I hired A/R Investment Construction to remodel my master bath. It turned out wonderfully. Thereafter, I hired them for several other projects including my kitchen and several drywall projects. They do everything from electrical to plumbing, painting, plaster and drywall. Very happy to have met them.

Tim did a great job painting the interior of our new home. He took great care to get the job done right, keep his job site clean and respect our home. Tim was very personable and a joy to chat with while I was working around the house at the same time. Additionally, he helped me when I had electrical questions as I was hanging light fixtures. Tim could have done all the electrical work but it was very generous of him to teach me how to do it since I wanted to learn a few simple tasks. I would highly recommend Tim for any construction/electrical/painting work either residential or commercial.

Quick, easy, first person to respond with lots of good reviews. Good money spent for the repair, powerwash, and painting of my 2 decks. Will use again, I manage 170 properties for other owners, and is on my approved vendor lists now. I would recommend him to anyone who would like deck repairs and will continue to get bids on other types of work to test his experience.

This is a house renovation, we are on a tight budget. Vicky worked really hard to give us the best deal possible. The crew that did the roof were very friendly and worked really hard to complete the job on time. It looks wonderful! We would encourage anyone to hire this roofing company.

If you want to hire a responsible and professional company to paint your house, you need to contact Luis and Rachel at Fast Efficency Painting. This couple did an outstanding job in my 2,000 sqft. house. They transformed the exterior of my house. Helped us get the right color and provide their experts advise. Nate and his crew did a very nice job on our Town Home in a very short scheduled time frame. He went above and beyond his normal painting prep, prime and painting tasks due to an enormous amount of tenant related damages that he agreed to correct prior to painting. We knew there were damaged doors, trim, mismatched baseboard some missing some not stained the same and all damaged and or missing blinds, mismatching outlet covers and switch plate covers, etc. that he had to either replace, repair, stain refinish, etc. to even begin his normal paint job. In order to cover some really deep purple and darker blue walls and some not "neutral" colors he had to apply extra heavy primer. He found numerous "spackling spots" thru out the home that turned out to not be spackling but some other unidentifiable plastic hard-like material that required numerous hours of sanding and re-texturing in order to restore the walls back to their original move-in condition again before the normal painting could even start. He took on this project even pushed back another big job to meet our deadline and was always responsive to every call and email message we had. He sent us before and after pictures of the job. We were able to identify a couple items that were inadvertently overlooked. Nate reviewed his estimate/proposal details and agreed he must have missed those few things and took care of them the very next day with no hesitation and a full acknowledgement as most professional companies would be expected to do. He is very good and quite professional in his business actions. Very ethical! Nice to be able to deal with the man in charge who can get the job done right and done in an excellent manner. I would not hesitate to refer anyone in need of professional painting services to Nate's N Side Out Painting, LLC Company.

Details, details, details. We're sticklers for them and Reese is too. From super-clean edges on ceilings and baseboards to meticulous organization and daily clean-up, we were thoroughly impressed with the entire process. Not only was the work exceptional but we were able to discuss color ideas, accent wall suggestions and other interior choices with an expert willing to share his years of experience. From elegant warm gray through the majority of the house to a bright, playful palette to match our son's Nerf gun collection, every room now has the personality we were hoping for. We felt like we received a great value for our investment and are happy to walk into a house that finally feels like home! We've already been referring RH painting to our friends and neighbors. So go ahead and hire Reese – you won't be disappointed.

The painting project I had done was completed in a quick and efficient manner. The knowledge Stephen holds added great value and integrity. All of my questions were answered (there were A LOT) and the work was up to my standards (which is quite HIGH). I enjoyed working with him and plan on using him again to finish the rest of my house.

This is one of the most professional and efficient companies that I refer business to. As a very busy Realtor in the area I need to know that I can count on my vendors to be fair and honest with my clients. Mark and Five Star Painting is that company. They show up on time, complete the work as promised, and are by far the most precise painters I have ever used. I refer all of my clients to Mark and Five Star Painting.

A team was able to show up at my house, and they did provide quality workmanship, their customer service was great. It didn't take to long for them to have a plan and were very accurate regarding the construction and what the insurance would cover.

I hired Allen home repair to inspect a sketchy looking breaker box on a home recently purchased. He was very thorough with his assessment and explained everything to put my mind to rest. I will be using him again as I continue to renovate the house and outbuilding.

I had a great experience working with Frank on a recent painting project. We had just bought a house and budget was tight, but Frank worked with us on the cost and provided practical advice. Since we weren't able to be at the house to let him in, I simply gave him a key so he could come and go freely during the project period, even when we were not around, which sped up the delivery. This level of trust between a customer and a contractor is important to me. Everything was done to satisfaction and I plan to do many more projects with Frank in coming months.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much do painters cost?

The national average cost for an interior painter ranges between $450 and $900. Interior painters can tackle everything from complete color makeovers in each of your rooms to touching up an accent wall to painting pieces of furniture. The square footage and complexity of the project, along with the materials needed, are the main factors that will affect cost. Other factors include whether you supply the paint yourself or want the painter to do so, whether you move the furniture and do the prep work or ask them to do it, and whether any repair work is needed on the walls. Painting the ceiling and the trim will also have an effect on cost. The type of paint you choose can also raise or lower your house painting cost. A gallon of paint may range from $20 to over $100, depending on quality and brand. Ask your painter if they charge per hour or per square foot, and how much you can save by doing prep work (moving furniture, etc.) yourself.

How much does it cost to paint the interior of a house?

Interior house painting costs are calculated on a few key factors. Nationally, interior house painting projects range from $200 to $2,500. The wide price range indicates how much square footage, paint selection and labor can affect cost. One pro uses a laser to measure each room, subtracting the size of the doors and windows, and then bases the quote on the square footage of the actual surfaces to be painted. Painters may provide you with savings if you opt to paint your entire home rather than just having one room or an accent wall painted. For example, the average house painting cost for an 8x12 room with 8-foot ceilings is roughly $200, when contractor-grade paint is used. Painting ceilings, baseboards and frames can also affect cost. Pros may charge per linear foot to smooth and paint baseboards. In one area pros might charge 50 cents per linear foot to paint baseboards, while pros in another part of the country could charge $1.50 per linear foot for the same task. Painters may charge flat rates for painting door and window frames, with one charging $20-$25 and another $60 per door. Geography and regional costs to do business play a major role in the cost of interior painting. The same painter in a rural region has less to pay in taxes, transportation, insurance and overhead than they would in a major city like New York.

How much does a painter charge per room?

The cost to paint a room will vary based on the size of the room, the type of paint you select, any ceiling or trim work needed, and any repairs needed. If no repairs or other additional work is needed, painting a room with contractor-grade paint could range from $1 to $2 per square foot, including materials. Selecting a luxury paint (some cost more than $100 per gallon) will certainly increase your house painting costs. Here are some additional examples of average house painting costs, per room:

  • 12x12 room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 12x12 room with an 8-foot ceiling: about $100
  • 14x16 master bedroom with a 9-foot ceiling: about $150
  • 14x16 master bedroom with an 8-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 16x16 living room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $175
  • 16x16 living room with a 20-foot ceiling: starting at $225
