Thomas is a true professional! We've worked with many contractors over the years on multiple homes and he is by far the best. He installed our kitchen and bathroom cabinets perfectly, efficiently and quickly - we've never seen anyone work so fast and have the job done to perfection. In fact, he just finished installing a toilet for us today and did such a fantastic job we're hiring him to do 3-5 more projects. In addition, he has been on time at our house every time and returns calls and texts. If you want a contractor who will show up on time, do what they say they will do at the price they say, provide excellent work, then you want to hire Thomas....you will be very happy with the results.

Aaron and Levi did a great job with my fence. I needed 3 replacement posts and added a second gate to the other side of my house. They showed up when they said they would and they worked their butts off to finish in one day. The work was well done and they handled themselves like true professionals. I would recommend and will be hiring them again for my next project. Thanks!

Hi Tim, Found your website and wanted to tell you how much my wife and I have loved the kitchen you designed for us. It's been a couple of years in-service for us and has made such a difference. It has really changed the "Flow" of our house and we get comments all the time about the layout and quality of our kitchen. Having a local cabinet maker was such a benefit when a problem came up during construction. One call to you, and within an hour an adjustment was made and we were back on track. We know, had we gone with a "Big Box" store, that quick adjustment could have delayed things for weeks. We are very proud of the work you did for us and wanted to say thank you again.

Hired AMC to do a full kitchen remodel and could not be happier. From the first meeting, design and ultimate completion everything went according to plan. I am very particular about scheduling everything in order and they were able to meet my expectations. I would highly recommend them for any remodeling you have planned. Things to plan ahead for (and they will tell you up front) if you need electrical or plumbing done you will need to hire a separate contractor. Cabinets, flooring and counter tops were all installed to perfection and with a very reasonable price.

My husband and I were doing our own kitchen update and had removed a huge microwave cabinet with small cupboard above. We didn't have the tools available to cut down the unit both in depth and length. Jerry responded quickly to my inquiry and after I described what was needed. He gave me a quote and we set up a time for him to pick up the cabinet. He showed up as promised and on time, which is amazing per my experience. He called later to clarify dimensions before cutting and reworking the cabinet. He delivered it in a reasonable time. The dimensions were exact, however he rebuilt it upside down. It worked out OK as my husband was able to drill a hole for the exhaust cable in the other end. Overall, we were pleased with his work and the cabinet looks great.

I contacted Thumbtack in order to find someone that could repair/rebuild a very expensive John Boos Gathering Butcher Block that was damaged during our move from Florida to Colorado. I quickly received a response from Taylor'd Designs and received a quote that was within my budget. Upon acceptance of the quote I received 2 very beautiful design options. Mike quickly scheduled an appointment to pickup the block and legs. The design I chose included shortening the block from 48 inches to 42 inches to fit my space. He sent me photo updates as work progressed and always contacted me if he had questions. Mike was very flexible on the delivery date for the finished cabinet but very prompt when I set it. I was stunned when I saw it! It is even more beautiful that it was when it was new and the quality of the workmanship is beyond what I expected. I am going to contact Taylor'd Designs again for another project in the future. Also, I am sharing a photo of the finished cabinet.

We initially hired Colorado Custom Craftsmen to install new doors, trim (base, door, and sills) on our total home remodel as well as install floor tile. They such a nice job, we ended up having them complete wall tile for our bath and shower surrounds, install our bathroom cabinets, add hardware to our cabinets, and install closet shelves and rods. These guys are wood working perfectionists and take pride in their work. As with many older homes ours had many issues and the guys were always patient and willing to offer a solution to the problem. Our house looks beautiful and we would not hesitate to recommend Colorado Custom Craftsmen. You'll be glad you did!

Kyler's painting and refinishing of our kitchen cabinets was truly outstanding. He used the necessary equipment and lacquer based paint to create a cabinet finished as well as the original manufacturer finish. As well the work was done with care to not create unreasonable dust and debris. I would highly recommend Crown 1.

I had all of my kitchen cabinets replaced and new countertops put in. I have a small kitchen and didn't know what to replace everything with. Lance had awesome ideas to give me more space and a TOTAL update to my kitchen! Lance helped from measuring, ordering Everthing and installing it all. He worked around my schedule and always showed up on time. He was also always available via text or phone. I am incredibly happy with the work they did. I would highly recommend their work. I LOVE MY NEW KITCHEN!

We needed cabinets cut down to accommodate a larger refrigerator. Dave gave us a great price and a quick turnaround. Best of all, you absolutely cannot tell that the cabinets weren't always that size. Beautiful work! Dave was easy to work with, professional and responsive.

I've used Peters Custom Carpentry for several projects around my home. My favorite is the wood accent wall they designed for me and built in my son's nursery. They've also installed baseboards, hung doors, tiled my kitchen floor, and remodeled my bathroom. I also plan on using them for custom built-ins and a deck. Brandon is professional, hard-working, and honest. I highly recommend him.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

      Do you tip cabinet installers?

In general, home service providers such as electricians, plumbers and contractors are professionals who don’t expect tips. They expect to do a job for you for the specific price they quoted. Of course, they may appreciate a tip for a job particularly well done or for which they’ve gone beyond what’s normally expected, such as completing the project early or under budget. Even better than a tip, it’s always appropriate to leave a positive review online after a good experience.

      How much is custom cabinetry?

Custom cabinets can be built for any room, including bedroom closets and built-in armoires. Measured carefully and built precisely, custom cabinetry can increase storage and beautify any room. The national average for building custom cabinets ranges from $500 to $1,200 per linear foot. The cost is highly variable because there are so many styles, colors, glazes and other options. In general, the linear footage of the cabinets, the materials used to build them, and the cost of the labor will determine the cost. Solid wood costs more than plywood and wood veneer, and costs vary among different types of wood; maple and cherry cabinets are more expensive than pine. Glass-front cabinets can cost more, as can decorative hinges, handles and door pulls, which can cost $2-$45 each; choose carefully to stay within your budget and pull off the exact look you’re going for. Some carpenters also charge for installation, on average $100 per cabinet box. Additional molding and trim, such as crown molding at the ceiling, cost an average of $70 per 8-foot section, and adding finished ends to exposed cabinets averages $100-$200.

How much does it cost to have kitchen cabinets installed?

In any kitchen, the cabinets are the main focus, so you want to make sure new or replacement cabinets are installed correctly. A professional carpenter can properly, securely mount new cabinets to the wall; the national average cost for this service is $7,725, although the cost varies widely depending on the type of cabinets, their material and their size, and the accessories you add. A typical fee is $70 per linear foot to remove existing cabinets and assemble and install new ones; the cost is less if you do the demolition and removal yourself. Stock cabinets are the least expensive to have installed, ranging from $75 to $400 each; semi-custom cabinets range from $150 to $900 each; and custom cabinets cost from $500 to $1,400 each. Wood cabinets are more expensive than those made from plywood or medium-density fiberboard (MDF) and finished with a laminate. Wood cabinets range in cost from $80 to $160 per linear foot. Laminate-finished cabinets cost $35 to $75 per linear foot, on average.
