FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I try to read up on any new developments in photography and am continually trying to improve my technical and artistic skills. I have self-assigned projects of personal interest that I pursue, which I think can teach you the most in developing your own vision. We are fortunate to live in a world where information is so easily accessible, so there is really no excuse to stay knowledgeable and informed.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have always loved anything artistic, and I have been taking photos from a young age, but those photos were for vacation, or more often of things my sister and I thought were funny. I always thought photography would just be a hobby, something to preserve my memories of all the important milestones in my life. I pursued sculptural ceramics in college, graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art. Though I still love ceramics, I discovered photography (film at that time) at the end of my college studies and for the first time seriously considered it as a career path. It was too late to change my focus for my degree, but I decided to pursue it once I graduated. I started experimenting and studying on my own, collecting gear over the years and finally launching my business in 2011. I still take funny photos, and document my travels through my photography, but my passion is connecting with people and capturing the most important events in their lives.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Portraits, whether individual, family, newborn or lifestyle are the most common jobs I do. I also take on a limited number of weddings each year. I am up for any adventure and would love to be a part of your life event.
