Hired on Thumbtack

Hired on Thumbtack

We hired Sweet Willy's for our wedding reception in Greeley. In fairness, when we initially hired Sweet Willy's the family run business comes across great. We had a pile of delicious samples to eat. It was after our deposit was received, things went down hill. Calls & emails were unreturned; until I finally tracked Shannon, the head of S.W.'s down by leaving a desperate message stating how important our day was and to please after 6+ weeks of calling, could we talk? Should have fired her then, but we wanted to believe that it would be worth it for good food. On the day of our wedding, the weather turned to rain sleet & snow. Thus, our timing of the ceremony changed by not being outside. To top it off S.W.'s was late in showing up for the event, completely stressing out the groom. From there, Shannon of S.W.'s proceeded to melt down that our ceremony was to fast & they were not ready to go. Turns out nothing was prepped. In addition Shannon yelled at me, the bride, in front of guests in regards to their lack of prepration. I stayed calm & encouraged her & staff to please start cooking. Some guests had to leave, but many waited it out. The appeitzers were not complex, cheese and crackers, fruit skewers, but per Shannon, this could not be prepped because "We are 2 hours away.". The food did come out, eventually, and was good, except for the quiche being very cold. The lack of professionalism was outrageous. Shannon of S.W's blamed everybody but herself regarding her lack of having a plan. Shannon blamed the managers at the venue, me, and my family. All professionals should have a Plan B, especially noting the drastic weather. To top it off, they did not give us all our left overs and tried to further stress me out by announcing the cake was late, which it was not, and really was not their concern. Tried to call Ms. Shannon of S.W.'s to discuss her severe lack of professionalism, & was subjected to Shannon blaming me, for all the ;problems and she ended the conversation by saying "F*** O**.". Funny enough, in her VM announcement, which I go to hear over & over due to her lack of returning calls says "G-d Bless.'. So BEWARE of Sweet Willy's-good food, lousy and outrageously unprofessional delivery.
Sweet Willy's Catering's reply
As the Owner, I am saddened by Couples who blame there Caterrr for things that are out of our control, not in way the issue of the staff and are completely inappropriotly handled by the couple. As far as the food, ee cane as prepped as any caterer and ready to serve at the times given by the Bride herself. A wedding that lasts 6 mins instead of 50 and famikynthat blamed us for not being ready, as well as attacking ou r staff and drinking in excess w no control iver themsekves or their family is NOT the blame of the caterer. The Appetizers were cooked and timed perfectly to the times we were given and prepared for. All we got from the Bride was, Oh well, do the best you can and had another glass of wine. The guests left, not bwcause there was no food, but because pictures lasted hours and they were basically ignored. My Assistant was concerned that the cake wasnt there because every event we do, the cake should be delivered and set up prior to anything starting, not 1/2 way through dinner. So I apologize for trying to ensure it was fine, but it just shows more lack of planning by the Bride and Groom. Responsability falls on everyone for an event. Leftovers shouldnt be left at all by a caterer, but we boxed them up anyway. The only thing not left behind was unused ingredients. I very rarely respond to comments like this, because they are so very rare...2 in 15 years, but I felt this was unacceptable and needed defending. Rebecca, I am sorry that your day was apparently not up to your mediocre standards, but accepting the blame for the behavior of your family and yourself needs to come first before you bash my business and try to slander my business. P.S. The Veggie Quiche is ALWAYS served at room temp. Thanks for the 2 stars.
