The contractor correctly diagnosed that the reason my gutters were leaking is the drip edge was on the top of the underlayment and the underlayment needed to be on top of the drip edge. He was honest and told me the underlayment needed to be fixed all the way around the roof and he didn't have time that day so he charged me a reduced rate for just doing the inspection. I contacted my roofing company and they sent someone out to fix it at no cost to me so I was very happy to benefit from the contractors expertise! The contractor was late to our appointment though otherwise I would have given him 5 stars.

We could not have been more pleased with Forest and the entire crew from Beyond Boundaries. When I initially started thinking about our bathroom remodel in the fall, the hardest part was finding a contractor who seemed interested in taking on such a small project (Denver contractors are busy these days!). Thankfully, thumbtack helped connect me with Beyond Boundaries. From the beginning, Forest made us feel like our project was important. He and his crew paid great attention to detail, were highly communicative, and took pride in their work. From Noe (who did the tile work), to the painter, electrician, glass door installer and plumbers, everyone was friendly, hard working, and went above and beyond. We couldn't be happier with the result. We will definitely be using Beyond Boundaries on all future home projects! Thanks to Forest and the team!

Very impressed with the speed and efficiency of this team for my house painting project. They didn't try to oversell me and the price was very fair. I plan to hire them again in the future for another project.

Uriel and his crew helped us with several painting projects around our home. We were incredibly pleased with their work. Uriel, Juan, and Renee worked efficiently and thoroughly, completing multiple projects in the same day. Their work is high quality in nature and looks great! They went above and beyond in several aspects, no questions asked. Further, they didn't leave a mess! If we weren't moving, I would hire Uriel again in the future.

I needed a condo painted quickly before new tenants arrived and Nabil was quick to respond and get the work done. He was very affordable for the work performed. He even painted a built in book shelf that I was not expecting to be done. And he was able to cover up poor painting jobs from previous tenants hitting the ceilings in the corners. Great job! I would highly recommend.

Gabriel, AJ, and Solomon were actually early to the job; they had the front and back yards trimmed and cleaned up within 4 hours! They were all knowledgeable in various areas of horticulture, desert plants, and landscaping. It is a plus they also do interior/exterior painting and handyman jobs. We were quite satisfied with their work and will be looking forward to using them in the future.

We hired Wallace Pro Paints to repaint our master bedroom, as well as our entire finished basement. Marvin and his team were personable, punctual, meticulous, and overall did a fantastic job. We chose the colors, and they applied them beautifully, coming back about a week later to finish the job with touch-ups. They worked easily around other contractors doing other work at our house, and even touched-up some of these others' work when they would not do it themselves. We are very glad we hired Wallace Pro Paints, and will likely hire them again when we need more painting done in the future.

Mr. Jerry Secrest was a miracle for my project. I had a contractor previously hang some paintings and mirrors for my client, and they made several nail holes in hanging one particular item. In repairing and re-texturing the nail holes, the contractor messed up my client's wall. I, then, hired another contractor to repair the mistakes incurred by the previous contractor, but the contractor called me an hour before the scheduled appointment and needed to reschedule the appointment for another day. My client needed the repairs done that day, so I could not reschedule. I called Jerry and he was able to come that day. When Jerry came, he was very professional and kind in his approach. He made certain to bring blankets to cover my client's floor. He explained everything that he was doing to cover up the mistakes of the previous contractor, and repaint the wall. He meticulously patched, textured over existing repairs. He worked diligently the entire time that he was at my client's home. His work quality is superb- he practically gave my client a brand new perfect wall. He was punctual; I appreciated that he came at the same exact time that he communicated he will come.

Scott was responsive. At first, he could not come because of an emergency. He apologized for that. Then, he was willing to meet me at the house at 7:50 in the morning. He was there on time, which is kind of rare for contractors (my experience as a landlord for 25 years plus). He did his job properly. Good Quality! Rudi Hartmann

I'm 62 years old and this has by far been my most satisfying experience with a construction contractor!! I can without hesitation give Roundtable Construction LLC my very highest recommendation. The original job was drywall work and painting; I've already re-hired for work on my deck and kitchen cabinets. True pros!! I'm a very, very happy customer!!

Eugene is great to work with and he does an amazing job! After speaking with several painters/contractors I decided to hire Eugene to paint my town home with vaulted ceilings. Not only did he offer the most competitive price, but he had the best communication, and truly cared about the job being done correctly. I will be hiring him again for future painting projects and you should too!!

We've used Helix Painting now for several painting projects. After a great experience having them paint the exterior of a rental property, we had them paint the interior as well. About a year later, we had them paint the interior of our own home.  The painting crews have all been extremely respectful and hard-working. The projects were done quickly and cleanly and any issues I noticed were quickly corrected. It has been great working with a company that is true to its word and values its customers.

Patina Build is the BEST!!! I had a small job that other contractors were not even interested in my project. David and Ian have huge respect for people's homes. It has been hard to find someone who has a high level of craftsmanship and appreciation for detail. They had it all! I would use them a million more times!

Andrew has worked on two jobs for me, one with a painting company that did the interior of my house and the other as a private drywall repair. He was excellent in both circumstances: skilled, excellent work, professional attitude, and personally friendly. He is without a doubt the first person I will turn to when I need help again.

Michael did an excellent job with our project. This involved interior painting, including trim work as well as removal of two bathroom mirrors and subsequent drywall repair. Michael is meticulous and everything looks fabulous. It was a pleasure to work with him. I would definitely hire him again and refer him to friends and family.

Daniel came into a tough situation on this job. The GC's Scheduling on this project was all over the place and nothing went the way it was supposed to go. We were told to be done with our scope of work by Friday at 4 p.m. (painting) yet the home owner still had someone in the basement cutting material for their finish carpentry work. Dust was everywhere and the homeowner essentially prevented us from meeting their imposed deadline. Although we couldn't finish, Daniel and his crew showed up and did the absolute best they could considering the circumstances we were in. Even though the homeowner refused to pay us due to the incompletion of the job, I came out of pocket to take care of Daniel and His crew. As a contractor I felt that Daniel was very professional, courteous, and did a good job for what he accomplished. I will definitely be calling Daniel in the future for more work.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much do painters cost?

The national average cost for an interior painter ranges between $450 and $900. Interior painters can tackle everything from complete color makeovers in each of your rooms to touching up an accent wall to painting pieces of furniture. The square footage and complexity of the project, along with the materials needed, are the main factors that will affect cost. Other factors include whether you supply the paint yourself or want the painter to do so, whether you move the furniture and do the prep work or ask them to do it, and whether any repair work is needed on the walls. Painting the ceiling and the trim will also have an effect on cost. The type of paint you choose can also raise or lower your house painting cost. A gallon of paint may range from $20 to over $100, depending on quality and brand. Ask your painter if they charge per hour or per square foot, and how much you can save by doing prep work (moving furniture, etc.) yourself.

How much does it cost to paint the interior of a house?

Interior house painting costs are calculated on a few key factors. Nationally, interior house painting projects range from $200 to $2,500. The wide price range indicates how much square footage, paint selection and labor can affect cost. One pro uses a laser to measure each room, subtracting the size of the doors and windows, and then bases the quote on the square footage of the actual surfaces to be painted. Painters may provide you with savings if you opt to paint your entire home rather than just having one room or an accent wall painted. For example, the average house painting cost for an 8x12 room with 8-foot ceilings is roughly $200, when contractor-grade paint is used. Painting ceilings, baseboards and frames can also affect cost. Pros may charge per linear foot to smooth and paint baseboards. In one area pros might charge 50 cents per linear foot to paint baseboards, while pros in another part of the country could charge $1.50 per linear foot for the same task. Painters may charge flat rates for painting door and window frames, with one charging $20-$25 and another $60 per door. Geography and regional costs to do business play a major role in the cost of interior painting. The same painter in a rural region has less to pay in taxes, transportation, insurance and overhead than they would in a major city like New York.

How much does a painter charge per room?

The cost to paint a room will vary based on the size of the room, the type of paint you select, any ceiling or trim work needed, and any repairs needed. If no repairs or other additional work is needed, painting a room with contractor-grade paint could range from $1 to $2 per square foot, including materials. Selecting a luxury paint (some cost more than $100 per gallon) will certainly increase your house painting costs. Here are some additional examples of average house painting costs, per room:

  • 12x12 room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 12x12 room with an 8-foot ceiling: about $100
  • 14x16 master bedroom with a 9-foot ceiling: about $150
  • 14x16 master bedroom with an 8-foot ceiling: about $125
  • 16x16 living room with a 9-foot ceiling: about $175
  • 16x16 living room with a 20-foot ceiling: starting at $225
