FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Typically we have a session fee that will retain and purchase the time needed for the photography. This will include a pre-session consult to plan out the session with the client. This could be up to an hour more, depending upon the complexity of the session and what is involved. Our goal is to identify what is most important to the client and address that need in a way that fulfills the clients vision of what they were looking for in their photography. It is time for building a relationship and taking care of necessary preliminary business. People often try and equate the best photography with the best price. Rarely is that the case. If a photographer is truly a professional they will have the confidence to price themselves as such and will endeavor to deliver a service and product that the client is very satisfied with. We keep ourselves accountable by giving our clients an evaluation to fill out on our service and products when they come to get their final product. That way, we know what they like or don't like and how we can better improve to give a better service. I never think of our photography as just a commodity to be compared with every other photographer. We are all different and need to be evaluated, not on what is the cheapest, but what is the best value of the artistic service that we provide. That is why I don't just give out prices. It is an injustice to my clients. I always want to talk with them personally about pricing and what all is entailed in it.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Recently, I returned from Imaging USA sponsored by Professional Photographers of America. I attended the event for four days in Phoenix, AZ. The days were filled with classes, workshops, demonstration and multitude of learning experience. As a Certified Professional Photographer we are required to attain so many CEU to maintain our certification. I also attend Professional Photographer Guilds and organizaions.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have developed a real passion and love for photography; in particular, photographing people. Where scenery is more static, people are more dynamic, expressive and each one can convey a variety of stories and moods to go with them. It was a way to artistically express and spiritually explore each person that I photographed.
