in my contacts for future reference.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does refrigerator repair cost?

Refrigerator repair generally costs a fraction of the price of a new fridge and shouldhave your appliance up and running again in no time. The problems your refrigerator is experiencing and the parts required to fix it will affect your repair costs. Where you live can affect labor rates, which will raise or lower your costs. Here are some examples of average costs:

    • Diagnostic fees: $50-$100. Repair pros often have a service call fee or diagnostic fee to account for their time traveling to your location with all their tools to assess the problem. If you choose to have them repair the fridge, most pros then credit this fee toward your repair cost.
    • Parts: $20-$500. A new compressor averages $200, an icemaker $300, and computerized components such as touch screens and control boards average $300 or more.
    • Basic repairs: $180-$400, including parts. This price range can include repairing the evaporator or fan motor.

    How long do fridges last?

Refrigerators can last 10 to 20 years, although the most common lifespan is about 13 years. If your fridge is acting up, consider its current age when deciding whether to invest in repairs or buy a new one. Common easy fixes include faulty thermostats, dirty coils and clogged drain lines. Thermostats and dirty coils can be generally be fixed for an average cost of $80-$100. Clogged drain lines, which usually cause leaks, can often be fixed for under $200.

More complex refrigeration repairs such as replacing a bad compressor or replenishing low refrigerant can cost more because of expensive parts and higher labor. A new compressor costs an average of $200, not including labor. If labor is an average of $75-$100 per hour, and the repair takes 3 hours, you’re looking at roughly $500. Consider the age and purchase cost of your fridge; investing $350 in a $600 fridge that is 8 years old may not be cost-effective.
