Introduction: Learn the songs of your choice. Learn theory the easy, organic way. Learn to improvise. Learn proper technique to get the most out of your playing. Brad Murphey is an officially sponsored artist for ELIXIR Guitar Strings and award winning music teacher at Harmony House in Boulder and previously a faculty member of the Boulder Arts Academy, at the Dairy Center for the Arts. Teaching students ranging from 6 to 86 years old and has performed nationally (and locally... If you are starting out I'll provide a solid foundation and if you're already playing I can help you move to a higher level of musicianship. The guitar lessons are informal, enjoyable and designed to help you make rapid progress on the guitar. I take a practical approach that is designed to get you ready to play guitar with other musicians. I encourage all my students to find enjoyable playing situations as soon as possible. Brad is a fantastic teacher and sincere person. He was always prompt and great at listening, observing and communicating during lessons. He makes learning fun. I was looking for a teacher who could provide encouragement and also work with a novice adult learner. I met Brad through Harmony House. We had several lessons but I had to stop due to an injury. I will definitely take more lessons from Brad in the future. I highly recommend Brad as a guitar teacher!

Murph is a fantastic teacher. I started taking bluegrass guitar lessons with him a year ago, after years of playing guitar very badly (only basic chords, strumming patterns, and Travis picking - all without a pick). In just a year, Murph has transformed me into a flatpicker. Under his direction, I've learned to crosspick, play scales and licks, learn solos by ear, and create interesting rhythm patterns both for traditional fiddle and newgrass tunes - all with a pick! Amazing. Plus, he's easy-going and very, very patient. I highly, highly recommend Murph as a guitar teacher!
