FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I ask for $20 for our first one-hour meeting. Once we agree to continue classes together, I charge $35 for up to an hour and a quarter (75 minutes) at my home in North Boulder or a coffee shop in Boulder; $40 in east Boulder County /Broomfield; in metro Denver, $50. The reason I do my sessions for up to 75 minutes is that it provides for a richer experience, as the "extra" 15 minutes always time to arrive, settle in and chat so we can have one strong hour of study. It also allows for time at the end to check in about our goals and progress.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I'll discuss what your primary and secondary goals are. I will introduce my multi-dimensional, immersive approach and we'll discuss how I'd tailor it to you. I'd start out with some basic skills evaluation and we'd set up a basic plan as to where you want to be in four months, to start. We'd commit to have some fun and get started!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I coordinate and co-teach the Conversations in Spanish group at the Boulder Public Library (meet Friday afternoons 4-5:30 pm). I have lived and traveled several summers in Mexico; worked as a life skills counselor at a group home for Cuban refugees for two years; my undergraduate degree is in Spanish and Latin American Studies; I was a teachers' aide in Boulder Valley Public Schools translating for elementary school students; I lived 3 years in Santiago, Chile.
