FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
We charge a one-time ("flat") fee. This means that you know the full cost of representation from the start. With us, you never have to worry about losing your attorney halfway through your case due to unforeseen legal costs or the decision to take the case to trial.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Three things immediately happen once we're hired onto your case: 1. We file an entry of appearance with the court. This lets the judge and the district attorney know that you are represented by a lawyer and that they should be communicating with me about your case going forward. 2. We order discovery. Discovery is all of the evidence that the prosecutor has in a case. This includes police reports, body-worn camera footage, photographs, laboratory reports, and witnesses statements. 3. We schedule an in-office meeting with you. During that meeting, we go over the charges in your case, review the discovery, discuss the available defenses to the charge, and review any plea offer made by the district attorney. We do this so that you can make a fully informed decision on the best way to handle your case.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I attended law school at the University of Denver - Strum College of Law. There I focused on litigation and was an assistant editor for the 2016 edition of the Colorado Evidence Courtroom Manual, a popular reference manual utilized by judges and legal practitioners throughout the state. After graduation, I joined Colorado’s 4th Judicial District where I served as a Deputy District Attorney. During my tenure as a District Attorney, I handled every type of criminal case and spent months out of each year trying cases before a jury. I have delivered numerous trainings to local law enforcement agencies on issues of criminal law and best practices. During my six years at the district attorney's office, I worked in both El Paso and Teller counties. As a manager in the office’s County Court division, I trained and supervised the daily activities of the office’s new attorneys. I was also a member of the Southern Colorado Drug Task Force and liaison to the Drug Enforcement Administration. In that role, I worked with the DEA to dismantle large-scale drug-trafficking organizations throughout Southern Colorado. Since transitioning into private practice, I have focused on utilizing my intimate understanding of the legal system and skills as a trial attorney to advocate for my clients in court.
