We have two strong, high energy dogs (ACD / GSD Mix, and a Pit Terrier mix). After an altercation with another dog where my wife was pulled over, and realizing that walking the dogs was the worst part of my day, we decided to do something about it. I've always be skeptical of dog trainers that teach 'positive reinforcement only', and fortunately that is not what Eric does. Eric trained us to both lead our dogs, and how to make them follow us. Our dogs are more relaxed out on walks, and walking them is now one of my favorite things to do. Our dogs are now significantly less leash aggressive. Previously an encounter with another dog during a walk was a disaster: avoid at all costs. We now know how to approach the situation, and how to react regardless of the outcome. Essentially we went from World War Dog to No Big Deal when encountering another dog. No pulling, barking or lunging. Eric took the time to help us; we never felt rushed.
My dog Lilly and I started in September with Dion. Each class was a learning experience. I am very pleased to say Lilly (golden-doodle) is a well mannered dog on leash and when people come over. Its a commitment for you and the dog. Real time training (park setting) is great as you and the dog experience the squirrels, other dogs, people and the every day sounds. As the issue of either the owner or the dog or both (LOL) arose Dion would correct you/dog. Dion is very accommodating. I reviewed all the dog trainers I could find. And am So pleased to have been able to choose the Right trainer for us. We can walk without issue. When Lilly wants to act up I (the leader) now know what I need to do. Thanks Dion for your dedication to better living of dog and human.
Better manners dog trainer contacted me immediately and gave me a lot of information on his services and why he thinks they're are value. I will probably hire him to train my dog I'm just working out a time frame
We highly recommend Beth and Wayne for your all dog training needs. Together they are a great team and both are very knowledgeable, helpful, responsive, fun to learn from, reliable, and their true goal is to help you and your pet enjoy each other through love, bonding, and teaching your dog good manners.
Chris helped us work with our 3 year old Australian Shepherd who we felt had become aggressive and unmanageable after being attacked by another dog. Our dog had previously been through 3 other training programs with other trainers that did not seem to be as effective as we needed them to be. Chris is a thoughtful and dedicated trainer. He does not sugar coat things and make unrealistic promises. While working with our misbehaving pooch, he explained that without our dedication to correct bad behavior, the dog would not succeed. Training a dog is not something you do for awhile, it's a forever process, and Chris helped us understand that and be successful. He used smart techniques and explained what our behavior was relaying to our dog. He helped us take control of tough situations and also helped us understand why some situations would continue to be challenging, but would get better. Ultimately, Chris cares deeply for the dogs he works with, and it comes though in all of his interactions. We loved the time we were able to spend working with Chris and would recommend him to anyone interested in a quality 1:1 experience.
Joey Baker has the experience to develop a dog to its full potential. His love of dogs and training he always demonstrates.I recommend him highly
Only two personal lessons in and my dog who use to run off can now work off leash with distractions. Adam is an awesome trainer. We were about to take our dog to the pound because of all the running off but now she is happy and calm and has great doggie msnnerd
Sean is an excellent dog trainer and all-around great guy. His knowledge, professionalism, training techniques and dedication to dogs is top notch! (And Daisy dog absolutely adores him.)
I met Alex Canby the second week I moved to Boulder. We immediately connected when I showed him the picture of Gus, my Great Dane (I have to show everybody his picture). Alex then told me he was a therapy and behavioral dog trainer. I was immediately interested in hearing more as I have always wanted Gus to be a therapy dog, but, more importantly, Gus hadn’t made the move yet, and I was concerned how he would adjust. Alex offered me his contact information in case Gus had any issues adjusting. I am a student at CU Boulder and was heading out for my first day of classes. Gus was nervous in his new environment, and being a Great Dane, he was able to convince me with his size to miss all of my classes and stay with him. Gus literally held on to me as I tried to leave. When I finally left, he tried jumping through the window and attempted breaking through the door of my apartment. I had no choice but to email my professors and say I would not be attending class. For the rest of the week, I took Gus to daycare, but the costs were adding up. I contacted Alex, who offered me some great tips on how to make Gus more comfortable. I was surprised to see how quickly I saw results. I even told Alex he should charge more based on the quick and effective results. It was certainly less expensive than daycare, and Gus was actually learning to be a better dog. Since then, I have stayed in contact with Alex for Gus's random behavioral issues. Alex always has an answer and helps me correct the issues right away. In addition, as time permits, I have anticipations to work with Alex to pursue Gus as a therapy dog. I have already recommended him to many and will continue to do so. Emily Morrison Boulder, CO
Bill is a great trainer with lots of experience. He is very knowledgable and has a lot of patience with the handler and the dog.
Jane Skarka has been my neighbor for many years during which she has cared for and rescued numerous animals. Caring for dogs and cats is the central passion of her life. My need for pet care emerged during the past year and I never even considered anyone other than Jane. She is loving, trustworthy and reliable. My standard poodle, Kobey, goes berserk with joy when she comes to get him for trips to the dog park or day care. (I'm a bit jealous.) Jane has managed to transform Kobey from a cat chaser to a cat lover and gives me great advice on pet care and training tips. She is much more to my dog than a petsitter, I consider her to be his "goddess mother" and wholeheartedly endorse her services.
Matt was a great trainer. Our dog is now 100% off leash capable! Matt has done wonders! He also came to us and trained our dog in her enviroment. Matt exceeded all of our expectations!
Andi is not only a great trainer but she goes above and beyond to help clients and their dogs. I really appreciated the thought she put into every class, taking into consideration the individual needs of each dog. She was terrific at answering questions and working through sticking points that came up along the way. She even sent a detailed summary after each session with extra tips and advice on how to keep improving in between sessions - way beyond what I expected from this course. It's clear that Andi really cares about helping people bond with their dogs. Not only is Jenkins much better behaved but we had so much fun together!
Helena was an amazing dog trainer both for our rescue dog Woodrow, and for us. Her training was multi-faceted in that she trained us as much as she trained our dog. Woodrow is a rescue, and we called Helena after he developed a rather nasty biting habit. We were desperate to get help immediately, and unlike other companies in the area, Helena called us back immediately, and like us, took the issue of our aggressive dog very seriously. When other companies believed that it was "just a phase" or that a muzzle or a shock collar would be the best course of action, Helena respectfully disagreed. She proved that aggressive dogs can and will respond well to positive reinforcement and behavior modification through intense but rewarding training techniques. When we "interviewed" Helena, she met us at our house for a 90-minute consultation. She provided us with printed handouts on aggression as well as some initial training techniques to begin. We decided to go with her, which was a life-changing decision for our dog; Woodrow has improved drastically since Helena has worked with him. When we first had Woodrow, he could not be within 20 feet of a stranger without barking or growling, and now, his "bubble" has been greatly reduced. During our 8-weeks with Helena, we worked on a doorbell training routine, practiced how to be around other dogs on walks, learned what to do if a stranger approaches us on a walk, how to manage off-leash dogs, and even how to navigate when someone hugs me (he is protective, too!). She came to our house/nearby park always, which was so important as my husband and I both work full time. She was flexible with our schedules and made herself available based on our availability. Finally, her rates are very manageable and fair. It's easy to see that Helena is not concerned with gouging our paychecks for her noteworthy service--she simply wants to see dogs improve. It's refreshing! With Helena you get a true professional who will put your dog at the forefront of her practice. Without Helena, we were ready to give up on our sweet boy, but now, we have renewed hope that he can he rehabilitated for good. Thanks Helena and Training House Calls for being exactly what we needed to save our dog. Best decision ever :)
My Aussie is a happy, healthy eight year old, but he was always really difficult to take for a walk. He just didn't respond to the leash, no matter the collar or the trainer, and I'd tried several of each. I would come home from what should have been a pleasant walk in tears. Then I found Rick. Now long walks with Rolly are a blessing for us both, and his obedience training has made living with my active guy much easier and more fun. I am sooooo grateful. I've also watched Rick with other dogs. He is a master of his craft. Big, little, tough or timid, he knows how to help them and how to help you, so your bond and time together become more fun and rewarding.
Victoria with Furever Behavior Dog Training is a wonderful trainer. Our dog was a rescue who had lived on the streets and he had many issues. Our dog guarded his food and toys, did not know basic obedience or manners, was not housebroken, did not know to come when called, did not know how to walk on a leash without pulling my arm off, did not know about or like his crate and more. After working with Victoria, we learned how to give our dog the cues he needed to get the behaviors we all wanted. He quickly learned to love his crate as his safe and special place, housebreaking was rapid and our dog learned to trust us. Victoria gave us the tools and skills we needed to be good dog owners and our dog responded positively and swiftly to Victoria's techniques. And, speaking of positive, Victoria only uses positive training methods -- no punishment. And our dog loved, loved, loved Victoria. Well done!
Working with Ethan from Wagging pawsabilities was a delight. He helped me to understand the things I needed to do as a daddy to my pooch so that my dog Bazil would trust me. She was a rescue and had issues with not trusting I knew what's best for her. She jumped up on people, chewed up toys and peed in the house to mark...it has only been a few weeks and all of those things are getting better! I am defiantly looking forward to Ethan teaching me more! If you are looking for a dog trainer who cares about your pet deeply, who genuinely loves his job and who is a great teacher Wagging Pawsabilities is the place to call!
As mention previously I have worked in or at least study most of the fields related to the pet industry. This gives me a unique outlook on the overall care your pet should receive.

I love dogs and helping people. These are my top two favorite things in a part-time hobby. Sign me up! I've never lived in a house without at least three dogs, sometimes as high as six or seven. So, there isn't much that I can't handle. Why I want to sit? I work for myself from home. I have loads of time on my hands, and I already take care of my dogs. They love it when we have company! Whether I come to your place or they come to mine, your dogs will get the best of care and attention. I may even do some training with them!
