FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Most of my work is so specifically tailored to each client, that I do not price my work by the hour. What I do is get as much info as possible from my clients, get a clearly defined scope of work and give them a labor price for the project. If I am asked to supply materials and other items to complete the job, my customers will pay my cost. I have never up charged or added a percentage to these items. In fact I always look to save my customers money, and even pass vendors discounts to them.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Well each new customer is different. Maybe by how they found me, either thru Thumbtack, referral of a previous client of mine, or off my advertising, yard sign or signage on my truck. Most times, I would try and ask some basic questions of the homeowners about their project, and answer any questions they have of me. We would schedule a good time for us to meet and discuss the project. Go over in detail the scope of work and start to work on a written proposal. We will discuss budget, time to schedule the project start date, and completion dates. I like to spend a good amount of time with all my clients, making sure nothing is missed. At this time I can also show them some pictures of completed work, and put them in touch with some previous clients.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Well, I have been a contractor since I was 27 years old. I just turned 59.....so that's 32 years. I owned a large landscape firm in NJ for almost 13 years. During those 13 years, we worked in senior living communities, and cut up to 2300 lawns per week, as well as irrigation and landscape installation and maintenance. During the last 5-6 years we started doing exterior maintenance of the homes, painting, decks, carpentry etc. The last 5 years I started a land clearing and excavation business with two partners in NJ. I owned a vacation home, up near Vail, since 1989. And I sold my business interests and moved here for good in 1996. We operated a high end painting business in the Vail area......Vail Valley Decorative and General Painting. We worked for many homeowners and large design firms. During that time I also added home remodel work. I now live in Broomfield, I a home I have owned since 2008. I have a new life down here, remarried for the past two years, and starting to build my Home Remodel business in a new location. I took many hours, days and weeks of formal training in furniture and cabinet refinishing, and in Italian plaster, and all forms of decorative and faux finishing techniques. After 32 years, wearing many different hats, I have learned and accomplished so much in all these trades. You get a lot of experience when you hire me.
