FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
It's not complicated, I call it flexible. I charge an hourly fee for the time I spend meeting with the host/hostess of the event and my actual time at the event. It is up to the host/hostess how they'd prefer to deal with a gratuity. They can choose to provide a gratuity at the end so no tips have to be rendered by their guests. No certain amount is ever expected, I leave that up to the host/hostess depending upon their satisfaction with my service provided! The other option is my hourly fee, and both the host/hostess and I agree that I will be allowed to display a tip jar on my bar for the guests to voluntarily tip me throughout the event.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I like to watch and learn new drinks that become trends, as well as constantly create new, exciting drinks with my knowledge of liquor.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I started out as a busboy when I was 16, then waited tables for 8 more years before making the move to bartender. I have always had a knack for being a good talker as well as listener, something that is very important and goes hand-in-hand with tending bar. Within a few years of getting my Associates' Degree of Interior Design, I was talked into coming up and working in an industry that was new and exciting to Colorado . . . Casino's and Gaming. Twenty one years later, here I am, confident I can successfully start my own business with the skills and knowledge I've attained throughout my career.
